  1. Hate is a strong word...but sometimes I really don't like Joe Crede
  2. didn't the Sox go into the tank last year after the Cubs series at home?
  3. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 04:44 PM) Inge Pops out inning over 2 -0 Tiggers through 2 glad my TV says it's 1-0
  4. is it just me, or does it look like MB is leaving the ball up?
  5. this is a chance for the sox to BURY the tigers -- make them sellers and not buyers this season. If this were previous Sox teams I'd agree they might be in trouble, but this team likes beating teams in their division, they know how important it is. They saw what the Twins have done by beating up on the AL Central the last few years. No way the Sox get swept by these chumps. f*** the Tigers.
  6. Someone may have posted this already, in which case I apologize (it's the first time I've started a topic). But this was an encouraging blurb from the Trib: The Sox may have relief help within their organization. Double-A Birmingham closer Bobby Jenks and outfielder Chris Young were named to play for the United States in the seventh annual Futures Game on July 10 in Detroit. Jenks, 24, is second in the Southern League with 16 saves with 40 strikeouts in 352/3 innings. "Jenks is on a faster track than Young," said Dave Wilder, the Sox's director of player development. "He's up to 98 [m.p.h.] every day." 98??? That's sick. It would be nice to see Jenks fill the roll that Vizcaino is failing to hold down.
  7. Here come the weird afternoon shadows...glad we have a lead.
  8. I read that the Twins are going after Randa and I expect them to get him. He'll fit right in over there and give them a boost. Cudyer blows. I think it could have the same impact as the Stewart trade that they made a few years back. Still, I don't think it makes them better than the Sox. And as someone who has forever been on Crede's ass, I have to say it's nice to see him coming around before the break. That's a good sign. He could have a big second half. I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think the Sox should stick with him.
  9. QUOTE(Southside hitmen @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 09:09 AM) He's was b****ing about the amount of coverage the Sox have been getting in Chicago. "I turn on the WGN to see what they're saying about us, and I get 1 minute on the SOX, 5 MINUTES on the Cubs, and the Yankees win not once, but TWICE in slow motion..." Give em hell, Farmio. I listened to yesterday's game on the internet and Ed was talking about Tuesday's game and how ESPN didn't show Sox highlights until 3/4 into the show, this after Garland became the league's first 12 game winner. f*** ESPN. Ever since that jerk Berman went off on Sox fans for booing during the all-star game I've hated those guys.
  10. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 08:51 AM) Its far from over, teams can go on big rolls. Houston last year for example. I was at the game Monday when they were running one of those this day in White Sox history things on the scoreboard. On June 20,1983 Lamar Hoyt pitched the Sox to victory, and moving them to within 2 games of the .500 mark. They finished 99-63. That's a great point. Twinkies have notoriously played mediocre ball in June then turned it on in the second half. Expect no less this time around. If we can go into those key series in September with a five or six game lead I'll be a very happy man. And frankly, I want to see the Sox win it in September, not June. For once I want to see them kick their ass in September, not have some big lead and then just hang on for dear life and hope for the best. f*** that.
  11. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:24 PM) Before this gets into all the fantasy trade deals, let's get back to reality. There was a media report linking the sox to Lilly. Let's look at the reasoning behind the sox looking at him, instead of the pie in the sky crap It's not to get a top of the line SP. It's for a 5th SP type. Sorry about that, my fault. It's just that some sports stations out here have already begun discussing the inevitable dismantling of the boys in blue and my mouth started watering at the idea. As for Lily, he's a bust. Terrible idea. Kip Wells, anyone? :banghead Doh! did it again...
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) Mark my words...Depodesta will be a buyer this year, not a seller. I would wager that he's gone at the end of the season, Tracy before then.
  13. QUOTE(chi-guy2 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) but the dodgers are still in contention and hes probably their best guy, no way they trade him I wouldn't say they're in contention any longer, not with the injuries and the sudden dive they're taking.
  14. QUOTE(beck72 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) Not with the new huge contract. He's making 7 mil this year. That's not so bad. Win the world series and who cares?
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Derek Lowe just signed with the Dodgers this year. He is doing pretty good with them and they need more pitching because their pitching staff is either injured or doing horrible. He's a small bright spot. Plus he's owed tons of money. No Lowe young grasshopper. And I'm a fan of Lowe. Gagne just went down and after losing 8 straight, the Dodgers are going to be looking do dump some salary and start looking to next year. They brought in Lowe for a playoff run and they'll be watching from home this year. Yes, the Sox would have to pick up a big chunk of change, but didn't KW say Jerry would do that? Attendance is up, you have the best record in the league and I guarantee you the Twins are going to upgrade their bats before the deadline with another Shannon Stewart like trade. To add a veteran like Lowe -- a guy who would fit right in to boot -- would be huge for the Sox. And don't you know he'd love another shot at the Yankees or even better, his old teammates? Hmm? Make it so, Kenny, make it so.
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) I sure hope KW is aiming a little higher than Ted Lilly. Derek Lowe, anyone?
  17. Don't the Sox need someone who can start giving Konerko a break at first...someone whose name is not Timo? And what about making a play for Lowe from the Dodgers? They are so done. They need a 3B in a big way. Why not move Crede and an arm to the Dodgers and then look to make a deal for Randa with prospects? Just a thought...but if we had Lowe in the rotation...oh boy, that would be scary.
  18. Thomas, Dye and Carl are ALL very prone to injuries. Given what's already befallen El Duque, I wouldn't push it. There's a very good chance all three of these guys could go down for a spell. Not trying to be cynical, just holding my playoff matchups for August/September consideration. Oh what the f*** -- I'd like Anaheim in the first round. Beat the best first.
