  1. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) evert, rowand, dye, pods, Id love to have him but there is no room No room timo is a left handed outfielder..... consider griffey a slight upgrade
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 10:52 PM) Carl Everett has not been the type of LH hitter we need. He's been much better as a righty this year. .244 .301 .460 .761 There's his AVR, OBP, SLG and OPS vs RH pitchers. Look we want a Left hand power hitter. We have KOnerko How about scouting THome. (Thome is a second half player) WE want Wagner.. YOu give our prize for Wagner ( McCarthy) Other is they have an underperforming LIeber we have an under performing Conteras who looks good then looks bad. We have a young second baseman named Harris and they have an older 2b/3b named Ramon Martinez. There is a lot of ifs on both sides WE are giving a power proven 1b and they are given us a great reliever. I don't know about the equalities money changing hands or all the specifics but I do know if THome who is a decent american league hitter could come back to form the rest of this season he would be worth his paycheck and more.....
  3. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 02:04 PM) Ok, now I think I can choose E casey Blake can have his opinion. I would hope if the sox got swept by division rival that they woudn't say that team was unbeatable. Actually last year I mentioned to my son that I liked Cleveland and the way they play. THey have a lot of young players that seem to just want to get a base hit and win games. I told him we need to have a team that had less power hitters and more situational hitters. I think Cleveland will beat out Minnesota this year and will be in it next year if their pitching improves.
  4. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 09:56 PM) Yeah, I heard most of the commentary too. I tuned in at the point he was apparently trying to refute a Sox fan's charge he has an east coast bias. To paraphrase him, he said The Angels have had lots of coverage too, so he said perhaps it could be called "both coasts" bias but that was reasonable since the "group" from the midwest (i.e. the central) hasn't really done anything in recent times. Then he threw out a stat that really is worth looking at. He said that against .500-plus teams, the sox were only something like 29-28, which is reason to be skeptical of their playoff chances. This point is worth discussion for various reasons: (1) is it even true, (2) are some of the losing teams under .500 because the Sox beat them (3) are the Yanks & Angels records against winning teams any better. Discuss... SFF Seattle swept the angel in their last 3 game set and Tampa Bay owns the yankees in their head to head play. An old saying is "the proof is in the pudding" we don't prove anything by talk we have to show our doubters we're for real.......................As for me i believe :finger
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Prediction: this sparks the Shingo love fest. Bruce said that Jon Adkins would like come up for long relief. Bruce said we may be looking for another closer and a starter anyway. Bruce didn't mention my man Bajenaru whose ERA is 1.07 in 50 innings of work at aaa charlotte.
  6. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 01:09 AM) Here's the deal, folks. With 30K fans in attendance, you are going to get more and more that come to the game for the sake of entertainment than die-hard Sox fans. No, I don't do the wave, as a rule. There are exceptions to the rule, like if I was with a bunch of kids and it was all about them having fun. If they wanted to do the wave, then I'd participate for their sake. I'm a waver. SOmeone started it and when it came to my section I stood up. I sit in my seat and stay at my seat the entire game I love baseball but I will be a fan no matter what many people come to the game and the wave is something to get them involved in the game. There were close to 38000 fans all enjoying the game. Everybody Don't come to the game and sit and study the game like I do. But I love the deafening noise for support when the crowd is with the sox and that is what a crowd is suppose to do. As for being distracting, it is. I know cccertain players like Frank don't like it. I couldn't tell with the others.
  7. QUOTE(ceffa2000 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:07 PM) I get Mondays game but why so many tickets to Wednesdays game? Its a day game and everything? monday night is 1/2 price night the last couple of mondays have been sold out. Tues is buy one get one free but only has to do with the upper deck seats only I believe. I thought the cell held 38000 + but the numbers tonight were 37445, or close to that figure on the screen, a sellout, or something so what is the cell's capacity? Tonight the stadium rocked!!
  8. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) Leo Daigle -- No contending team should ever have him anywhere near the active roster. Let's not forget the 40-man implications a drug induced Daigle move would create. --- I don't want Randa. If you're going to pick somebody up from the Reds whose name doesn't rhyme with 'done' than it better ryhme with "F'real?" 40 man implications? YOu wouldn't give a guy who hits with power and average a chance. When we go to 40 man the sox will bring him up if he's doing well. I could give a damn what his past performance was but if he's turned the corne bring him up. The sox are the slowest when it comes to trying out their minor league talent.. We end up sending them in a deal somewhere else instead of getting the benefit of their play..
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 17, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) Ya throwing left handed is a problem And I wouldn't say he can play the OF. He can stand out there and catch weak flyballs, but thats about it I guess that means he couldn't be a catcher either. He is an excellent first baseman. Charlotte also has leo Daigle, he's 25, playing third. He was brought up from winston Salem high A where he was hit .362 with 24hr 24dbls and had driven in 85 in 269 ab. THey moved him to Charlotte aaa where he has to reprove himself but so far has got his average up to .282 while showing some power. He was playing 1b /3b and is being used more at 3rd at Charlotte. Probably not ready but one can always hope....................Better than paying 8 million a year to a person who bats 239 and is signed for 3 years by the fighting fish..
