  1. Not that it's going to factor into the decision, but that balk call was f***ed up.
  2. What's the matter with Carlos Lee, Jose Valentin and Royce Clayton? WAIT! Sorry, I was having a flashback. I'm okay now.
  3. Alright, I didn't want to have to do this, but I'm left with no choice. It's time to conjure the dark science...the occult...black magic....VOODOO! Santana, I curse you!!
  4. HEY! where's that rally thing that worked against Arizona??? whip it out!!
  5. cool...now we're swinging early in the count. Don't want to tire out Santana.
  6. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 06:00 PM) Well its now 2-0. Now the softball team will try and tie it every single time they get up. Here comes the flood of Ks and popups and lazy grounders to the left side. That's why Crede should be in the line up -- he was made for this kind of game! :banghead
  7. let's play bean ball!! A brawl will pull us out of this!!
  8. I feel like I'm watching funny Geiko commercials with small breaks of baseball in between. I like the one with the cavemen.
  9. Anderson should ask for that ball too -- his first strike out against Santana!
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 05:47 PM) We havent been the same team since Thomas went out of the lineup. we were pretty good before he got in the lineup, don't you think?
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) I almost got into a car accident on the way to work this morning having to avoid people jumping off of the Sox bandwagon. if it helps, the Sox still have a nice lead in the division. These are the dog days and the Twins, for the first time this season, are playing some good baseball. We'll kick their ass next week at the dome.
  12. only three lefties in the line up for the twinkies. That's good -- MB's better against righties this year.
  13. Wow. I just realized I'm part of the radical left. Is this going on my permanent record?
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:32 PM) You will like the lineup up until the point that stone hands kicks the ball at third. Ah...manos de piedras. I haven't thought of him in awhile. I wonder if he still shaves his eyebrows? That used to freak me out.
  15. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) 3B: Ozuna 2B: Iguchi DH: Everett 1B: Konerko CF: Rowand RF: Dye SS: Uribe C: Widger LF: Anderson I like this lineup! Ride Santana hard and put him away wet!
  16. What is also amazing is this undercurrent of stories popping up in the media that the steroids issue has been mis-reported all along. The Bob Costas show on HBO has now done two pieces wherein claims are made that steroids are not bad for you and aid in healing of injuries. The LA Weekly did a fascinating article saying that steroids have been scapegoated (they have a bad reason - sports memorabilia as a driving influence for keeping steroids out as it would limit the value of their product) and that Canseco points out in his book that it is the fountain of youth - and these claims are steadily being supported. Bottom line: it appears there have been no long-term studies on steroids.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 01:53 PM) They just read the starting lineup on M, J, & H -- I wasn't really paying attention, but I believe it was like this. Iggy 2B Blum 3B Everett DH Kong 1B Dye RF Rowand CF ? C Uribe SS Anderson LF I like it. Blum is starting to make some good contact and Crede needs a LONG break. But it's sobering to have to face a Cy Young pitcher when you're slumping at the plate, no matter who you run up there.
  18. I've never been a big Bud fan, but if this is true I have to give him credit for staying true to his word that he wants to clean up the game. It's a shame though, the last 15-20 years are going to be tainted.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:38 PM) http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-gas17.html If this happens, call it the Great Depression II, because we will have triple the unemployment rate currently, and about 15% inflation on top of it. That's about what the rest of the world pays, outside of some OPEC countries. Guess we'll see less Hummers on the freeways in LA. Gee, I'll be so disappointed.
  20. QUOTE(winodj @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) I think she's wrong. And he's wrong. Nobody's right here. Neither is Bill O'Reilly who equated her protest to treason. I've never understood the rationale that says protesting military action is tantamount to treason. Based on that logic, all military action should be supported.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) She has met with him once, although with a group of other parents. The President cannot be forced into stuff because of a demonstration like this. It isn't a path I would like to see any President embark on. I believe I support our Troops by being vigilant and letting my government know when I believe a cause is worth the loss of human lives and when it is without. Our government's greatest strength is the voice of every American. Soldiers die because we allow it. Sometimes for good, just, and honorable reasons, other times for much less. I support any citizens non violent protest. I agree. Bush could meet with her a thousand times and it's still not going to change the fact that her little boy is dead. She's angry and who can blame her? I can't begin to understand that kind of loss and with two cousins serving in Iraq, hope I never have to.
