"I got a lot of confidence about this road trip," Guillen said of a trip that starts Tuesday with a three-game set against the Twins. "I don't know why, but I have a great feeling about it. I think we compete real good on the road. There's something in the back of the mind that says we're going to have a good road trip."

Watching the YES feed of the game today, Paul O'Neill and Michael Kay were discussing the Twins sweep earlier in the week, and O'Neill remarked that often when that happens to a good team they return the favor the following week. O'Neill is also a huge fan of Konerko's swing and talked about how, when he was with the yankees, he used to see Kong spending hours in the cage working before a game. Paul O'Neill....YES.

I think it's only right that Tadahito got it going. KW deserves executive of the year for that move alone. -

QUOTE(mooja @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Look on the bright side, at least Hermanson is gettin some rest.. I didn't think we had enough pop to go far in the playoffs anyways; even with KGJ. one man is not going to save this team. Let's face it, without Konerko and Pods, we have very very little chance of winning any games.. Anyways, I think they picked a perfect time to slump. Just need to wait it out.. they'll come out of the slump eventually. Just in time to make a final run. (I hope!!) (first post - woo hoo!) welcome! I think you're right, it beats slumping in September, but when or if this is ever going to end is the question... just in case, I have a box ready to start compiling every ounce of Sox memorabilia I own, including the Thomas rookie card and the Ordonez rookie card, as well as the hat my dad bought me at Comiskey in '72. These will be ceremoniously burned on the front lawn while I stand with only my boxers on, waving a pistol in one hand a bottle of Jim Beam in the other firing wildly into the sky and screaming "Why God?? Why?????!!!!" fortunately, I'm not there yet. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Put Blum at 3b, and if PK can't go, call up Gload for 1b. And trust me, I'm not one of the Gload lovers on this site. I didn't even think of that -- you're absolutely right. Wow, Gload's still tearing the cover off the ball, isn't he? what a joke this is. I'm out -- my ears are bleeding. -

I've actually gotten to the point where I feel sorry for Timo. He has no business being put in this situation. The expectations are not even close to the ability. It would be like signing Todd Ritchie and saying he's our ace. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) He can't even do that right. (Oakland game) I know that Ozuna gives up a lot to Crede on defense, but when offense is so needed right now I think it's worth the trade off. At least Pablo can get down a bunt and move someone over. Joe's just lost. I mean really, really lost. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 20, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) Honestly, though, what are Ozzie's options? The Sox don't have a deep or versatile bench at all. exactly. Carl's just about on average for his career. I actually think the Sox will pull out of this on the road, not at home. More pressure at home. -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) They want Brandon to start every 5 days and get his innings. As the 12th pitcher he could go weeks without pitching, and that would stunt his growth. I could see this point if it were June or July, but don't you think he's gotten in the work he needs and should start seeing some ML hitters? That and the fact that he seems to have worked out the arm angle problem.
