  1. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 02:57 PM) Yes because you throw convention out the window when covention has fared poorly. But maybe you think losing is fun or seeing the same s*** different day is acceptable. You make it sound like a change in batting order is at least doing something. Smacks of desperation to me. Change just for the sake of saying you tried everything. I'm not saying the order is perfect, and I share your frustration, but I don't think Robin's scorecard is holding this team back.
  2. He would have to pass a physical, right?
  3. What are these "hot streaks" of which you speak? Which of those streakers deserved to be bundled together to maximize their streakiness? I don't mean to be a Richard, but you kind of made the case FOR Robin. This team has had more than enough pitching to at least be at or above .500. And that would put them well within striking distance of what is a much better team. And the pitching did this without Gavin, but with guys like Axelrod and Santiago really stepping up. So it's easy to see how miserable the offense and defense has to be to keep losing at this rate. It's really impressive. And can everyone stop pretending they're Dr. Frank Jobe and fretting over the pitch counts of young players like Chris Sale. No wonder Don Cooper doesn't post here anymore, it's insulting. I'm not happy with this team, you're not happy with this team and Robin sure as hell isn't happy with it. So let's see if he can turn it around. Remember, it was Robin who was a big proponent of establishing a "White Sox way" when he was Buddy's boy. I believe he's a smart guy who knows this game and hates to lose. Let him get his hands on some younger guys to see what kind of manager he truly is.
  4. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 08:50 PM) Sunday morning I flew back from Omaha and sat next to two obvious scouts flying to Detroit. It was a red eye, so I assume they were scouting the Royals AAA team? They were both talking about how they don't understand how the team is a buyer. I am assuming the team is the Royals? Also, they spent a good 15 minutes making fun of Dave Cameron and fangraphs for their "bulls*** scouting reports" That's a pretty cool story
  5. QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 11:23 AM) It's because of Bogaerts that Cecchini is even being mentioned as available, because he could play at either SS or 3b. So no. Makes you wonder what kind of package it would take to pry him away. Everyone seems to believe he's the next big thing. Of course, so was Jesus Montero
  6. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 11:15 PM) If there's one thing I absolutely trust about our organization it is the ability to evaluate pitching. Calling the FO dumb for not getting Martinez is ridiculous. Like we know better... GMAFB. After reading about Martinez and looking at his stats for the last 10 minutes I can easily see reasons why he is exciting but also EASILY see reasons why he isn't enough to grab one of the top SS in MLB. Prospect overexcitement is a sickening disease. Great points.
  7. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 07:08 AM) Unless they know something we don't know about the guy... from the outside looking in, he looks like a very good pitcher in the making. bullpen pitcher, some say
  8. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:17 PM) I assume he has a good track record/history? or is this just something he claims? good track record
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 08:35 PM) I'm highly skeptical of Garin Cecchini. Reeks of Ryan Sweeney to me. please don't bum me out like that.
  10. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) This is a great thread and has been for 3 days or so. I only expect that to continue. STL appreciate your input. Keep it up if you can. Since I am still pretty new, I have no idea what the story is on 'bucket of suck' can someone please fill me in? he's got a great line on trades and the inner workings.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:20 PM) Yep, but man oh man, that offense is awesome right now. top to bottom. And with Grienke and Kershaw, you don't need much more in the playoffs.
  12. Wrong thread, I know, but Dodgers could use one more starter.
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:16 PM) http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/2952565/lolerror.gif That is so great.
  14. I'll have to watch the replay but I'd love to look closer and see if de aza was standing there laughing while he bobbled that ball at least 4x. And I hope he was saying "fail" in spanish each time.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) Sox are showcasing him for the Newark Bears
  16. I'd rather see the Sox burn the sawks for the likes of Cecchini and Owens.
  17. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 23, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) I can't think of any major leaguers who couldn't control their weight well enough to hurt themselves considering they have a whole training staff dedicated to keeping them healthy and the whole " I can make millions of $ if I don't stuff my face " thing going for them. We hear about Fielder and Cabrera , know how big Cecil Fielder got, see ST pics of Cabrera looking fat and yet they produce year after year. So you're just going to worry about a perceived problem with a guy now ? Let me think about it and get back to you.
  18. Adams strike anyone else as someone who's going to battle weight issues?
