  1. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Dec 6, 2006 -> 11:05 PM) Even worse. His health concerns me and crappy OBP scares me even more. we still have 5 starting pitchers this year and 2 more maybe 3 including Broadway ready for next year to replace other pitchers we can't afford to resign.............
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 5, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) I think someone needs to go all Tonya Harding on Aaron Rowand. Or we could just put a fence like 30 m. in front of Aaron and tell him to go. We don't need Rowand.. The other two Madson and Floyd are not anything intriguing. Why not get Burrell. Walker will get his RISP up from 221. Why give away GARCIA...
  3. QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Dec 4, 2006 -> 08:42 AM) I love Crede and would love to have him as the third baseman for the rest of the decade, but with his back issues, he might be at his peak right now. Trade value may never be higher.Crede is under our control for the next 2 seasons. We could give him arbitration this year instead why not give him a 2 year deal with an option for year 3 and a buyout.. Year 3 he'd be a free agent anyway. We could walk away after a buyout in year 3 if Joe's back is still a problem.. I don't know how his back condition would get better. It is well published about his back; his has to be a concern of other teams who would like to have his services.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 2, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) Link Read the section on the Mets. Heilman would be okay as long as he didn't pitch in June or July. Millege, would be a perfect compliment to Anderson and Podsesdnik with his 241 average.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2006 -> 05:28 PM) Brandon McCarthy's arbitration clock has already started.Finney
  6. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 23, 2006 -> 06:20 AM) I could see trading Joe if the sox were somehow able to turn say Ervin Santana into Carl Crawford. Or maybe get Scot Shields and Figgins. [not sure what Shields contract status is though. I believe he'll be a FA after 07--which means they'll have to pay him more than they just signed Speier to--a very hefty sum]. The sox could get by paying big bucks to Shields because the rest of the bullpen is pretty young and inexpensive. If the sox feel Fields is ready to play everyday in the bigs, I wouldn't rule a Crede trade out. And the LAA would make sense. A little sarcasm Fields and Gload can only get better at their 3rd and left respectively.. I'd say go for it. Santana pitches like the other Santana against us not sarcasm............
  7. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Nov 16, 2006 -> 08:58 PM) Get Hawk Harrelson into the Hall of Fame? As a broadcaster? This is a joke, right? Only if wimpy makes it first
  8. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) I'm not really suggesting the Sox get him...just that I love him as a ballplayer and think he is going to be a top tier CFer in the game, most likely for a different franchise. why even think of trading with tampa bay for value. they're cheap. They want minor leaguers who they think might make it big.. Best chance is with BA or Sweeney or othe minor leaguers
  9. QUOTE(R.Sweeney @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Oh I agree I just wanted to throw that out there thats all . As far as Coco goes ,I think a more likely scenerio would be Garcia for Coco and a quality prospect or two . I've spoken with Coco. I like him....... He's would be an assett to the team. 10. QUOTE(MarlinFan84 @ Nov 4, 2006 -> 04:31 AM) Who else made it?Excellent question, I started this in hopes somone else had seen last tuesdays show and could tell me... I was hoping someone else had a longer time to surmise who at least one baseball analyst picked. I thank you Marlin fan and william tell for adding to this thread. Espn, Kruk, who has been the best in supporting the white sox. IS all we have till mid MArch.
  11. I was playing cards and just caught his name on the screen.. Pierzinski named to all Kruk team.. I thought it was pretty awesome that someone had enough savvy to pick him as the best mlb catcher. .... batting 7th
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 25, 2006 -> 01:34 AM) What's wrong with .280 6 16 .362/.485/.847 in 150 PAs? It's not outstanding, but it's far from horrible. I think ARod numbers would improve if he was playing for the Sox.. I can see especially at our ball park a possible increase in his home run and RBI total. Being away from the tensions of the New YOrk media into the best fan base in MLB would help his fielding somewhat.. ARod can play a decent third base Uribe is better ss than Jeter which if Juan can get out of his legal troubles ARod will be better defensively. This whole thread the discussion of the money Freddie in the trade. The Litmus Test may well hinge on how the Yankees Doctors view Crede's back. not how joe and Boras see it. Steinbrenner spends a lot of money on his team and for some reason I think he wants them healthy. I'll miss Joe if he goes but if ARod has a good year playing for us I will find ways of dealing with the loss of good old Joe.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 16, 2006 -> 05:51 PM) Ken Macha should be near the top of the list for a bench coach IMO. Macha called all the pitches for the angels. that could be interesting
  14. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 22, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) I just keep coming back to this one, simple fact. White Sox Free Agents after: 2007 Jermaine Dye Tadahito Iguchi Mark Buehrle Freddy Garcia 2008 Juan Uribe (Option for 08) Javier Vazquez Jon Garland Joe Crede Jim Thome ($14 mil option for 09) And there are a few more on there. Thornton and MMac hit FA at some point, I just don't know exactly where. The point is this: our team has a boat load of players hitting Free Agency in the next 2 years, including 4/5 of our current starting rotation, our DH, our entire infield save Konerko. We just do not have the players in our minor leagues right now to replace all of them, nor do we have the money to do so. Jermaine Dye is in his walk year. It would be nice to sign him to a contract extension, but he is getting up there in years, he is coming off a career year, and he's just as valuable to someone else as he is to us. Every time one of these threads comes up, be it about Crede, Dye, Iguchi any of the starting pitchers...yes, the best option would be for us to hold onto all of them forever and have them never drop off, but that's just not going to happen. We can not afford to simply have these guys all hit Free Agency and walk for next to nothing, and we can't afford to resign all of them. Holding on to all of them is just asking for a collapse in 2008. BMac and BA can't do everything. At some point, we have to deal someone, probably at least 2 or 3 of these guys, for some youth in order to free up salary space and fill in holes. It's either that, or in 2008, we find ourselves paying $100 million and having half our team filled with AAA players. For an example of what that looks like, take a look at the 2006 Chicago Cubs. I don't know if it should be Dye, Crede, 3/5 of our starting pitchers, or what. But we need to move some of these guys and get younger, and we can not let talent like these guys have walk as free agents because we hesitate. Balta, you nailed it.. Some of these player will be gone .. Allegiances are gone in the offseason. Our payroll will probably go up. We are going to have to give up something to get something. Can't rely on AAA players.
