Bobby Jenks just shook off AJ's sign. Nuke, anyone?

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:42 PM) We will not see Frank again this year... maybe not again in a White Sox uniform, ever. I'm happy that if it had to happen, it happened before the trade deadline. yikes...step back from the ledge. That guy can still do more limping than most can with two good wheels. Frank ain't done yet.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Actually, I like Gooch in the 3-hole but thats just me. I agree with A-row in the 2-hole, he excels there, unfortunately, so does Uribe...... hmm...I've never thought of that. Not bad, not bad at all...

with the Twins in NY for three you can't help but feel that the Sox could gain some serious ground over the next three days. A 15 game lead in the loss column in the last week of July would sure look sweet!

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) So nice, you had to post it twice. just once didn't feel like enough. How I did it I'm not sure

If you get a chance rewind to Uribe's homer in the sixth. He starts to slow up to admire it then takes off, clearly remembering what happened the last time he stopped to admire what he thought was a home run. Pretty funny.

is there any evidence that Gload is a tool? I just wondered why he wasn't brought up sooner, and in an interview today he sounded like a bit of a smart ass. Just asking.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 02:31 PM) Who knows, facing a knuckleballer is so much different then facing anybody else. Uh oh, sox second topic on pti, not gonna be pretty with Mariotti on. let me guess -- he said the sox are toast unless they make huge changes.

QUOTE(Stocking @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:43 AM) If Shingo is to be moved, what effect do you think this will have of the Gooch? Im sure Shingo made life much easier on Tadahito and will be missed. I think it will cause him to make two errors on one play. I'm just guessing, though.

It's official: Frank to the DL

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:14 AM) Now, take away the thoughts of whom the Sox would have to trade for Junior Griffey, his contract, etc. and just read that bottom line. Damn. I couldn't stop giggling. I know this is entirely conjecture, but god damn if it didn't bring a smile to my face. Chances of this happening, however: slim to none and we all know where slim just went. Believe me, Griffey would come to Chicago and pull up lame with a bad hamstring when he's walking off the plane.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) Ultimately, that is the basis for this question. Would the Sox be in a better position to win a pennant race with a stronger SP starting every fifth day or a lefty-arm in the pen that, at times, could be invaluable with his ability to lock things down and bridge the gap to a closer. given the ever evolving closer situation with the sox, and I'm not complaining about that since it's worked out just fine, I believe that it's going to be closer by committee in the second half to give Hermie a break now and again, with Cliff and Damaso taking the bump in the 9th on occasion. Works for me.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:11 AM) Rather than start another thread or something, I'm just going to throw this scenario out there: If, by some grace of God, the Sox can center a deal for Burnett around Brandon McCarthy and Damaso Marte, then sign a lefty the likes of Embree or someone else off the scrap heap, would you make the move? IMHO, Burnett+Embree>>>McCarthy+Marte I'm going for broke in 2005. I think Damaso is a dominant left hander who would be sorely missed in any run for the playoffs. I'd much rather lose Cotts before Damaso. When he's on he's virtually unhittable.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 10:54 AM) Timo and Willie for Cabreras and Castillo is what I heard. Lemme go ask my carwashers sisters uncles daughters roomates pimp which is where I hear this. I think that's Buster's source too

QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 10:52 AM) Timo for Cabrera im sure

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:53 AM) Oh, don't be so freakin' obvious! It's late, man, come on! Cut me some slack

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Says who? Ozzie sure implied this after the game? From the trib: Everett handled the designated hitter duties in place of Frank Thomas, who has felt soreness in his left ankle. The soreness isn't believed to be serious enough to consider a trip to the disabled list.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) If you complain about the Sox's offense, how would you feel being a Twins fan right now? Like a tool?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Iguchi's been absolutely awesome this year. This thread's stupid. THIS THREAD SUCKS! :sleep -
I remember that great game Garland had against the sawks in Boston (two years ago?) He allowed two hits and when Manuel came out to get him in the 8th the crowd in Boston gave him a standing ovation. Awesome. I bet he remembers it.

"Obviously, [the White Sox] have the best record in the league," Boston first baseman Kevin Millar said. "It's early right now, [so] you're just trying to win series. This is not life or death. If we sweep them or they sweep us, the season goes on."

This was the one we needed, look at the matchups
The Ginger Kid replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) Wakefield vs. Garland (Garland might be rocked sick) Hernandez vs. Miller (ditto) Count vs. Arroyo (not a question, he will be rocked) I might be blowing up after today's loss, but I think we get swept. Our pitching will be socked, no pun inteneded, the rest of the series. sweep this, asshole :finger oh, and one other thing: Maggs is a f** who plays for Detroit :fyou -
Ozzie's been preaching all year that we'll know what this team is made of when they hit a rough stretch. I'm not convinced this is a rough stretch...yet...but if it is, let's see how they pull for each other.

7/21 Game Thread - BoSox vs. ChiSox
The Ginger Kid replied to DABearSoX's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) f*** Comcast and their question about who would you rather not see the Sox face in the playoffs? I absolutely can't stand the feeling I get that some people in the organization think it's a guarantee we'll make the playoffs. a little frustrating, isn't it? Tommy Lasorda was on the radio out here this afternoon talking about, who else, the Dodgers, and told the story of 1982 how they made up 7 games in 8 days. I'm not saying the Sox are slumping or even hitting a bump, but if they are then I hope they get it out of their system over the next week or so and then get back on track. I hate to say it, but every team hits bumps. Ozzie's been preaching it all season. -
