  1. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 4, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) Good question. I love baseball but to think of no meaningful games in June and July ... crazy. I know I won't be watching any Sox games from start to finish. Will probably catch parts of games here and there, especially if they change the roster and I want to see new guys play. I personally as a fan don't want to see AJ and Juan Pierre bat again this season. I could do without seeing Adam Dunn again as well. Bring him back next spring training and let him try again to actually get a meaningful hit in the first five weeks. Dunn "big donkey" or big dissapointment.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) His mechanics tonight were terrible. He was all over the place. you have that right. I was refering to the hit batsman. it was off the nub of the bat. winner
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:47 PM) Come on Sale...you have a 4 run lead. Get one more freaking out. don't blow it santos hard to overcome bad calls.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 2, 2011 -> 09:52 AM) Agreed with this. Coming into the season we had exactly 2 concerns: a shaky back-end of the bullpen (not too big a deal), and wondering if Morel could handle full-time 3b duties. We have 100 more questions now, but I cannot blame KW for this. I'll give the sox 125 more games if they haven't changed for the better by then I'm going to give up on the Sox.
  5. QUOTE (zenryan @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) maybe he gave up jerking off for lent. maybe they are atrophying from sitting on the bench.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 27, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) If that happens, the bright side is that the pen is well rested. surprising numbers from colon and Rothchild, yankee pitching coach, whoa achieved little success on the other side of chicago. Mark will pitch brilliantly to his capabilities while Colon returns to his has been status.
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) He almost blew it twice. Gotta love the Stealth Elf for saving the day. Move over Rowand. Lilli has just redefined grindy!
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 12:20 PM) He won't give the contract, which is why I believe John is gone. Buehrle, didn't sign a longterm contract while he was under the sox control. Perhaps it is a good strategy.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 20, 2011 -> 04:24 PM) Johnny Nunez with 10 K to 0 BB in 7 IP so far? That's nice. Bruney not getting the ks but so far getting the outs. Looking at his history it seems he does well until he hits ths show. I'm assuming he has some pitching talent but hasn't played well at the major league level.
  10. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) He's hitting .333/.385/.583!! How could this be sarcasm fueled by Rios rage? you know , when players like Beckham,Dunnn and Rios for example seem to fail so consistently it begins to be increasingly more difficult to imagine them ever laying to their capabilities. At spring training he didn't relax he worked at everything hard. He seemingly knew that even making the team was a given. Rios, has a big contract a player with all the tools , a great centerfielder but lately hasn't been able to do anything at the plate. Its painful watching our batters struggle. Its a slump. 6 games is not a slump it is a skid. Do something even if it is wrong.
  11. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 06:55 PM) It is time. Rios is slumping while lillibridge could make adifference. We need a spark in our lineup.
  12. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 02:33 AM) Phegley went 2/4, with 2 doubles. Silverio went 3/3, 1 RBI No comment yet on Cameron Bayne's 0.000 era after 14 innings of work at Winston Salem.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 02:52 PM) Probably play a ton of golf, I heard he was a pretty good player. I hope the sox erect a statue in his honor or honor him in some way. His 2005 season played an immense part in winning the season. Hell, honor that whole team for their contributions.
  14. best curve in minors mid 90s fastball no control 6'5, a pitcher's frame. Recently added to 40 man roster. Somewhere i read that he would be better suited to a relief role. maybe this is his year.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 13, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) I agree with you. I think this Alomar thing has got some people shook up. My most vivid image of Alomar was when he spit at the umpire. For that reason alone, I would have shunned him from the hall.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 01:26 AM) Thank you. It's like when the Cubs would try to minimize Wood and Prior's injuries knowing damn well they were much more serious than they were letting on. I don't care what Cooper said. I fully expect Peavy to miss at least two months. If the yankees lode Pettite to retirement I think they'll inquire about another lefty, Buehrle maybe. Perhaps wishfull thinking but that extra cash could allow us a few more options.
  17. just have to say, I loved Bobby but in the last few years I just left the room when Bobby pitched. I wondered if Ozzie wanted to leave the dugout to do something else while he closed a tight game.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 09:52 AM) He was exactly that before he got hurt. I guess it should have read walks to strikeouts.
  19. Teahans current minor league numbers don't look like anything like what he did this year while up with the whitesox. Currently it looks like he's going to be a singles hitter with little power. Good ratio of strikeouts to walks , no home runs one double. Perhaps he's being groomed as our future #2 hitter in the lineup. I believe th power numbers could improve later. Teahan's if his on base % and walks over strikeouts continue with the big club his return could be a difference maker for the sox.
  20. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 04:25 PM) I'm under the impression that this Kevin Youkilis injury is going to kill Boston's playoff hopes. Adrian Beltre is having a resurgent year, and while Beltre has a $5 mil player option, I think he'd get a ton more on the open market, so the Red Sox may as well consider him gone after this year anyway. More realistically perhaps, David Ortiz is also going to be gone after this year (club option 12 mil). Either of these players would upgrade positions where we are very thin. I'm not too sure they'd get to us in waivers, but I think there's a shot if Detroit decides it's not worth it to claim them, and we fall below Minnesota in the standings for a day or two (the latter wouldn't even need to happen for Ortiz, unless they wanted to block us, of course). I can imagine Ortiz sandwiched somewhere between Rios, Konerko and Quentin. he could put us over.
  21. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 3, 2010 -> 07:59 AM) That's still a serious hometown discount. His arb figures will be determined by the rest of the season. I have the feeling that he feels comfortable with coop but like Buehrle probably won't be satisfied with less than he's worth. That is why he didn't sign a deal earlier. My guess he gets premium money but not sabathia money. 14 to 18 mil 3 yrs. Danks won't have to go to arbitration. The sox know what they got.
