QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) 7-3 Twins, Blake is a bad outfielder. didn't you hear? they're better than the sox.

Garland's averaged more than a hit per inning since the break. Needs to pick it up NOW, or IMHO he should be considered for the bullpen in the playoffs.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) I'd only cheer for the Indians if the Angels are able to win the al west. If that happens, we would play them in the first round. If the Indians win the wc, they would play Boston. What if the Tribe were able to pull off an upset? If we take the Angels, we play the Tribe in the ALCS. I like that match-uo a hell of a lot better than Boston or Oakland. While I find it impossible to cheer for the indians, I would not mind this scenario. That's all I can say. Still, you want to beat the best and if Oakland's standing in our way, -
QUOTE(56789 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) http://www.opinioneditorials.com/guestcont...n_20050903.html NUKE, you should get a laugh out of this article like I did. I'm stunned that it took so long for the conservative apologists and spin wizards to put stuff like this together. They never take this long to run in and wipe W's ass for him after he's made a mess. This is priceless s*** right here, ladies and gentlemen: This made my night, too! Not only does this tool attack the usual suspects (Michael Moore and the NAACP) but now he's going after GOP mouthpieces like O'Reilly. Canabilism at its finest! And somehow he even manages to blame destitute minorities, who had no means of fleeing NO, for their own sad state of despair. Genius. Pure genius. I can't wait to read Anne Coulter, you know she's gonna string up some libs by the stones.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) He's probably another 2 years away, but he's got perhaps the most upside to any of our pitchers in the minors at the moment. I really rate him highly, I think he's right on the bubble in our top 3 prospects behind McCarthy and Young and around with Anderson. That's awesome! If he adds a few more mph to that fastball over the next two years, he's going to be wicked. Mid to hi-90s heater with that change up?

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 06:46 AM) What does Bob Grimm do these days? It's his job title, that's all I'm saying. To suggest he has nothing to do with it whatsoever...

QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 12:03 AM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...cs-home-utility Money seems to be at the heart of the matter. According to industry sources, the Sox's new radio deal with WSCR is substantially less than the current one with WMVP-AM 1000. As part of the new pact, the team reportedly wanted to ensure that neither Rooney nor Farmer would be subjected to pay cuts that could occur with reduced rights. It seems as if Rooney, however, wasn't able to get much of an increase from the station. Top radio play-by-play men in the major leagues make upward of $400,000. Farmer on play by play shoot me! :puke Nice to see that the Sox (Brooks) tried to get Rooney to stay. What can you do?

He reminds me of Pedro. Realistically, how far away is this guy? Could he be like Hernandez (Seattle) and get a call up next year, or even get invited to spring training?

QUOTE(LowerCaseRepublican @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) Russell continued, “A few blocks farther away, guests were being fed ‘foie gras and rack of lamb’ for dinner, according to a photographer who stayed there, while the masses, most of them poor, huddled in the Dome.” "It's good to be the king"

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Huh....the Sox site doesn't list that for him. I even double checked. They list broadcasting in his little profile, but not on the page. Anyways, I doubt this was mainly Brooks decision. no doubt about it. It actually surprises me that Brooks is even brought up, given Reinsdorf's history with Sox broadcasters. Any decision like this goes through him, and none of us know how much Rooney was asking for. He's a damn good announcer, though. Sorry to see him go.

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 08:11 PM) I have to ask - WinninUgly, where did you find your avatar? it's a pretty famous headline, you can google image search it and come up with a bunch. Makes me laugh everytime I look at it!

QUOTE(JimH @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 09:32 PM) Boyer has zero to do with this, he is not in charge of White Sox broadcasting whatsoever. Not trying to sound like a smart ass, but how is it that Brooks, whose title is Vice President of Marketing and Broadcasting, has "zero" to do with this "whatsoever"? Don't the Sox have final say so on who broadcasts their baseball games? If not, why is Hawk such a homer?
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) Brooks didn't have a damn thing to do with this. I don't know how much you think a vice president of marketing does. Brooks Boyer, White Sox vice president of marketing and broadcasting.

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 07:01 PM) Guillen needs to be careful with Freddie this inning. Freddy's dealing tonight, they can't touch him.

The tiger announcers were saying that Count had "no hit stuff" last night. I think had he been tossing against a weak hitting team last night he might've had one. I love that he's peaking right now.

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Everyone is a rival to the Raiders. Although the Chiefs and Seahawks got to be pretty big rivals towards the end of the Seahawks AFC era. Haha I remember 2 years ago on NFL live, the guy who used to be an offensive linemen for the Broncos said something like this, "The AFC West has the greatest rivalries in the AFC for sure, and possibly in football, The Broncos, Chiefs, and Radiers all hate each other, and all of them just feel sorry for the Chargers." LOL! I will say this, San Diego is a great place to see a game. Awesome tailgating before the game, beautiful weather, always a big crowd. A blast.

CC's tossing a no-no going to the 6th. JINX!

QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 06:33 PM) Hands down in the AFC, the greatest rivalry is the Raiders and Chiefs. Many, many great games and it's a very close series, something like 45-42-2 in favor of the Chiefs. But I'm baised. I always make a point of watching those games. They are fun to watch, but so are most AFC west games.
