  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Widge is God. There is no other way around it. I think kw and Ozzie picked catchers who could call the best games . I have no complaint about widger or aj hitting. Widger hit a great home run off off of was it Zito. MY only complaint is throwing men out stealing bases . They are not so goof what about 20%. this could be better
  2. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 11:23 PM) I wouldn't give the Sox The AL championship yet I have seen Washburn and Byrd pitch some good games in the past against the Sox, I know there not your typical Aces but this isn't Washburns first rodeo. chisox says byrd is going tomorrow. I hope we can make short work of the halos because in the national league I think Houston is worn out too.
  3. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) Steff... Isnt this what the cubs, twins and cardinals use? If that is the case I have heard that it is better then ticketmaster, but I dont know if that would make anything better in regaurds to keeping scaplers from getting tickets. Anyway we look at it, the scalpers are going to find a way to get tickets, which sucks big time for people like myself Ok now that we know that we think there is a concpiracy with the ticket. How many scalpers with tickets will be at the game selling them off. Would there be a chance or would those who think they can get a ticket be clogging up the area? I won't go without a ticket but what be the word to those wannabbees at the balpark
  4. I told my son that Wakefield is going for Boston on Friday.. My son said why not on thursday have batting practice with a knuckleballer. So I said we have a knuckleballer in the minors. I knowit was used in this forum would it be legal to use on of our non roster players to pitch batting practice? What is our knuckleballers name?
  5. QUOTE(mrzo2733 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) I couldn't agree more. I used to work at a bar up at school and we would play that every single f'ing night around last call. Unfortunately, the mass over-playing of that song isn't limited to that bar. it sounds like the 1965 Frankie Valli and the 4 season's song "Let's Hang ON" it goes: lets hang on to what we got to what we got we got a lot. Lot of lofty living hang on ...hang on... to what we got. Is that it?
  6. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) That was a sweet article. Thanks for posting! Paulie went to Hockey camp according to one of my friends who was at that camp the kids called Paulie ,"goose". I wonder if 38000 people yelling goose would inspire him more than PauliePaulie.
  7. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Oct 5, 2005 -> 01:00 PM) I think you're right. Ol' Bloody Sock is the saviour, is he not? Buehrle is a streak pitcher I saw him get shelled and then come back an win the next 5 in a row didn't he have a 15 game streak between 2 seasons I think he's got another 11 wins or so before he falters but we need to get to that trash talking, shaving cream on the arm wearing and general gluttonous slovenly wells. Who after he loses will blame everybody on the bosox team but himself!!!
  8. QUOTE(VAfan @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 09:23 AM) Game 1 is critical for us. If we win, it will be our first playoff home victory since 1959.I think our strong suit against the Bosox is our pitching. Those wooden things that the white sox at the ball coming from the mound must be like pinochio and come alive and stay alive for all 3 series'. Remember this is like commentators say every year its a new season what players have done all season doesn't matter. It's the 200 hitter stepping up, the kirk gibson. If you look we have plenty of 200 hitters to step up some with experience in post season. We ar a lock
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 12:35 PM) He's getting on base, but he's negating a lot of the OBP by continuing to make outs on the bases. Since his defense is poor and he's not going to drive in runs for you, he's no better than a minimal offensive contributor. It's too bad that we haven't had a minor leaguer contribute when they come into the major leagues in a long time. Pods also has cost us some games in the field. CAn I ask anyone with 2 men on in the 7th on one or two outs pods with his 23 rbis is the scheduled hitter do you pinch hit him? we have McCarthy who has pitched well but Ozzie wants to go with EL duque. Anderson won that game for us at Seattle do we see him get another chance. THe line up Ozzie has going tonite will be the same as he always has.. GLoad, for instance would probably hit Santana better than Paulie will hestart at first and have Konerko DH. Willl Carl star in right Carl is better hitting from the right side. How can you expect a different result if you do the same thing every time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 09:59 PM) Exactly I think the sox players all had the runs.....
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 21, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) And you'd lose even more fans. I could care less about attendance if it didn't have a big impact on our payroll. Our minor league development isn nowhere good enough to provide cheap players on a consistent basis. g inside. Farmer was complaining the whole game about the sox not going inside. Yes, nobody could hit but the final three hitters reminded me of my playing days. Bat in the ninth behind by 8 runs. Why doesn't Ozzie pinch hit Posednik ever when he needs an rbi and finally I'm going to the game tomorrow because when I ordered the tickets I thought the sox would be battling Minnesota they are battling themselves as I see it.
  12. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 10:47 PM) Rally Crede i believe Joe Crede walkoff.. All night long one song kept going through my mind. From the rocky movies eye of the tiger we want it more.
  13. QUOTE(Bias @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) I didn't blame Jenks, but he did give up the hit. If you read my original post you'll see how I feel about Gas Can....err Marte. He (Boone) might be a dead pull hitter, but I still don't believe he'd turn on high cheese on the fists. I was at the yankee game when he had the bases loaded and nobody out earlier in the season. I was walking toward the exit leaving my outfield seats early. As the inning progressed I got closer saw the sacks packed with yanks and watched Jenks get 3 straight outs. I said to my girlfriend we just found us a new pitcher. I was also at the yank game in which Buerle allowed 9 runs to the yanks in the first inning. Next game he won and looked good the rest of the year. MB time to show why they picked you to start the All star game.. THe rest of the team needs to stop sandbagging and win a few in a row.
