Sox v. Yanks 8/19/05 Official Game Thread
The Ginger Kid replied to bjm676's topic in 2005 Season in Review
oh boy. when AJ's hitting 4th you know we're in trouble. I'd be happy if this lineup scores 4 tonight. -
This point might already have been made, so I apologize in advance, but I'm still wondering why Adkins got the call instead of BMac. Wouldn't it have made better sense to work him into games from the bullpen by this time of year? He can also work long relief and seems much more effective than Adkins. I don't know the answer, just wondering if anyone had some insight on this.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 03:13 PM) Oh My God.. Then it truely is the one of the most f***ed up things anyone has ever seen. Yep. Just checked -- the story has indeed been optioned for a movie! Let's hope it's better than DH3

QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) ah, I bet right now Hawk is planning what he's going to say when Crede pops up his 3rd hanging breaking ball.... "Well, he was injured, but it looks like Wright is coming back into form, that happens sometimes, not much you can do." He is an awful apologist. That's my one knock on the guy. That and the fact that he's a rabid right-winger. -
so is it now safe to say now that this rumor has proven to be just that, a rumor and nothing more?

That's interesting that all this new information has come to light. I remember the incident but at the time I thought they were pretty sure Wells was behind it all. But I also wondered why, if that was the case, he would use a real bomb. Makes no sense. Boy, you can bet this story will be a movie.

Can't believe I'm saying the Sox need this win when they're 30 games over .500 and the Twins are only 7 over, but WE NEED THIS WIN!! I hope Garland finds that breaking ball he lost. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 08:59 AM) Wow, if 15 minutes for the easier ones is bad, then I'm bad, lol. Thx for the link. I've read a few good suggestions on the websites listed. I'm proud to say I nailed today's "diabolical" in the LA TIMES in about 20 minutes, a record for me.

QUOTE(Capn12 @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:09 PM) Just remember....it could be worse! right now I have the most confidence in Garland of our starting pitchers. did you ever think you'd be saying that?? A lot can change over the course of a year, that's for sure. -
Want Minnesota to fold and go away?

The last few seasons around this time I've pored over the Sox schedule trying to figure out how many games they could pick up against the Twins week by week to have a shot. Of course, those plans went into the s***ter every September. If I were a Twins fan (forgive me, lord) and looking at the schedule, I would be hoping to pick up two more games this weekend and be 10 back heading into the match up next week. Of course, after what happened in Chicago, they'll be thinking sweep or at least 2 of 3. Sweep leaves them 7 back, 2/3 leaves them 9 back. If they get to 7 games back going into September the Sox sphincter factor will be at DEFCON 5. -
This is SO addictive. I've been playing for a month or so and wind up staying up into the wee hours trying to solve it! www.sudoku.org is a great site, too

I actually thought Buehrle pitched pretty good last night. That balk call was BS and cost him a couple of runs. Outside of that he kept the Sox in the game. Maybe he feels pressured to pitch a shutout knowing the offense is slumping? Or maybe it's us who feel that pressure.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Are you watching this team?? It's not only a 5 game losing streak. They have looked like crap for about a month now. It's not like they won 12 straight right before the 5 game skid. Stop sipping the kool aid. I am sipping the kool aid. Seriously. I have been since this team jumped out to a lead in the division from day one and never looked back. Okay, I didn't start sipping right away. But sometime in May/June I saw the light, brethren, and sold my soul to the sox. I can't get it back, either. The biggest fear around here is that the Sox are first half posers and second half losers on their way to a record dive in the standings. Let's play 162 before we draw that conclusion.

Adios, muchachos! Enjoy the day, lick the wounds, kick the dog, and get ready to feast off some terrible Yankee pitching.
-
Take away that lame ass balk call and MB kept us in this game. Take away Hermie's blown save and we're playing for a series win, not looking at getting swept. Had minny come in and dominated and knocked the Sox around, I'd be reaching for the Prozac. But the Sox are playing AWFUL and somehow, someway, they still don't suck so bad.

Terry Tiffee... sounds like a figure skater, not a 3B

why was Nancy playing the theme song to 16 candles when Lecroy was up?
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) Why did Ozzie cancel BP? cause the sox are "en fuego!"

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) I must be the only person rooting for the no-hitter? And please, don't say I'm a bad Sox fan for saying that. Sometimes, you have to hit rock bottom before you can regroup. You have to understand how much I despise the Twins. I mean, more than any other team, I can't stand the twins.

this is going to be so f***ing humiliating if we get no hit by santana
