  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 6, 2012 -> 01:32 PM) I'd say .240. We expected .259 avg so this year he needs to hit 320+
  2. don pasqua, Ron Northey, Bubba phillips and Sammy Esposito.
  3. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Mar 3, 2012 -> 10:00 AM) Don't forget Pablo Ozuna in your "cheating scumbags" rant.on with us #1 hate player David Wells, in my book who badmouted the sox during and after his time was up whith the sox and although well thought of in baseball had a bad season with us blamed ever one of his problem on the sox. I thought his problems were because he was overpaid fat guy who had to blame other people for his own shotcomings.
  4. QUOTE (Hawkfan @ Mar 1, 2012 -> 09:32 AM) Alex Rios has moved up in my book. I've been golfing for 15 years, and have been a golf course general manager for 3 years. These actually seem like honest scores for his first 60 days of golf. Most adults who play at his level of golf are pathetic and even are able to lie to themselves about their scores. Golf is already a difficult game, but when you actually play by the rules, it is by far the most difficult. That being said, this guy really sucks at baseball, and his stance and swing looks that of a 9 year old girl. That is an insult to 9 year old girls everywhere.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) Mark Gonzales ‏ @MDGonzales Rv doesn't rule out Rios in RF, viciedo in LF, more PT for Dunn at 1b. They're trying to work Lilly in at 1b and ss. As skinny as Dunn has become. We might hear Du
  6. QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 09:09 PM) I doubt there'd be much debate. You'd take Buehrle if you were in a position to win now and Sale if you were building for the future. No team in win-now mode would want a rotation full of guys who have pitched out of the bullpen for the last year and a half. We'll always have doubts about each year befor spring training then again sometimes even after the sox lost their commanding lead in 2005. I remember when the sox couldn't get a win with whatever #5 pitcher pitched. I have lot more question marks than I did last year with an inexperienced manager. Is their an award for rookie of the year manager, best comback who thought he was Dunne. One positive is Morel hitting with authority at the end of the season.Beckham showing that he can be the star we figured he could be. RIos, Fukodome, De Aza, our 3 new starters too many question marks for me to comprehend but I will root for my whitesox while hoping for a miracle on the south side.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 09:37 AM) Really, no you can't. Oh maybe it is wishful thinking then.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 15, 2012 -> 09:21 AM) His career OBP is way too high for Jeff Manto's liking. My thought is good obp ,draws walks, and if he could be a good #2 hitter we could have DeAza, Iguchi and with Paulie hitting 3rd we'd have righty lefty and our rbi man paulie hitting third to drive them in. I can assume he will be as good in the number 2 spot as Iguchi was when he batted there.
  9. [/color]QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jan 31, 2012 -> 11:59 AM) If AJ gets a statue it diminishes every other person that has gotten that honor as a White Sox and that's as far as I'll go on that subject. I'd be perfectly ok with Konerko/Buehrle getting statues too. How about we take a section of seating out and put up statues of everone who might be considered for a statue Blum should have one too.
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 29, 2012 -> 03:25 PM) Friarforecast.com Does he get a look as a NRI this season?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 30, 2012 -> 08:33 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/sox-drawer/...&feedID=661 We've known about his bad hip hampering his running ability while last year anothe leg injury slowed him down further. Pk continues to be one of the best hitters in mlb I have to wonder if his hips and legs may be the reason he will eventually retire .
  12. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 29, now 2012 -> 10:17 AM) I just want to know why he plays the "woe is me act" so often. Kenny likes to give us all kinds of diversions to sway us from what he is really going to happen.
  13. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) There's a problem in American management whereby people are promoted until they exceed their capabilities, then are stuck in a position at which they do not excel, leading to incompetence at every level. I agree with the people who think we should avoid that problem with Lillibridge and keep him in a spot where he excels: the bench. Additionally, I don't think there should be an open competition with Beckham because Beckham is still significantly younger, offers a much greater potential reward and played GG-caliber defense last season. Unless Lilli shows he can play that level of defense on top of his bat (which has probably peaked) it doesn't make sense to bench Beckham. Particularly not in a year that, by all accounts, is meant for development and the long-term good of the club. Peters principal "all men are promoted to their highest degree of incompetancy. If any one ever watched BL during practices on the field during spring training practices there is no one that practices harder. 9 players take the field in every game he in varying degrees he can replace 7 of them. If any one of the 7 positions need to be substuted he can fill in. If Brent is platooned for his 183 bats or he bats 400 times I believe the results would be about the same. BL having a career year while so many of our regulars were enjoying their worst years means what?
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2012 -> 08:23 AM) At least offensively, absolutely. .792 OPS, hasn't touched .750 since. Defensively he didn't, because he was playing 2b and it took him a while to become a really good SS. When Ramirez was signed it was alleged that Contreras helped sign Ramirez. Will Ramirez be helping the sox sign Cespedes?
  15. QUOTE (MEANS @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 07:38 AM) yup, I totally hate this, Cincy is a little over an hour away and I still don't get to see many Sox games on TV. I try to get to around 5 games a year, it's just a bit far to drive (we go up and back the same day/night) so it really kills the weekend. We did the Ozzie plan in 2006 and it was fun but brutal with all the driving. We always hope for Reds/Sox interleague b/c it's so much nicer to drive down to Cincy. Instead of those lame t shirts that hardly anyone has a chance to get. I think the sox should give away tickets , cash prizes and jersies at the park besides the 1/2 the pot. Do the theory that if you gave away the seats you'd still make money. Not all the seats but the ones usually aren't filled also if you are attending a game sitting in the upper deck, you love your sox and should be rewarded so how about giving away some scout seats as prizes at the ball park. What sox fan wouldn't enjoy the possiblity of being moved from the upper deck to a scout seat during the game , Or at a future date. That would perk some interest and make our loyal fans excited for another game and be rewarded at the game for their support of the Whitesox.
  16. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 2, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) l He has 2,880 at bats in his career as a leadoff hitter with an .853 OPS. Sizemore has always played well against us so perhaps KW will try to aquire Grady pay him too much and for too long. Perhaps, the same way he gave Teahen a deal he couldn't refuse.

  18. QUOTE (Papa Tru @ Sep 28, 2011 -> 09:12 PM) Yeah, imagine if we had gotten anything from Dunn, Peavy, and Rios.. we did.... grief.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) The lineup doesn't lack OBP...that's provided by the boppers. The problem is that it lacks OBP outside of the boppers. That means...it lacks someone who can lead off, unless De Aza can fill that role. I like deAza, leading off if he got a few more free passes he bould be even better as our leadoff man.
  20. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 07:57 PM) You just can't contain Rios It looked like Rios until the ball was hit.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 08:40 AM) I voted for Humber, but only because I love stories like his. Plus the guy has been hit by a line drive in like the last three games he's pitched. He deserves my support. There us too small a sample size for me guess. Humber pitched well earlier having very low era leading the team. It has only been of late he has faltered. Zack seems too have good stuff against a demoralized Minnesota team.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 26, 2011 -> 12:56 PM) Basically, it's hope. And a realistic aknowledgement that if Dunn isn't back to close to the usual Dunn next year, we're not going to be fielding a winning team. 285 + pounds of dead weight.
