QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) Get yer ass out there Scott.. you have some ground to make up to get to 100 steals. Against Sandy, he might make it there this week!!

Just our luck that Texas is heating up when the Sox come back to the big D!! Oh well, I think the Sox are heating up too.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) That's what ESPN 1000 said about an hour ago.... AS of this moment, ESPN 1000 is reporting that Joe Crede has a hairline fracture in his finger. They have not made a decision on wheather he will need time on the DL or who would replace him. :banghead we need defense. damnit. I hope he's back before October.

Somehow I let my wife talk me into going to some wine and cheese "symphony" tonight with another couple, which means I'll be hiding the cell phone as I check the score. If I can stand it, I'll resist and watch the game later on MLB.TV.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) You become terminal when you in the offseason Plan out the weekend for soxfest before they announce dates. Have your yearly vacation trip to Arizona already booked for ST. Cant wait until the schedule for next year is released so you can see what part of the schedule is East Coast bias. Wait for the first day of FA to begin, last day of arbitration offered, hit the site about a billion times during it, using RSS feeds from all sorts of sports news sources so you are the first to get that great FA signing we hope to get. Then b**** about the ones we miss out on. That + what you said and you are there. LOL That's me minus the Sofest.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) AND AN EXTRA :finger FOR MAKING TOM HANKS SLEEPLESS!! A RESTED TOM HANKS WOULD HAVE FLOWN APOLLO 13 SAFELY!! ASS-CLOWNS!! -
Wow -- I'm surprised this quote has generated so much anti-Paulie sentiment. I think he's a guy taking a leadership stand on a team that's fighting to stay on top. But that's just me. The quote is from the Southtown:

QUOTE(Kenkait Sox Fan @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Since Nomar is making is 1st ever start at 3rd Base today, is this a possible replacement for Crede for the last 6 weeks in a trade to give Nomar the shot at the World Series he missed in Boston? Intriguing...most intriguing. I'd be shocked if this guy stays healthy for even the last month of the season. Shame, too. So much talent.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:34 AM) People will jump on and off bandwagons for every team in every sport, including the Sox. That's just fans in general. WTF is Konerko gonna do about it? Instead of trying to tell the fans what to do, how about putting that piano down before you run the bases Paul? Or hitting more meaningful, clutch HRs or RBIs. Modified Kong quote: "The fans and the media have every right to doubt us. We haven't won anything yet. Now excuse me, I need to speak with my broker before boarding the charter flight to Seattle." Now that's passion, baby!

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 08:23 AM) Seeing as how they are requiring the Cub fan to write what hopefully will be a logical essay.. maybe there's a chance one that will appreciate them will win. Maybe some ingenious Sox fan will swallow their pride, pose as a Cubs fan and write a passionate essay? to make it believable, I suggest writing in crayon.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:06 AM) Those bandwagon jumpers are the exact fans that Brooks and Co. are working so hard to get out to the park and spend some of their entertainment dollars on the Sox. We have the hard core fans, teh difference between the two teams is the "entertainment fans" who decide if they are going to see a movie, go to a Sox game, or visit friends in Alsip. That's true, but I think it's a stretch to suggest a player's passion for his team is counter productive to marketing strategy. If anything, Kong's remarks add more character to the team and credence to his leadership, both positives in the grand scheme. Sidebar: If Brooks and Co. are looking to attract fans, they might want to try a different ad campaign. "Win or die trying" when the country's fighting a war seems rather inappropriate and not very well thought out.

"We no longer care about people who doubt us," Konerko said. "We haven't all year. You're either with us or you're not. There's people jumping on and off the bandwagon, but from now on when you're off, there's no getting back on." I'm on Paulie, I'm on! Promise! Man, I love seeing this guy get fired up. He's really become quite a leader on the team. Nice to see. He also gave mad props to Blum for yesterday's win, which is very nice.

Hernandez is going to win tonight. No doubt about it. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) On the bright side, it's the first time we can use the words Crede and hit in the same sentence for the first time this week.

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:59 PM) After watching the play I have a question. If PK would have caught the ball in the air in foul territory, he would have been out right? Since he didn't the ball is foul because it hit his glove then foul ground right? How does that differ from dropping a pop up in foul ground?? I just confused myself for some reason. great point. Ball has to cross the bag fair first, and it didn't. That's why Paulie laid there. Besides, does anyone really think that Paul Konerko could have dragged his ass off the turf and run to get that ball before Blum reached it? Paul Konerko??
-
It's great to see and great preparation. Winning a division in MLB should be hard, right? I know many of you may not agree, but I don't think there's another pitching staff in the entire league that matches up with the Sox. Look at what Count, Freddy, Mark and now Garland have done this last week. Stepping up in big games, putting the whole team on their shoulders and saying let's go.
-
watching the replay, I don't see how anyone can say that ball was fair. And DJ had no business calling out Kong, saying "it's no time to sit there and argue." That's not what Konerko did. Also, why didn't Blum just throw home? He had a clear shot? Meh, who cares. Sox win!
-
I just listened to it and he says: "And now they're gonna try and -- AND NO! HE DROPS THE BALL! DAMN!" it sounds like he was trying to take it back while it was coming out! I love the Hawk, man.
-
QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) I was at work listening to the radio during the play that tied the game 1-1, after I got home I watched it. Hawk went wild when he dropped the ball from Blum's throw but did he say damn?? I listened to it a few times and it sounds like it, didn't see anything about it in the game thread. I'll replay the archive, but I'm pretty sure he did not.

QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) No one knows yet. Crede himself seems to think it may be bad because he said his hand went completely numb after he got hit. "Latest News Aug. 25, 2005 - 9:23 pm et Joe Crede injured his right middle finger on a bunt attempt in the 10th inning today and will have X-rays tomorrow. Pablo Ozuna will play third base if Crede needs to miss some time." Oh man. I've been harder on Crede than anyone but there's one thing you can't take away from him, and that's his defense. He saves runs over there and as someone else already pointed out, this is a team built on pitching and defense. And pitching and defense is what wins championships. Get well, Joe!!

I hope he kept his mouth closed. Isn't he supposed to be allergic to the fire water? As in he gave it up?
