  1. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 17, 2007 -> 09:53 PM) KW is just about the only guy in the organization that I have unwavering faith in. He is just really good at his job.I was at the game 5/17 and I liked what I saw in Sweeney. Sweeney plays a better centerfield that Erstadt while Erstadt plays a very capable 1st base. Sweeney will improve at the plate and in the field.
  2. QUOTE(briguy27 @ May 14, 2007 -> 06:39 PM) i would love to have grudzielanek. at least then he couldnt kill us where-ever he goes, and also he hits very well at the cellI like I Iguchi he is kind of streaky but if we talk about Iguchi replacements lets talk about replacing Crede, Konerko, Dye, Makoviac and Cintron. Each is hitting less than Tadahito....... None of our hitters have a clue.. I wonder if the coaching staff particularly the hitting coach has a part in this dilemna...
  3. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 13, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) Of the CFers on the market, I think KW would be more likely to go after Torii Hunter...but if he continues to play like he has been and doesn't get injured, another team will outbid the Sox. The Phillies were 2nd in the Soriano sweepstakes (despite having Rowand and Victorino) and we'll be stuck with Erstad or another "bargain basement" player on the mend or hoping for a 1-2 year comeback player (ala Dye, Dave Martinez, Cory Snyder, Devereaux, Burks, Daubach) in his 30's. I love streaky players take Terrero batting .333 on base % .600. Will he be a major force for the sox... Doubt it... Uribe, I believe has found something. I believe he could grow into a great #2 hitter as long as he continues.. Iguchi has great hands as Frank Thomas said he needs to experience a little success. He sould have a better average with more power numbers down in the lineup. It just hasn't ahppened yet.
  4. QUOTE(JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ May 13, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) guess i'm the only one that feels this way oh wellwhen everything a manager does works you're a genius. If any of the moves failed we'd be faulting Ozzie.
  5. QUOTE(joeynach @ May 10, 2007 -> 02:43 PM) Yeah at least Ozzie noticed and didn't cover it with some political mumbo like most do. Heck hes even got eveidence if there is some tape from the broadcast of the flags only blowing (out) when the twins are batting. Well it wont be an issue for sure in a couple years when the twins finish their new outdoor stadium.I don't see any reason for not monitoring the vents on the circulation system if there is a possibility of tampering. FOul play should equal forfeit. Other stadiums also could be manipulated.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 3, 2007 -> 10:40 AM) It's going to take JD seriously heating up to regain interest from a team like the Dodgers. And the Dodgers running into serious problems with their offense as well (which could be possible, as I sort of doubt Jeff Kent will hit .320 all year). I'm not giving the Yankees Logan, but if they'd be interested in Floyd, that's actually something that might work. They'd probably take anyone who could give them innings right now. There are several teams looking for pitching. What we acquire is commensurate with who we trade. We might get Gload back from the Royals if they'd trade with us.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 1, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) Preach on. Nah, you can blame my computer for taking a complete s*** this weekend. I'm still trying to restore a lot of the s*** it lost (including the top 25, but don't worry, I have backups...just got to restore them). I have no idea how it happened either because I wasn't even home when it happened (I think my mom did something to it). As far as BA goes I'm not going to comment. I don't think he isn't going to report, that would be a real poor move by him considering it wasn't that long ago the organization went out of its way to give him AB's and an opportunity and Ozzie has said all the right things since BA's demotion (about BA just needing consistent ab's so he can become the player the org thinks he's capable of). I really think this is best for Brian Anderson and if he goes down there, works hard and makes adjustments and gets some confidence he'll be able to come up and in a couple years people may forget all about the start of his career (obviously there are a lot of if's in there, but he's capable, I don't doubt that, its just a matter of him getting more mature and realizing the massive amount of work he has in front of him and that it won't get easier, no matter what he'll have to always work very very hard). Maybe he was told not to report or held out awaiting an announcement of a trade.
  8. sweet swinging robin ventura may be available
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 1, 2007 -> 01:34 AM) Brady Clark already got traded and has a role on the Dodgers. He would have been too perfect for the White Sox, the exact same thing as Eduardo Perez. IThere have been quite a few other good suggestions too in Emil Brown and Jacque Jones. However, one other name I'd be curious about is Kevin Mench. He seems to be getting quite a bit of playing time in Milwaukee right now, but I know going into the season he was pissed as hell about being put into a platoon role. If he still were - and it really doesn't look like it at all - he'd be interesting, but I'd really question his availability at the moment. Brady Clark has batted 28 times this year. A role albeit not a big one.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 30, 2007 -> 10:52 PM) I dont think you trade any of our prospects right now. You either win with this core, or if we are out of it come trade deadline trade it away. Next year be somewhat of a rebuilding season and year after that we contend again. Some one is right.. KW if he makes a move it won't be for any upper tier player.. I would say a band aid player. Someone that is expendable an older fourth outfielder bats right hits lefties ok.. I don't know how well he fields. My guess, the 34 year old Brady Clark...
