  1. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) I think KW is still with us, he played with the Sox and he's paid to make them better. He has the desire to win a World Series urgently. And I honestly do think he'll pick up a bat soon. Sure it probably won't be Griffey Jr. but someone who will make our offense better. As far as Ozuna playing leftfield, I don't want to see him playing there in the Metrodome, it's hard enough to find the ball there, let alone for him who takes bad angles on balls. Buster Olney was just on ESPN radio talking about the Sox with Dan Patrick's idiotic replacement. He says that KW has done everything he can to bring in Griffey, it's in the hands of the Reds. I think his words were something along the lines of "he's tried desperately." I feel bad for Aaron, but the truth is that he's not playing very well or very consistent.
  2. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) Seriously though, what is the sick infatuation with trying to be the first one to "call it" if we somehow don't make it? (Relax, we're making it.) It really is the way that people make it sound as if they want it to happen that bothers me. I'm fine with pessimism, I can be pessimistic myself, but it seems to be going above and beyond pessimism.... It's not pessimism, it's fear. We're all scared s***less that the Sox are going to blow it. Become the '69 Cubs. Worse, be watching Minny or Cleveland celebrate winning the division. That's a very, very scary proposition. Humiliating. It just expresses itself in different ways. A bunch of arm chair GM's screaming for another bat. We all wanted another arm back in June and July and now look at the Count. Where are the calls for another pitcher? Anyone? Bueller?
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:58 PM) How could I not get into the playoffs? I'm still a die hard White Sox fan, but school starts tomorrow, I'm taking all honors classes, I have a job, a girlfriend, and I have a lot of other responsibilities. The White Sox won't be in my agenda until the playoffs now, if they make it. Dude, NO! Don't lose sight, not now! Baseball's an epic film. A f***ing saga of giddy highs and dramatic lows and if it's worth a s***, there's a really great low point where you feel a total sense of hopelessness and despair, fearing that the one object of desire that your hero's been fighting for the whole film has slipped from his grasp and can't be brought back (such as a 16 game lead). And then, just when you think the hero is absolutely beaten, he finds a way. He rises up. And that which didn't destroy him has only made him stronger and he absolutely kicks ASS. Don't leave before the movie's over. You're gonna miss the best part.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:21 PM) That was the one instance of the game that I truly did not understand...what in the world was Ozzie doing with that move? I want someone to explain to me besides some LH/RH horses*** as to why you would rather want Timo up in that situation I'm guessing it was his "gut", but I was screaming at the screen. Iguchi can tie it with one swing, and did against Randy Johnson for f*** sake.
  5. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:07 PM) Well if you werent pissed before here are the post game clips from the team This quote proves that they have no f***ing clue. Just tip your hat every night to the opposing pitcher as you go up there swinging the bat like three blind mice. Everytime you try and figure out why this team has been so bad lately. You see quotes like this from the team and shake your head. Irish, you're going to be proven wrong on this one. I'm telling you Paulie's right. Remember that 4 game series last September (or the year before) against the Twins in Chicago? The Sox won the first two and during the second game the Twins nearly came back and won. They went on to split the series and then swept the Sox the next week in minny. That 9th inning of that second game, even though the Sox won, was the turning point in the series and the season. They had their foot on the Twins' throat and they let them off the mat. I'm not saying this is the exact same thing, but Paulie's right. You can take positives from a loss, even a tough one. Freddy set the tone tonight and you can bet that Buehrle's going to feed off it and so will the rest of the team. They swung the bats as good as you can against Santana and nearly broke the game open a few times. You don't get many chances against the reigning Cy Young. Dude, the worm has turned and the Sox are going to be better from this slump. Take that to the bank.
  6. QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) POST OF THE CENTURY
  7. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:18 PM) What are we going to face in the playoffs? Minor leaugers? If we cant hit against them now theres NO WAY we are going to hit against them in the playoffs. You can take that straight to the bank. My answer to that is we're going to throw good pitching at them. Our #3 starter battled their ace all night and lost on one pitch. A 1-0 game in the playoffs? Yeah, that's about right. Maybe if we see Lindsay Johan in the playoffs the hard hit balls drop in and we win this time around. I don't hear Minny beefing about the fact that they only scored 1 run against the sox. And for the record: the Carny Wilson and Titanic references are two of the funniest I've ever read on this site.
  8. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 07:04 PM) it's been a great game to watch, win or lose I agree.
  9. am I the only one wearing rally panties? this thong is crawling up my crack like a spider.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Pathetic ABs for Rowand tonight, who usually looks comfortable vs lefties. yo han
  11. No way Magglio makes that catch!! Man, what a great game. No need for pessimism tonight going against the best pitcher in the league -- no matter what, the Sox are showing fight!
  12. QUOTE(fullcollapse @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) according to twins broadcaster dick bremer, santana not only beat ozuna to the bag, but cured world hunger with his miraculous play isn't he the worst? I want to reach through the screen and throttle that tool!
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) I'm not even being pessimistic when I say that's very possible with our schedule the way it is, and the pitchers we face. I'm not exaggerating when I say that thought makes me physically ill. Regardless of the season outcome, this August would have to be considered a major collapse.
  14. If our lead is 5 games or less going into September...
  15. what a shame. lead off man on and he never even gets to second base. f*** you Rowand.
  16. for what it's worth, Kong is swinging the bat AWESOME right now
  17. I don't watch every Twins game, but whenever they play the sox in minny they ALWAYS have a catch like that.
