QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 23, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) To me his history saids otherwise. He isn't afraid to stand up and claim credit for unpopular moves, I don't know why this one is different. People were WAY more pissed off when he tried not once, but twice to get rid of Frank. He sure didn't blame scouts then. It just doesn't make sense to me based on the Kenny Williams that has been our GM for almost a decade. One can't guess what KW is going to do. Pauley has increased his trade value with a good August and September and I believe he will be shopped along with Swisher in the offseason.. Griffey will be bought out but he has proven that he can still put the bat on the ball. I'm thinking that KW will get a younger more consistent first baseman but may try Jermaine at first to keep him in the lineup for as long as we can.. I think if Jermaine could me moved to first he could replaced by a younger hot hitting corner outfielder which are not as hard to find as a centerfielder.. Wise and Anderson will continue to be platooned and roam our outfield grass. Anderson worked hard this off season and feel if he can learn to hit off speed and pitches and right handers better he could be a hard man to take out of the lineup. It is just ridiculous to have one of the best defensive centerfielders ride the pine while once great, Griffey and never ready for prime time Swisher playing in his stead..

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) I agree, Stone is good, but I really like DJ, even if he goes to the radio, I can't get the games, so it doesn't matter to me. I hope he gets a job somewhere.dj is not the one that needs to be replaced,, I can't stand hawk. pacioric i miss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How many times do we have to hear his 40 year old stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 06:50 AM) And we will not be getting any breathing room. Neither team has enough to deliver a knock out punch. I'm picturing a final weekend series with CQ, Joe, and Paulie all bandaged up with crutches, wheelchairs coming out like some Civil War fife and drum team. But, we could still win the division. Then we still have to play for the pennant and the world series if we win the Al pennant. We will have to play the world series.. I think then we can call in sick. -
QUOTE (Wanne @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 11:50 PM) I'd rather have a capable hot dog vendor than Jerry Owens. lay off of Owens he got a hit last night and it did make it to the outfield on the ground but it did make it there.. So all you Owens doubters.. It made it into centerfield..........

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) Better yet, why not just bench Griffey and replace him with an equivalent hitter and far superior fielder in Brian Anderson? Eh, who am I kidding? They'd never bench Griffey. He has 10 gold gloves!!!!1 I am not an advocate of Griffey in center but he seemed ok today.. He is ok when the ball is hit right to him. Not too much for him to handle.. At least in the late inning both Swisher and Griffey were replaced.. Ozzie knows a little.. My thought is can Floyd and Aj pitching plan seemed to not stretch Griffey's range too much. I was at the game last night and I always adhered to alternating Griffey and THome.. Yesterday, Ozzie must've hunched right.. I have never been to a more exciting game.. 15 inning and I said to my girlfriend that no one left their seats.. She countered with maybe they are waiting for the fireworks.. Duh but it was a great game anyway.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) Well I'll say it: We're f***ed. You can't lose your best everyday player in early September during a tight race and expect good things. I hope Griff, Kong, and Swish step up and prove me wrong, but just feels like a disaster. i think we should go young move Alexei to center put getz in a second he is a good left hand hitting fielder that has good numbers against both righties and lefties. Keep Brian out there and our defense is better.. Power is gone a little but we need to start playing like pyranna and start taking the ball the way it is pitched.. Opposite field. It is amazing that a broken wrist is found 5 or six days after it was originally xrayed.. That doesn't make sense. Now a pin how incompetent is our med staff

It's not like we're in a playoff race or anything

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:30 PM) Excuse me, but what happened to Griffey? Or why can we no longer play Quentin in LF with Swisher in CF? Oh and I would easily take Brian Anderson over Jerry "I have no business in the big leagues" Owens. Quentin and Griffey are both said have physical problems.. Griffey lower back and Quentin with forearm issues. -

QUOTE (shipps @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) The way the Twins have been playing here lately doesnt have me exactly shaking in my boots. It is up to Ozzie and his band of merry men. It is crunch time. All the pieces have to come together. We have a 50/50 chance at the central title and a 50/50 chance at the wild card.. I would be happy with either. If we make it we'll have to be playing at playoff intensity if not we are cooked. If we make the playoffs and the world series we will of course win the series. -
QUOTE (YASNY @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 04:48 PM) Tomko on the same team as AJ again? Yeah, that'll work.Sorry, I forgot.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 01:53 PM) I say if no one else really wants him do the guy a favor and sign him to sit on the bench during the last month of the pennant race. It will keep him in MLB and maybe the good will towards him will encourage him to put in a good word for the Sox with future FAs in Japan. What could it hurt? Reward the guy for his past contributions if he can't land a better job somewhere else in MLB. Amen brother, one can't possibly estimate how much Iguchi helped us during the 05 season.. He was a great #2 hitter.. Frank Thomas said he had the softest hands, I guess meaning he could place hit. How many times this year have we not been able to advance the runner.. Tadahito did it so well in 05. We should pick him up and Tomko too who seemed better toward the end of the season............