  11. I would say that outfielders are the most common comodity in mlb. True centerfielders that can hit, field and throw are more of a rarity. Anderson could do 2 out of 3. Here is the question.. with many teams that are deep in outfield talent and I believe we maybe deep enough in pitching prospects to lure away one of these outfielders. What trade would you propose.? Remembering that a better pitching prospect or reliever would get you a better major league ready outfielder. Who could we get reasonalbly aquire?
  12. QUOTE(Whitewashed in @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 06:25 PM) It did not look good for Danks the first few innings. He was pretty much a one pitch pitcher and still got it done. Tip my hat to the guy especially after seeing his final line of 6 K's. It's not a bad thing to lose vs. Johan so a very positive start for Danks. It isn't looking good tomorrow... Not only because we don't know what the hell is going to happen with Count, but vs Harden? 17.2 innings pitched and 29 K's for Harden in ST? Count better be on top of his game. Danks pitched well except for one pitch? Actually he pitched great but it was 3 straight pitches that they saw real well. I was at the game.. I don't know who is responsible for the pitch selection but danks was holding the twins at bay except for those 3 pitches the final one of course Morneau's home run. Each of the hits was solid the first 2 base hits were hit very hard the last morneau go under. What pitches were hit? I'm blaming AJ for calling those beach balls...
  13. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) A. trade for Sandy Alomar. B. trade for Griffey Je. C. trade for ARod Actually , I just read a story in the Tribune that suggests some kind of package to the Phillies for Rowand and Lieber. One package was a bullpen arm, Mack and somebody else. The other involved either Crede or Fields. Iexcel at multiple choice the answer is C, ARod. That would mean that we could unload a few utility players. We would have to make choices of who we were to trade or get rid of: Cintron, Ozuna, Mackowiak, Uribe. we would only need one player that could play second short or third. I would say fielding wise that would be Uribe hitting wise Cintron. What the Yankees would want in return I would say, Crede. Josh Fields would become our regular third baseman. Fields replacing Crede's salary would not totally take care of the salary difference but if we threw in a top starting prospect the yankees might agree to part with some cash perhaps the sum they receive from the Rangers. I would guarantee if we got ARod the cell would we sold out every game! ARod is like a draw like Thome people will come just to see him play!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Mar 13, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) Waffler. Many of our whitesox stars have struggled a bit when they made the bigs. ie Ventura, Konerko, even Rowand himself. Anderson success as far as Ozzie and KW surmise is his ability to hit lefties and his penchant for partying. KW and Ozzie removed his drinking cohort (McCarthy) and I totally believe the message was received loud and clear on why McCarthy was traded. I totally believe ozzie should implement a platoon in center, designated hitter or any other position where that player has shown and inablity to hit against left handed pitching or any particular pitcher. Hitting stats only tell half the story; seems like there is a fielding dimension and a rocket arm ANderson did have a few good months last year where he hit 300 or better and the downside of Anderson is he doesn't go all out and crash into walls subsequently going on the DL or getting into dirt bike accidents. Anderson takes good routes to fly balls and American and National league runners alike have come to fear his arm. I believe in Brian's abilty and future over any other option. He is our only true center fielder he will become a true hitter this year!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. QUOTE(shipps @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 03:01 AM) Tejada will be here midseason.Pods will not play 50 games this year.Thome hits less than 30 hr's. Ozzie will get his way and the defiant Anderson and the chicago native Mackowiak will also find a new residence. Eduardo perez will make the team Rogowski will play for a major league team this year. KW will get back more diamond in the rough pitchers in return.
  16. sign him to a minor league contract. what would it hurt?
  17. QUOTE(Chet Lemon @ Dec 30, 2006 -> 11:07 AM) Would the Nats take Phillips for Church? Washington only has three SP's listed per online depth chart.they need pitching in the worst way. I believe they need an established pitcher.
  18. QUOTE(VAfan @ Dec 21, 2006 -> 08:42 PM) Twenty replies and not one addressing whether Craig Wilson would be a good fit?? Off the bench we had: Rob Mackowiak -- hit lefties even worse than Podsednik, if that's possible Chris Widger or Sandy Alomar -- no hitting there Pablo Ozuna -- okay until he pulled his hammy. Then he went two months getting only 2 hits, yet never went on the DL??? Still, this no power guy is there for L/R balance?????? Alex Cintron -- as a righty hitter he is terrible. , whom we just traded. At least we added Toby Hall in an attempt to rectify the L/R imbalance at one position -- catcher. Now we badly need another right hand Guess who the best bench hitter was against lefties?? Yes, Ross Gloaded hitter for the bench. If we got Craig Wilson, I'd play him in LF most of the time. But he should also spell Thome for at least 20 starts against lefties. Thome was an automatic out against lefties in the second half last year. If you don't like Wilson, then come up with a better alternative. If KW doesn't address this HUGE HOLE, I'll be very disappointed. I know the problem with us hitting lefties . We have outfielders Pods and Anderson and Dye. Anderson is the only true centerfielder. It was mentioned before I think by Phil Rogers about Ryan CHurch.. He bats left according to his splits he hits lefties as good as righties. He doesn't make many errors. Strikes out a few too many times but even with that he managed a 366 obp.. Has a little pop can play all three outfield positions. I didn't source it but I don't think he'd be too expensive. Could lead off and might be a good #2 hitter. Washington is under utilizing him so is there any interest?
