  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Maybe it's time someone starts a thread saying Willie needs to get more playing time at 2nd base. Iguchi went on a tear after that thread last time. Willie. He smokes like a chimney. I have no idea how he stays in such shape.
  2. Freddy's gonna have to toss a shutout until the 18th...about the time we see Mulholland.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) I just think Santana is the best pitcher in baseball. especially in the 2nd half.
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 05:17 PM) This just in: In an attempt to become more streamlined, Paul Konerko is clean shaven. I thought it was his audition for the yankees
  5. I am glad Andersen's not in the line up tonight -- he was comical against Santana!
  6. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:54 PM) and thank god for mlb.tv except now we have to deal with "Circle me, Bert!" :puke
  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 04:10 PM) Blum with Konerko needs to get in the lineup. Geoff has really been swining a good stick, and Konerko has been the Sox hottest hitter. Carl needs to go somewhere. I hear you, I just shut my eyes when he has to run something down.
  8. I hate seeing Carl in the field. He pulls muscles just running bases. Seems like this is just asking for trouble.
  9. Wow, a great point by Ozzie that I'd never really considered: "Poor defense means a worn-out pitching staff. When you give away one out, that can be another 10-15 pitches in an inning."
  10. why didn't the proms at Joliet Catholic look anything like that...?
  11. QUOTE(LauraJ14 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 09:17 AM) I am an intelligent baseball fan who wants to know what is going on with the White Sox on the field today not what he did in his career. Talk to me about baseball strategy, tell what kind of pitch the pitcher just threw not just if it is a ball or strike. I'm with you on that one. I swear to god, if I have to listen to them discuss their approach to hitting the change up...ugh. But more often than not I enjoy the Hawk. I miss Wimpy, however. Sorry DJ. One nice thing about MLB.TV is the occasional break from those two so you can hear some other announcing teams, some of whom are very good. I actually like Cleveland's crew. Detroit's is good, too. Blylevin and that tool in Minny are homers just like Hawk and DJ, however. And I like KC's crew -- just straight up announcing, old school.
  12. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) He meant Chapel - as in Billy Chapel, pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, pitched a perfect game at Yankee Stadium a few years ago. Was that movie bad or what? I mean, almost unwatchable bad.
  13. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 11:44 AM) But where will Ross Gload play? I seriously wonder if he's healthy enough to play the outfield. If he is I can't imagine that he'd still be sitting in Charlotte unless there's more to it than ability. Attitude? "Chemistry"? probably just his shoulder
  14. Wonder how Radke feels now about all those wins in April that don't matter... April 9, 2005: ``They can get out and win as many games as they want,'' Radke said, shrugging. ``It's April.''
  15. Two of three would be just fine by me. Santana's just so damn tough. But I expect Freddy will keep it close. As AJ said, taking 2 of 3 hurts them -- they gain one game but lose 3 off the schedule, and right now minny needs games.
  16. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 05:07 AM) Oh, I just figured Ozzie would add the one extra game once someone is healthy. true :banghead
  17. Reading the star tribune, the twins are already talking another sweep of the sox. They must feel like they own this team in August and September.
  18. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) So the sox are guaranteed to go 21-20? who said that?
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 06:50 AM) I wouldn't count on Pods being back for that game. Unless we are still really playing badly, they might wait until September 1st to bring him off of the DL to keep Anderson post-season eligible. I thought he said he was planning on playing this sunday against Seattle, the day he comes off the DL.
  20. how cool would it be if that caught on at home -- rally panties!
  21. QUOTE(Wong & Owens @ Aug 22, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Better teams have blown bigger leads later in the season........... Cleveland trails by 10 games in the loss column with 37 left to play (for them). That would take some doing for them to pull that off. If the Sox go 21-20, the tribe would have to go 27-10, if my math is right. That's winning at a .730 click. Impressive, Woodrow. Let me know how your eyes adjust once your head's out of your ass.
