  1. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:27 PM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...hitesox-utility Can anybody find the article from last year that Frank was quoted saying that he's going more for homeruns than Average now that he's hitting homeruns at a record pace he said he'd rather hit for average 345 and led the al. I like frank and don't care why he's hitting hrs but does any one remember the o4 article and his quote.
  2. Crede will be alright his back should prove to be better and he'll be readyafter the break. REst will do him good.. If I was his doctor I would say that what is causing his problem is swinging at outside curve ballas out of the zone and not taking pitches he can't hit. Shorten his swing and going with the pitch if it is outside taking it to right. In other words I like Joe and with what we pay him we have a solid third baseman that is dedicated to the team. In o3 met some of his family in KC by chance and I was awed by what he's been through for the last what 9 years he's been in the organization including minor league. I like joe! Where is our allegiance to him.
  3. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 10:03 PM) Long overdue munoz was pitcher of the month and Baj can pitch 1.73era
  4. QUOTE(CubKilla @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) The gesture is nice but I had a bottle of Dom once and I must say it sucked ass. Total waste of $250 (I think that's what it cost at the time). the bottle of Dom ok but kneeing Tori hunter for being a chickens*** priceless>>>>>
  5. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) I'll give you that. WAS there a reason Crede, and dye didn't play.. I would've put my best team on the field to win not the final game but the series. I was pleasantly surprized by TImo getting a hit and Konerko finally showing why he's an all star.. I don't get taking out the most effective pitcher Politte after doing his job he can go longer than an inning and a 1/3.. All star Homework for Ozzie: We need someone I don't care who that can strike out the opponents Cotts, Viscaiano, and the rest of the staff get 2 strikes on someone and can't get the job done. Ask the whitesox hitters what bad pitches and pitches they swing badly at so they can throw similar pitches to our opponents in the second half. Otherwise good luck
  6. [On pros sports off the fox sports that Mark Redmond, pittsburgh sp might be available before the deadline era of 3.96 Pittsburgh can't come to terms with him
  7. QUOTE(whitesox91403 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 04:46 AM) I would like to be the Manager of the whitesox so everyday I could check the lineups and make sure no one is pulling pranks like starting Timo in right field...
  8. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) I think Willie would be a great #9 hitter. He would be able to get on base in front of Podsenick and those 2 would create havoc on the basepaths... that being said as much of a Willie fan I am Iguchi is 2 important to this team for Willie to play. Fox and aparicio batted #1 #2 fox must've done for aparicio the same way that iguchi does for pods. Its a different game when they are not together
  9. QUOTE(PutItOnTheBoard @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 03:02 AM) way to go scotty If I had a girl like that I'd bat 600 and steal 200 bases a year and never get thrown out
  10. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Off the top of my head... '64 Phillies '69 Cubs '78 Red Sox All teams that lost large, late season leads. I think the Angels blew one to the M's a few years back, but I can't remember what year. Regardless, this race is a LONG way from over. Here it is 57 -27 ... to get 95 wins we need 38 more victories. we have 78 games reamaining and Ozzie is going to try and win all of them except those games he puts timo in.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) IMO, this was a deal that almost everyone knows that either Willie or Timo is going to go, and this was sort of a tryout game on who goes. I think Timo obvioulsy had the better day, but I would rather see Willie stick around rather than Timo. I was just thinking Willie has in the past was being groomed for the leadoff hitter. I've seen his average a lot higher than it is currently. He with the right tutelage steal a lot more bases and he is a better than average fielder at second and not too bad in the outfield.. Since he is a true leadoff man there must be some team that could use him. We are fortunate that we have Iguchi at 2nd and Pods but someone could use him. As for Timo he can speak Japanese he can go to any team that gets a Japanese player that doesn't speak english.
  12. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 9, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) Today was Ozzie's normal, throw in the bulls*** lineup. He's done this before, but usually he does it on the 3rd game of the series. Walker actually pitched ok.. I'm thinking the scouts might have seen Timo get 3 hits and did he hustle getting thrown out at 2nd. No one's going to buy willie but he can field.. Any takers out there for the trio. I'm sure someone is looking for some subpar performers to add to their rosters.