  19. In a dec 7, article, phil rogers said that there would be a dimantling of our '06 staff with a younger pitchers taking their roles. I believe we are loading up with quality sp and rp some nearly ready with some ready.. I often wondered why every year 2 or three members of a teams starting rotation is replaced by trades free agents etc. Minnesota, who I loathe manages to develop pitchers and other position players through their system.. We can too. We are now deep in talent one to two years away has KW taken a ready player and traded him for player whose time is a year away. I trust Kenny. I have no choice. I also believe there are more trades of pitchers and other position players developing.
  20. Everyone was so high on jeff bajenaru but he didn't do so well in the bigs. three homers 4 earned runs in one inning of work for a 36.00 era for the diamondbacks in '06.. he was lights out for us in AAA for . He now sits with a diamondback minor league contract. Any thoughts? Could he be back ?
  21. Matt thornton did well as a starter in the minors pitching 28 inning with 35 strikeouts allowing only 8 walks.. Seattle never started him although they were desperate for starters. it was stated in a Mark gonzales article that he would like the opportunity.I would love to start again. They're having a heck of a time getting [brandon] McCarthy in the rotation right now. He had a great career as a starter in the minors. That's something I don't worry about. If they came to me down the road to see if [i'd] want to start, I'd be more than willing. I'd love to. ... I threw about 28 innings [in the minors], struck out 35 and walked eight, but I never got a start in the majors again. It blew my mind, especially with the way their starters [seattle's] struggled." Maybe the #5 starter isn't a lock for Brandon. Have we seen all the contenders does Matt have enough?
  22. great signing he hit better in the second half of the season with the dodgers as opposed to the first half with the devilrays. He crushed lefties.. There is one thing that puzzles me.....we got Sandy from the Dodgers to replace Widger now we get Tobey Hall from the Dodgers to replace Sandy.. When we need another catcher in 3 years I guess we go to the dodger used catcher store......
  23. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 8, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) He will be better than he has been, but he probably was beaten down to the point where he will never live up to being the 4th player drafted overall. I would say he's got a chance to be as high as a #3 starter. New surroundings, new pitching coach...as long as Ozzie doesn't berate him like he did with Tracey, I think he'll be fine. for the record FLoyd had a decent rookie season in limited time 26 innings posting a 3.49 era going 2 and 0. 2005 and 2006 were busts.
  24. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Ya because no one has ever swung for the fences beforeCrede ground in to 3 dbl plays in one game this year is he a selfish player?
  25. to 2 QUOTE(daa84 @ Dec 7, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) its amazing to me that some peoples hatred for bonds is stronger than their "love" for the white sox. i hate bonds, but to suggests that I woudl EVER stop rooting for the white sox is nuts. i certainly dont hate bonds enough to ever do that. maybe others are different, but i would expect people who have been fans since 1970 would never stray in their loyalty to the team.....even if they did sign someone like bonds well stated Barry doesn't clog bases when he hits homers. Barry hits dinger about every 13or 14 ab.. If he plays a whole season he usually will be walked 100 to 232 times. His Obp would considering his last 10 years to be between 400 and 600.. Personally, I think the steroid controversy is a bit overdone.. Many Pro football players, weight lifters, and Baseball players have used them Lyle Alzado, Andre the giant they both had early demises but I think that should be a player choice he knows what could happen detection, law intervention and health problems. I was astounded when MCGUire was accused of it.. I always thought that the Olympics was the only place that a person had to have clean urine.. Professional athletes should not have to face such scrutiny. Honestly, If I was any good had warning track power and I knew I could drive the ball 25 more feet with a steroids and a proper workout regimine I would have and I dare say the majority of baseball players would have did anything to make the difference between the minors and th show or a mediocre player and a superstar. Steroids themselves won't make you a superstar you still have to have the timing and the eyes and coordination to hit a ball coming at you at 90 + mph and still drive it out of the park. Perhaps though there should be a clause protecting us if he is indicted for perjury or any felony that may take Bonds away from hitting the 22 homers needed to break Aaron's record or the 60 + dingers that sox fans should expect this season...
