  1. Someone used "Dunn" and "value" in the same sentence.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 09:23 PM) Man... Nothing's going on this time of year... So, we get threads about all kinds of... Poop. Well, I did get this email this morning... spring training schedule
  3. Let's say you're starting a major league team and you get to pluck the braintrust from one team's farm system...who would you choose? Me, the Cardinals.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 23, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) You look at their big homegrown contributors, a lot of late round next to nothing bonus guys. Considering the excuse the White Sox have had about draft position, the Cardinals seem to find away around it without going over slot. Yeah, that's a horses*** excuse on the part of the Sox. Just take a look at what the Cardinals got in '09...Shelby Miller 1st round, Joe Kelly 3rd round, Matt Carpenter 13th round, Trevor Rosenthal 21st round, Matt Adams 23rd round. That's in one draft! And all 5 are on the current WS roster. Damn...
  5. I thought Curt Schilling had a good point about the cardinals, they don't look for the 5-tool players per se, but baseball players. They draft good baseball players, guys who know the game and understand it and are good all around players.
  6. i bet a nickel that Sanchez gets shelled tonight
  7. I coach girls fast pitch softball and I've found countless wonderful drills and coaching techniques uploaded on youtube by college programs across the country. I've sat with our pitchers and watched videos on an ipad and then tried to implement various techniques. I would imagine there is something comparable for boys baseball as well. Enjoy!
  8. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 08:35 AM) Pretty much vintage Peavy in the postseason. Yeah but he's a much better pitcher than Garza (cough cough)
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 8, 2013 -> 09:06 AM) Thats because he sucked the last couple years he was here. Always played great D, though.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 26, 2013 -> 12:26 PM) Danks is a disaster that may never recover. I think he's come a long way since ST and the shoulder surgery. I also think he'll be even better next year.
  11. Do you think Jeter's coming back next year? Hard to believe he wouldn't have a Mariono-esque swan song season, but...
  12. PK's right about the cycle of life of an MLB team. And FWIW, I'd rather it be happening now when you consider what the tigers have built, a formidable team that will contend again next season. Sox don't have the talent or resources to go toe-to-toe with them right now.
  13. KC vs TEX another good game. I think the royals might actually sneak in there.
  14. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 20, 2013 -> 06:41 PM) Tonight ALL year! I think the Tigers vs. Red Sox could be a great ALCS, one of the better ones in a long time.
  15. I heard there were some guys in White Sox uniforms playing baseball tonight?
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 02:58 PM) Our projected performance based on run differential is several games better than what we're actually seeing. I'll take it! Glancing at the standings, it also looks like the 2nd pick is very possible. And Houston's won 3 straight, so who knows?
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 13, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Last 162 games: 62-100 But remember--we're not that far away. I wish I had a positive spin for this.
  18. I don't seem to mind as much when the pen comes in and blows it, not as long as a young starter has a good outing.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) IN MY 60 YEARS OF POSTING, THIS IS THE WORST BIRTHDAY THREAD I HAVE EVER SEEN STONE PONY.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) Why? He hasn't cared the rest of the year. Dumb QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) He needs to look in the mirror he has been amateur hour all year. Dumber QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) He should be fired. Dumberer He had one terrific and unexpected season, one dismally bad season. You say he doesn't care, wtf is he supposed to do, get kicked out of every game? McEwing told Lexi to make sure a line drive goes through yet he STILL got doubled off 3rd. That's the coach's fault?? Give him one more season. If they blow then you know.
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 08:34 PM) Adam Dunn told FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal Tuesday that he could retire after the season. Dunn is just 33, is guaranteed $15 million next season and is within shouting distance of 500 homers, but he indicated that a lack of enjoyment for the game could lead him to walking away. "I’m not coming back just to come back for money or because I have one year left (on his contract)," Dunn said. "I’m not coming back to chase home-run numbers or whatever. If I end up with 499 and I’m not having fun, see ya — 499 it is." It's certainly something to file away, but it's hard to see Dunn giving up a guaranteed $15 million. Per Rotoworld Release/retire whatever, just get that loser out of a Sox jersey.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) The Ozzie Guillen Image Rehab tour rolls on. Dan Hayes ‏@DanHayesCSN 42m Ozzie Guillen to appear on @SportsTalkCHI live tonight at 5:30 (CST). The guy clearly made some mistakes his last season with the White Sox. To err is human. I'm prepared to let it slide. I hope he starts showing up at Soxfest and other events. Might as well do it now rather than in 2 years when the whole 10 year reunion stuff gets started.