  14. In the ninth Crede made an out then to the top of the order.. I though how clutch is Pods he gets a hit then comes mr clutch, iguchi strikes out and Paulie does what he does best pops out. Is there a stat that would mean pop out at crucial time. I think he would lead the lead.. Give KOnerko a rest play Gload.
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Everett was a vital cog early when we were cruising to wins every night. Remember some pundits thought it was a shame Frank was returning when he did if it would take any at bats from Everett. He's sucked of late. I've never really been a fan of the guy, but if he can help us hold off the assholes then he'll be one of my favorites. Everett needs to kick ass this series somehow. I wish the guys would just stroke the baseball vs. Cleveland's good pitching and not try to jack 'em all out. When Carl was hitting and KOnerko wasn't Konerko would play everyday . Carl would be substituted a lot and at one time Carl and Konerko were almost tied with about 63 and Carl had I think about 100 less at bats. NOw that Carl is slumping we never see him out of the line up?????
  16. QUOTE(Toto Testosterone @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 04:06 PM) Buerhle was not only an ace but AL's Cy Young. About to go to 11-1 with a 2.30 ERA,... Then he threw a DP into CF in Oakland, blowing a 2-0 lead in the process. Pretty much sucked thereafter. I forgot about that game.. Remember when he won 15 straight middle of one season to the first half of another. He just needs a good win for a confidence boost. Kind a like when he faced the minimum against cleveleland last year.
  17. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) Pods' job is not only to get on base, but to get steals and score runs. He hasn't done that. Right now, he's the crappiest .300 hitter(for the month of sept) in baseball. Getting on base for him just means he's prolonging the out. Don't make a difference if you get on base and they make an out opposed to making an out at the plate. While he's truggling on the basepath, the field and When he comes up with men on with his 23 rbis I know he's not coming through. Think about it with men on and when we need an rbi who do want not pods. Remember he doesn't lead off every innning.............
  18. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 16, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) Buerhle is lights out against the Indians. I recall a 27 hitter 9 inning performance last year at a shut out opening day. He and Contrearas can beat the Indians. I was thinking the same thng of the flip flop of Mac and Contrearas. I think the Twins may do well against Jose. Is it me or has Buehrle's pitching woes seem to have started when he hit Hafner???????
  19. QUOTE(AirScott @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) well his CERA is 3.33 this year, but he has allowed 22 of 24 to successfully steal a base. I'll look a little more for the team's record with him behind the plate. Niether Aj or WIdger are very good at throwing runners out.. I don't remember Davis but if you watch our games they steal a lot of bases and Ajs and Widgers percentage is not very good. Olivo could throw out runners but had troubl;e with the bat and calling a game.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) If Hermanson is the closer...you put Hermanson in and you give him the game to win or lose. I won't fault Ozzie on that one. It's a closer's job to be able to, you know, close games. Garcia should never have come out for the 6th. You're right on that one. But Hermanson had the 9th, good or ill. Yeah that 's Hermansonsn's job agreed Ozzie will pull some guys right away like did he not pull Cotts when he thought he didn't have it didn't pull Garcia, he didn't have it in the sixth and Hermanson got Sweeney then couldn't harldly throw a strike and those that he did throw got hit. YOu tell me those royals that got hits weren't exactly all stars.
  21. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 01:41 PM) You know, I was all for the switch to 670 due to having resided in Wisconsin up until recently. Too many nights, even in Lake Geneva, AM 1000 came in like crap and the station would fade out in the middle of a Sox or Bulls game. The idea of a stronger signal just makes way to much sense. However, when this thing was finalized, my first thought was, implode the station. Get rid of all those jackasses. Because, I feared s*** like this. This is becoming like a nightmare, for crissakes. I live south of chitown and when the u broadcasts I listen to the game on mlb.com. I can get 670 loud and clear here. If North was on next year I would have to buy mlb .com radio again so I could listen to our oppponents commentary rather than listening to him :
  22. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:29 PM) Actual Countdown to AL crown & ALC crown: NA EN:White Sox 87 55 20gr 17 EN: Red $ox 83 59 20gr 15 EN: Angels 81 61 20gr 14 EN: Yankee$ 80 62 20gr 13 EN: Athletics 79 63 19gr 15 EN: Indians 82 61 19gr 07 EN: Twinkies 73 69 20gr 00 EN: Tiggers ELIMINATED 00 EN: Peasants ELIMINATED This week's action: CWS (@KCR, @MIN) , BOS (@TOR, vOAK), CLE (vOAK, vKCR), NYY (@TAM, @TOR), ANA (@SEA, vDET) ANA has a fairly easy sched down the stretch (4 out of their next 20 vs contenders (OAK). We might be looking at ANA hosting CLE & the CWS hosting BOS. That wouldn't be so bad. I will be at the game on the 22nd against Minnesota we will clinch on that day. I will bring my clinch clothes.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) For next season, which shows the main aim this off-season for this lineup is to get a #2 hitter, unless someone like Aaron Rowand can fill the void; http://www.dailysouthtown.com/southtown/co...ia/x11-ard1.htm why is everything next season. Ozzie changes the lineup all the time. Uribe has shown much improvemnet at taking pitches and if anyone hasn't noticed Pods hasn't been as active on those base paths lately.