  13. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) I love that Oscar Gamble picture.. He was platooned and still managed 30 hrs one year. I loved it when he came up. How about a sox talk section at every home game
  14. [schmidt hasn't proven anything yet. He hasn't shown anything this year that would make me mortgage the future of our team. Crede if healthy is a solid 249 hitter the difference between 250 and 270 is about 2 hits he takes away way more than 2 hits as he fields his position. Unless we can get schmidt with a one player deal like KOnerko an everyday player for Schmidt I would say no. We can win our division easily with the personel we have in place. Timo excepted
  15. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) It doesn't bother me, just caught off guard. I was thinking maybe one was copying the other. In all star balloting they pick rf, lf, cf, 3b,ss, 2b,1b, and catchers with the best numbers.. Those are positons well the leadoff man is a position too. Podsednik has not not only become a great leadoff man but the man who goes first is also a team leader something that statistics don't always show. Many teams have never seen a pure leadoff man and so far scotty has has proven day in and day out his value not with home runs rbis but with intensity on the base paths. Perhaps his dissenters have never seen how baseball is suppose to be played.. Show em PODS.
  16. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) Ok, for one Joe Borchard is probably as good as gone, Brian Anderson isnt going to be the 4th OF, if he doesnt start in the big leagues which I think he will than he will stay in Charlotte. And no one is really saying Frank should stay just because of the HR... Frank should stay because of the impact he has on this offense and the fact he is a >>> hitter than Konerko. Joe Borchard isn't that experiment over yet. The sox aren't getting their 5 mil back. As for value on the team I would say that PAUlie would get us the most for us in a trade. A power hitting first baseman and like Crede are free agents at the end of the year. I like Paulie he's good for the team but if we got the right player I think KW would pull the trigger. Look at Schmidt who is not my choice they are asking a lot. Paulie would demand a lot too.
  17. Last year we go Shingo with his 67 mph frisbee not taking away from that Jenks with his 99mph fastball and his 85 mph curve we have the classic closer. Now if he performs we have undoubtedly the deepest bullpen. Someone will have to go.
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) I wouldnt say that, maybe recently but not overall for the whole season. Dye has a beautiful stroke and you can just tell . He's seeeing the ball real well. I think his average will top 300 before season's end with 30+ homers. KW did well signing him
  19. QUOTE(The Critic @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) A dominant power pitcher WOULD add a certain something to the Sox. I just don't think Wood's the right guy. Clemens? Now THAT I'd love to see.... I would trade Everett even steven >Carl could help them. woods would florish here. Backlash would we get converted cubs fans in our midst. I don't think he would have as much trouble with injuries because we have herb Schneider and cooper as a pitching coach.
  20. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 30, 2005 -> 04:41 PM) He didn't HR off Schill. mY BAD, I just saw the article :banghead
  21. QUOTE(PutItOnTheBoard @ Jul 3, 2005 -> 06:09 AM) fucc it.. lets just go to a four man rotation....this fifth starter thing is getting rediculous....that has to be the number one priority at this time....ken williams is good at pulling off deals that you don't think will happen...hopefully he can pull a rabbit out his hat and get us a quality fifth guy to go behind el duque How about Kaz Matsui, He's not plAYING. he's not adjusting to the mets but there is a lot of players that have trouble in the big apple. His contract is done at the end of the year and I think the mets might just let him go.. I think his stock would rise in Chicago.
  22. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) DJ kept talking about the curse of Oakland, the Sox were a lock to win. Crede who makes 400k and timo who makes 1 million a year are the heroes
  23. QUOTE(ChiSoxfan123 @ Jul 2, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) easy 1-2-3 inning for the big man Diminishing skills Clause can we waive Frank it sure looks like he's doing what Sheffield said he was going to do if he got traded. Great we got one
