  1. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) FWIW, the Tampa Bay radio tandum was ranked last amongst MLB radio announcers. I just like Willsy and I'm glad to see him doing well. That's all.
  2. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) TB 3 CLE 0 -Bot 2nd do you ever listen to Dave Wills doing the D-Ray games on MLB audio? He does a great job.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:24 PM) Tonight was the first time that the Sox could have started Anderson against a below average starter. It would have been a good guage to see if he really was overmatched, or was it just the top flite pitching that was making him look foolish. But, no. Timo needs to add his veteran presence to the top of the line-up. you think it bothers you now, just wait until the playoffs!!

It would have been a good guage to see if he really was overmatched, or was it just the top flite pitching that was making him look foolish. But, no. Timo needs to add his veteran presence to the top of the line-up. Let's face it: there's no use trying to make sense of the whole Timo thing. I just wind up with a bruise on my forehead from banging it into the desk.
  5. QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) For the love of God, just win
  6. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 04:16 PM) Yeah, he's horrible in the outfield. POS G INN TC PO A E FPCT OF 8 49.0 8 8 0 0 1.000 why would you want Pablo in the lineup anyway? Just because he's the closest thing to a speedy lead off hitter that we have? Because he was great at the plate last night? oh well...let's hope Ozzie's gut is speaking spanish.
  7. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) Yea.. it's just south of 30 and north of Renwick. If the sky had turned the 29 people that died might have had a chance. From what people have told us it was raining and the sheets of rain literally blocked the view of the tornado. The thing was nearly a mile wide.. imagine that. 90+ friggin degrees at the end of August. That s*** just isn't supposed to happen. That is amazing. A mile wide?! That's old testament right there.
  8. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Besides the guys already brought up, what about Bartolo Colon, Billy Wagner, and Jason Schmidt and Eric Gagne pre-injury? All of those guys can usually hit 98 with regularity. Gagne. God, that guy was sick, wasn't he? a 98 heater followed by a 69 mph change up. What's the point in stepping into the box??
  9. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) All i know, is it was shaped like a twinkie, with the strangest looking hook on top. It always stood out to me, and when it was nailed by the tornado I was amazed at what happened to it. Yep, that was St. Mary's, the church we used to go to, at Rt. 59 and Renwick Road, I believe. I lived down 59 in Shorewood, off Black Road. And that church was pretty weird looking. There's really nothing more frightening than a tornado. Even earthquakes, which hit without warning, come and go quickly (although they still freak me out). It seems the terror of a tornado starts when the sky turns that weird yellow/green color and you just know something bad's about to happen.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 02:43 PM) If we lose this game I don't see how any of you can stil believe in this team. I'm going to assume you're exaggerating for humor, right? With a 9 game lead in the loss column? 11 over the Twins in the same loss column? thought so.
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Oh I know it's a s*** photoshop job but that's besides the point. Ah...how cool would that be??!!
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:54 PM) Yea.. there was a minor one just this past June that touched down right in the middle of the road on 126 just south of route 59. It mess up trees and power lines there, luckily no one was hurt. At our house, just over 5 miles from that intersection, we had hail the size of baseballs which literally punched holes in the side of our house, busted through our solar pool cover, among other things.. and wind gusts so fast that it ripped the cover off our hot tub and tossed it across our back yard, between the neighbors houses, and rested it across the street in another neighbor's front yard. The thing weighs over 70 lbs. As a matter of fact when we got home from work last night the contractors were just starting the siding repair. We're about 4 miles from PHS where that one initially touched down and I don't think there's ever been one exactly where we are.. but we're close enough I'm sure. I saw hail like that once in Texas. Unbelievable.
  13. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) We didn't know anyone at the time, but since moving out there we've met a ton of people that rebuilt after it. They have shown us some amazing pictures from the destruction. I'll bet it's scary. Have they had any tornados since you moved out there? I read somewhere that Plainfield is in this strange sort of anomoly zone where it's become a tornado alley.
  14. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Oakland and the Sox are both 2-8 in their last 10 games. As you say, if Oakland s***s the bed and doesn't make the playoffs, the cards would be aligning themselves very nicely for the Sox. All they have to do now is check nuts and use last night as possibly their last chance at a wake up call. As Paulie said, if they don't take something away from last night and (God forbid) lose the division, then f*** em. It'll go one extreme or the other. Yeah, but the Sox played better for longer than Oakland, thus the cushion in the standings. You lose as many as Oakland did in the beginning? Yes, you can come back, obviously. No, you cannot slump again. And I'm with you -- if the Sox don't turn it around then screw it. They've hurt me before, they'll hurt me again. But I got a good feeling about this season. Good pitching will do that. Remember how good our pitching was in '94 when the bastards went on strike?? I had the same feeling then, too.
  15. old spice + pall malls = dad, 70s
  16. I was just curious if any of you were connected to this tornado that happened 15 years ago. Some good friends of our family lost their home and the church we went to as kids was destroyed. Terrible day, to say the least. 15th Anniversary
  17. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) Sweeney? NOT to sound facetious, but where would he play?
  18. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) ^^^^ LMFAO!!
  19. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) We're going to win this. I just have a feeling. I agree. I think the Sox have absorbed this slump and are now breaking out. That was a GREAT game last night. And I like the way the Sox play on the road. Hope to see Pablo leading off again. I'll take his poor defense for his spark.
  20. With Oakland's recent slide, I'd say they're on their way out of the playoff picture. The Sox are in good position to make a push in September. And if the A's don't make it, I don't see a better pitching staff in the AL than the Sox, and that includes minny.