  15. I have one question on the schedule....Last year we didn't and this year we won't play Milwaukee. ...Why?
  16. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 29, 2006 -> 05:40 PM) I'll root for the AL central teams, and if they don't make it, I'm for the AL in the WS. the phillies because Dick Allen played for them but I'll wear a Yankee sweatshirt because everybody hates the Yankees around here. When I don't care who wins I like to go against the crowd.
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Expanding on that thought... Gload is 30 years old. Its not like we are talking about a kid here. He has been a minor league free agent multiple times. If he was anything more than a bench player, we would have never gotten him on a minor league contract invite to begin with. Ross is a great bench player, a solid pinchhitter, and an OK defensive first baseman. A starter, he ain't. That is the stupidest comment I ever heard. Gload could start on many mlb teams. He would be a lot further along if it hadn't been for that shoulder injury. Great bench player if we didn't get Thome he would be our starting first baseman. He has more range than KOnerko and can play a more than adequate first base. Gload is just what we need and the fact that you mentinoned that he's 30 years old puzzles me is he a worthless part of this team because he's 30? The white sox I believe are better off with ross in the line up because he doesn't swing for the fences and just does what he has to do. Be it a home run or a bunt, or base hit.. He's as reliable as any player on the team. This 30 year old thing I don't understand he can play and the sox are more dynamic with him in the line up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 09:55 PM) Maybe the Sox will hit a bunch of HR, and you will get your fireworks! I'm glad I logged on. I had no idea.. I would have felt a little silly showing up at 5:00 seeing an empty parkingl lot.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) I think Crede's back situation means that the statement one could have made last season even stronger: Josh Fields will not be traded away until Mr. Crede proves he's healthy and signs a long-term deal, unless a very, very good deal comes along.We all love Joe.. I know MLB players love to have some guaranteed money.. No one can deny he deserves it. We paid frank for like 3 years when he was rehabbing something or another.. GIve Joe a decent guaranteed salary and give him some incentives if he stays healthy.. He's already did more this year than what was expected .........................
  20. QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 9, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Thanks man! I just want to know who says that a bullpen pitcher has it or not. Art Kushner, Man SO Lee, the security guard at the gate. Ozzie calls for a lefty or righty and if there stuff is not there who knows it.. Cooper monitors the pitchers when they are in the game.. Can anyone say Bobby's velocity isn't there, his curve ball is flat. Or do they go into the game regardless. I know they are professionals and are suppose to do their job but isn't anyone delegated to tell Cooper that Jenks sucks now and if you put him in today!!! it will be a big mistake..
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 2, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) People are gonna miss Hawk when he's gone, that's for sure. The wrong one left I still miss ....Wimpy!!!!!!!!
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Aug 29, 2006 -> 11:17 PM) Yeah. 95 wins will do it.tigers 16wins 15 losses =31 remaining games +82 wins =98 wins/ losses 64 minnesota 22 wins 10 losses=32 remaining games +76 wins = 98 wins/losses 64 Now if the sox can go 21 and 10=31 remaining games 77+21 =98/wins 64 losses... I discounted Boston but for the wild card and even the Central division aren't over yet . SO
  23. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:57 PM) Exactly. He was looking slider and got the fastball. I miss Carl Everett at least he had a different approach when he had 2 strikes on him.. He shortened his swing up stood more flat footed.
  24. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) You're in luck, Flash A commenter at my site says that's exactly what he has been doing, with him headed to the rotation September 1. The reason for the wait appears to be waiting for rosters to expand so they could add an arm or two to the pen, which seems a bit odd to me. Almost as if the Sox intend to go with a 6-man rotation. I still can't see Ozzie removing anyone from the rotation without a DL trip, and I think the only candidate for that, based on recent performance and Ozzie's post-game quotes is Contreras. Move McCarthy into the rotation and move Contreras into long relief. Contreras likes to be a part of the game every day and I believe that he could pitch effectively out of the pen 6 to ten innings a week. When we need someone in a game situation like in the sixth we bring in Jose and he puts out the fire and pitches an additional inning or so. He's the strongest most durable pitcher we have........................this would be great......................