  10. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) Two years ago we wanted lowell and they said any deal for lowell would include the Marlins getting Crede.. So the much maligned Crede is sought after by other teams. THis may not be true today I think the MArlins would like to dump Lowell's salary .. Crazy thing called economics for small market teams...............It looks like he's on the downside of his career. :headshake
  11. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) I think the answer here is Obvious.... Aubrey Huff.... Big back... Can play 3B for now... and when Crede is fully healthy it allows us to give Konerko his walking papers... Plus can spell the OF too... Big bat... Impact player.... For a package of Anderson, Sweeney, and BMAC maybe the DRAY'S Will bite.. anytime Konerko and walking papers are used in the same sentance I get excited. get huff
  12. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 09:54 PM) I'm going to that game too. I went to 2 games in KC earlier this season and had a blast. Good seat there are cheap and easy to get. I don't know much about KC, but it's the closest AL city to me so that's where I catch most of my Sox games. I was told and you'll see it when you get there US cellular is designed after KAughman Stadium. It is $5 to park and there'll be a lot of sox fans there. Th KC fans will congratulate you if the sox win. I was at the game when Valentine hit 3 homers. in 03
  13. look at Ajs outings this year he's kind a like sybil. He not consistent.
  14. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) Timo was the only one in the Oakland series to do his job. No, I was there and a beer vendor made sure my beers were coming when i needed them. Timo gets 6 out of 10 and he turns a corner!!! He still can't field and even after 6 out of 10 is only batting 250 in 80 ab. "Willie don't fail us now Harris" is failing us now. Konerko could do a lot better fielding and hitting. Gload is a better fielding 1B more range is faster getting to the ball. Gload won't have his HR totals but would be more consitent and can run a helluva lot better on the basepaths. Aren't we suppose to be playing small ball or did I miss something. :headshake
  15. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 08:45 PM) i disagreed w/ JC in the 7th......he did well i disagreed w/ marte coming in.....he did well. I still disagree on how ozzie uses Politte. One batter? like Politte can't handle a lefty. THe fact that Dam pitched ok is not the point
  16. Ryne Sandberg , Yahoo Sports, picks sox world series in chicag. However he did say St louis will win it because of their hitting and improved pitching. What's your thoughts?
  17. QUOTE(crash @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) If the Sox won the World Series, I'd probably participate in a riot. I have a friend who had to drive through an area of chicago after the Bulls won the championshiping the mob was shaking and rocking her car. She loved it! As for me I think it would be great and especially if we paly Saint Louis. That would be the real I55 turnpike classic.
  18. sure have but right now Rogers is at the top of his game
  19. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 10:41 AM) DO you have any years to go with those numbers, because he has just really started to get dominant in the last several years. we need him! He's a dominating pitcher 2.41 era. Go get him! KW said money won't get in the way!
  20. QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 09:21 AM) Have You Seen Griffey play this season? Griffey is having a very good year. I am sure you have seen Rowand play this season. What exactly has Rowand done this year to make him "Aaron Almighty" in your eyes. Visquel isn't any better than what we got. Schmidt hasn't proven that he's got his form back. I'd say if we are going to get someone old get Kenny Rogers at least he's proven he can pitch this year of course there would be contingency in his contract about how he should be kinder and gentler with cameramen. And while you're at it get Bagwell Frank and Bagwell both have almost the same amount of homers and could celebrate their birthday together. Remember KW in an interview money wouldn't be a problem. Get If we made the trade quickly we could have 3 starting pitchers in the all star game.
  21. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) If Juan Uribe is equal to Omar Vizquel defensively, I need to start watching a new sport... I don't just monitor this site I go to every site that may give me enlightenment on what Kw is going to do and I think he's taken an inordinate amount of time finding a deal.. I hate to say this but I think he's going to get some underachieving veteran in their last season to address our needs and for that he will pay for them with talented prospects who may be a year or so away from contibuting on the big league level and they won't be playing for us. Come on kW you said money is no object. SO who we going to get. it's 7/11 pull the trigger so we can relax or second guess you. We want to see a word series too. 03, you said chemistry in the clubhouse improves when you start winning games so you got who you got and didn't care about Chemistry. This year you are majoring in chemistry.
  22. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 06:27 PM) Why does this make me less comfortable? If gooch is batting when pods is on he makes many sacrifices. Taking a pitch so pods can run so many times gooch ends up with just one good chance to hit the ball. Hitting 250 avg in front of pods I think is unbelievable.. Gooch is also being fooled by changeups which he didn't see in JAPAN. Also when umpires give an extra inch or two on the outside corner and the ball continues to break outside another 2 or 3 inches it is impossible for him to hit. Example Maddux non strike curve balls umpire like to call strikes against us.
  23. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 11, 2005 -> 01:33 PM) Really Pods is supposed to steal home? PK gets so many f***ing RBI chances it's insane. He hits like f***ing .222 w/ RISP that's a joke! His RBI total is highly overrated due to the chances he gets. But your right, it's Pods fault people never drive him in. Damn you Pods.. :banghead :banghead :banghead Wow thats one of the f***ing funniest things I've ever said. Remember at the beginning of the season pods would get steal 2nd and then 3rd and get caught between 3rd and home or make stupid base running mistakes.. Since that time i noticed he's been doing better in those situations.. I wondered how at times Konerko would have more runs scored than Pods? I've not heard of Cora only praise so it must be POds who had gave an early high incidence of being thrown out at the plate when a ball was hit on the infield.
