QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:22 AM) Just start hitting. Thats all that needs to happen. The pitching and defense will be fine. They just need to hit and score runs. It takes pressure off of a pitching staff that has earned us this record. Line drives and singles, stringing hits together, getting on base. These things will help prepare us for the playoffs. NOW LETS GET BACK TO THE RALLY CRY.. EAT s*** TIGGGGERS!!!!!!!!!!!! f***in' eh, I love your posts. After every loss you're at the ledge ready to jump but come game time you're back, baby!

QUOTE(Steff @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 01:30 PM) That's awesome of IU. Sad that we're not hearing of more aid like this happening in the surrounding states. What the hell are the states to the left doing...?? Texas seems to be the only one offering any help. what's the federal government doing? reporters on the ground are saying that people are beginning to pass out from dehydration and dysentary. If the reporters can get there...

I'd like to see the sox go back to that early summer philosophy where all we heard was that they're only focused on the game today. Stop thinking about the playoffs. Stop thinking about August. Don't think about winning this series against Detroit. Just win today.

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:21 AM) The Sox are about to embark on a streak that will see them win 12 of their next 15 games, while the Indians play .500 ball and are left to contend only for the Wild Card. Dye's heating up Rowand's heating up Paulie's hitting singles Carl, AJ and Uribe, we need you. Now. Make this happen.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:06 PM) For the month of August, we didn't come back from a 2 run or greater deficit ONE TIME! That's simply pathetic. you know, not to be Mr. Happy, but with that in mind, it's a bit surprising we didn't lose more games in August. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Get used to it. I'm sure you'll see a few more of those types of teams winning it while we wait. If that's the case then we'll all be wondering what could've been in '05. I wish it weren't so, but as a man once said, "wish in one hand and s*** in the other and see which fills up first."

QUOTE(Chifananthony @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:56 PM) Im predicting NO DEAL, and we lose the division by one game, and become the biggest embarrassment in this city's baseball history. FIFTEEN GAMES UP AND LOSE THE DIVISION. THIS REALLY SUCKS. I refuse to go there. Too depressing. -
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) My negativity is completely justified. This team hasn't done s*** in my lifetime, or yours. The last time we were in the playoffs we got disgraced. Last WS in 1917, throwing one more recently. Last appearance in 1959, and we haven't even won a playoff series in the lifetimes of the majority of this board's members. Yet we're going to depend on a spark from some overhyped minor leaguers and then some other minor leaguers that are garbage? I know you think I'm full of s*** and grasping at straws by suggesting a boost from some minor leaguers, but I agree with you on this point. It's humiliating to watch Florida win 2 championships and the Diamondbacks and Angels one each. Even Toronto's wins in the 90s didn't sit well with me. And here the Sox have been around for more than 100 years. It's bulls*** and I'm tired of watching expansion teams win world series championships.

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:46 PM) If you win, chemistry is great. If you lose, the chemistry is supposed to be bad. It happens in every sport. A perfect example was the Georgia Tech basketball team in 2003-2004 and then 2004-2005. With basically the same group of players, they were supposed to have amazing chemistry in the first year when they were real good and made the championship game. Then, the next year, when they struggle, everyone says they had bad chemistry. Each team is different. Look at the big red machine. Bench hated Rose and Rose hated Bench. The two best players. Yet they put it aside to play ball. Who cares if they have towel fights in the shower and play pranks on each other? -

Maybe this is the upshot of dropping 3 of 4 to texas -- KW will make a deal tonight. I doubt it, but what the hell, there's still time. I wonder if Hildebrand cleared waivers... -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:19 PM) Point which irritates regarding Williams is he's been more than willing to hand out prospects for midseason trades in the past when our team was 7 games out of first. But when we're 15 games up on the second place team and almost guaranteed a playoff roster he does absolutely s***. chemistry -
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Wasn't it PK a few weeks ago saying that they wanted to go with the players they had?

``We shouldn't be thinking about the playoffs. We should be thinking about winning the division and getting back to playing solid baseball,'' designated hitter Paul Konerko said. ``It's definitely disappointing. ... We've got to figure out how to get back on track. We're figuring out ways to lose right now.''

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:06 PM) All along, I've said I just want to make the playoffs. I NEVER thought this team was good enough to win the World Series. I'll consider it a successful season if we make the playoffs. considering all the unknowns going into the season, along with the Twins favored to win it all, I have to say this is a good point. But after the way this team caught fire...I don't know, I guess my expectations changed. But everytime I watch the Great Escape I always think Steve McQueen's going to jump that fence. I'm weird like that.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) I could be wrong, but I thought I heard Burke will be called up when the AAA season ends on September 5th, along with Brian Anderson. Also, we have all been hearing Casanova was going to get called up for awhile now. No real surprise. EDIT: Ignore the the first part. There was talk of this before, but now I just reread the original article, so it aint going to happen.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) Yeah, my point was along these lines, though I didn't state it very well. Ross Gload is the only player on that list who could make any significant impact, but we know he's going to be lower on the depth chart than Timo Perez. I understand what you're saying, but until now Ozzie hasn't had many choices sitting on that bench to go to instead of Timo (how pathetic is that?). I can only hope you're wrong.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Along with half the board. But if you think Borchard is gonna somehow be good, you go right ahead and believe that. He sucks. I bet even he knows it. And if you think those minor league players are going to help us when we're already in the middle of blowing a gigantic division lead, you go right ahead and believe that, too. Fair enough. Don't forget that he might be able to tryout for the Bears QB job while he's in town, solidifying his savior status. I only suggested they might offer a spark. And that this team desperately needs a spark. Hell, I wouldn't mind seeing LTP pinch hitting for Tmo or Willie or Blum late in a game when the Sox need a long ball. Maybe that's delusional.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Thinking those guys will give us a boost is almost as funny as thinking Borchard has figured it out. didn't you predict that BMac would get shelled yesterday?

QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:17 PM) The gays. http://www.repentamerica.com/pr_hurricanekatrina.html The abortions. http://www.salon.com/politics/war_room/ind...cane/index.html Nobody's mentioned the casinos yet though... The pic of the fetus compared to the hurricane!

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Minnesota has 13 hits in 9 innings, yet failed to score. They headed to the bottom of the ninth tied 0-0, but lost on a couple singles and an error. I wonder if Gardenhire blew another vessel

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:21 PM) Casanova over Burke? Might I ask why? I wondered the same thing, since Burke plays 3B
-
QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 04:15 PM) LOL Casanova = Spanish for CRAP Sanders = another way to say Kevin Walker Borchard = LOL Anderson and Baj are players, but they're not exactly going to carry you to the promised land. I think Anderson may have blown his wad already with that game in Seattle. who said anything about these guys "carrying us to the promised land"? They ain't calling up Bonds, Pujols and Wagner.

you're forgetting Crede's stellar August in which he hit .103 and drove in 1. On a solo homer.
-
From sox website: The Sox definitely need some kind of spark and I think this crew could provide a nice lift for a pretty tired line up. I got a funny feeling Borchard might have figured it out. Finally! bring it cleveland

QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 31, 2005 -> 03:57 PM) Almost as bad as rooting for the Twins. Almost. true. I think the only time I've rooted for the yankees has been against the twins in the playoffs.