Iguchi released http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...sp&c_id=mlb Do we want him? He did well for us before but where will he play or would he be great off the bench.......

QUOTE (scenario @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) Paul Phillips... a RH catcher who split time with Armstrong at Charlotte this year. He's got MLB experience. He was on KC's roster last year. He had a nice spring training. There was even some talk on the board back then whether the Sox should move/dump Toby and have Phillips as AJs backup. Given the choice, I'd bring up Cole Armstrong not Phillips. I like Cole Armstrong too but conventional wisdom to the sox management is the opposite of what we may think......
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 30, 2008 -> 09:09 PM) I'd activate Linebrink and Wise, and brink up Wassermann, Getz, Fields, Owens, and Armstrong. I wouldn't brink up Logan or MacDougal. childers or phillips?
-
What is there to be angry about? We all just got overexcited about a team that is playing with no heart. We just lost 2 straight to the Carmines; the same team we played competitively against in Chicago.. It doesn't make any sense.

This is where the sweet spot is on this bat............

QUOTE (The Bones @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) I say go with the vulture. He'd be pretty much guaranteed to win since that is what he's been doing all year. In the game Richard pitches the orioles have said Waters will pitch.. Checking Water's splits a 6.15 era against left handed hitters. Thome, Getz, Griffey,AJ and Swisher may see action in that game.

Decision to be Made on Wise in Baltimore

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 24, 2008 -> 04:24 PM) I didn't realize he was that banged-up. That would explain why he didn't pinch-run for AJ in the 10th today. If you bring up a minor league player for even one game before september 1 or any other player that said player becomes eligible for post season play? Hollywood, Wise, Richards or whoever KW calls up before Sept 1 can play in the post season????????? -

QUOTE (griffey17 @ Aug 23, 2008 -> 05:06 PM) hell bring in Jenks in the 8th.... Isn't a closer suppose to come in a game on the line situation.. I've seen him do it before.. I've seen Bobby get out of a bases loaded situation before he became our closer.. Yes, why not..........................This was a game situation. I don't have an idea who can pitch well enough to close other than Bobby but ........ -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 22, 2008 -> 11:15 PM) Dotel may have been "8th on the list of our problems" but he was sickeningly bad.I am not an expert but Thornton comes in pitches well and he's ousted for Dotel.. Or any one else.. Ozzie does it all the time.. Thornton should not have been taken out. Dotel should shake that sybil personality that wants to give up the gopher pitch.
-
I just though about how tall Alexei is. He's 6'3'.. That would be tall enough to be a first baseman and could you imagine the range we would gain putting Getz at second and Ramirez at first.. Ramirez, Getz, Cabrera and Juan at third. We then could put Anderson in center and use Wise in right field.. Now that some speed no one would expect that line up. Oh we would use jd as our dh. Just a thought.............................

QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Aug 18, 2008 -> 04:29 PM) I seen on SSS that Richard is going to start tomorrow?? Haven't they seen enough of him?? When he came up for those first games he looked good pitching to a few hitters.. I believe and the sox management believes he should be at the show.. perhaps he was sent down to work on some mechanical issue. I think the sox coaching staff think that he's worth it. -
QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 01:18 AM) I believe they're both eligible to participate, I know Matt LaPorta participated last year which was the same year he was drafted. I'm not entirely sure on all the regulations however. Thanks, I know we are all eager to see what they have.. I may go to Arizona to experience some Afl games.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 15, 2008 -> 12:41 AM) It'd be nice to see the Twins lose 3 of 4 in all those road series you mentioned. Very nice. It'd be nice to see them finally have a s***ty homestand. On paper these next six look like gimmies. so far the al west has been the twins weekness.......18 games left with the west coasters If their current 08 win/loss against the AL west continues Twinks will will win 8 out of those eighteen. Or realistically Oakland and Seattle have been weakened considerably.

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 14, 2008 -> 11:37 PM) Do you try and work a slam of Anderson, who's name you still can't spell, into every other damn thread?Would beckham and Danks qualify for Arizona fall league or is that for more seasoned players? It might not be in their contracts. Just a thought.
