Konerko to address media this afternoon
wallyburger replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am sensing he is too classy to do a never ending Mariano Rivera tour of the league farewell. -
Get a new deal done with Peavy now!

Another 6 inning 100+ pitch outing. -
Jake Peavy wins AL Pitcher of the Month

His pitch count is still mind boggling. Last night 122 pitches in 7 innings. -
Congrats to Paul Konerko on career HR # 400!

Very sad that in the juice era, 400 homers is not the benchmark it should be. -
Can't be worse than a Dominican with a borrowed name and a bogus birth certificate.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 25, 2012 -> 09:09 AM) Home run of a write up by Barry Rozner http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20120123/sports/701239691 I approve of this opinion.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Jan 2, 2012 -> 04:18 PM) Wow, you have no issues with a roster that's probably closer to last place in their division than first. It's this acceptance of mediocrity and blind loyalty to this ownership that will keep this Sox mired in the dumps for decades. Reinsdorf's act would have played out a long time ago anywhere else except Chicago. Michael Jordan not Frank Thomas is the reason why Reinsdorf has remained viable this long. Sox fans would have a cardiac if someone like Arte Moreno took over. Imagine having an owner committed to winning rather than one who constantly whines about the cost of winning. All we do is talk about accounting issues. It's Reinsdorf's responsibility to put people in the seats - not ours. Let him find something else to do if he can't deal with the economic realities of what it takes to be an elite organization. 120 million dollars - that's chump change - he needs to spend at least half that much on improving the sorry state of his minor league organization. And mark my words, you will never see him pay a luxury tax to get the Bulls and their long-suffering and loyal fans a championship. Chicago needs sportsmen to run their franchises - instead of these ma and pa run organizations that eat off the team's profits to survive. This town deserves way better than what we have. I'll now await the expected barrage of criticism from the Reinsdorf lemmings. +1

Twins signed Willingham and these 2 guys are possibly available.

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 07:08 PM) Miss him already Maybe they'll let him tarp slide down there. The roof is retractable. No rainouts.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:37 PM) I doubt it. He'll probably talk about it every year, and then sign another contract at the end of this one. The new Brett Favre My sentiments , exactly. Josh Johnson is the ace of that staff in Miami and Anibel Sanchez is the #2. Looks like Mark will have to compete with Ricky Nolasco for #3 in that rotation. That's is a lot of money for a #3.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 01:38 PM) I think i'm more shocked that so many people seem to like the Man Up miller lite commercials. Agree, wholeheartedly.

What can the Sox realistically expect in a trade for Danks

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 10, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) Stop right there. NO ONE is going to take on Jake Peavy for essentially $21million in 2012. Just forget about it. Arrrggghhh! Thanks Kenny. Maybe the Yankees are crazy enough. They have no one on that staff ( healthy ) after Nova And the fat man. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) My guess is Lamont will be the bench coach. I also think McEwing will get the 3rd base coach job and Manto will get the hitting coach job. I'd prefer Laker be the hitting coach, since he's familiar with the young guys, but the Tribune hinted more towards Manto. I wonder if he speaks Spanish, because we're going to need someone to help with the Cubans and other Latin players. If I am not mistaken Lamont didn't actually endorse the Ventura hiring. Anyone for Albert Belle?

What can the Sox realistically expect in a trade for Danks
wallyburger replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would rather see Peavy gone than Danks. Younger arm with stuff. Wonder if there are any thoughts for Matt Thornton being converted to starting? With Beurhle and Peavy gone (possibility) there would be room for 2 starters. Sale and ?????? -
Is Carlos Quentin going to be on this team in 2012?
wallyburger replied to sunofgold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would hope he is gone. He is not a RFer. He is the IR list waiting to happen, every year, and is a salary eater. Even if he is only worth a couple of single A scrubs, at least his departure would open a spot for young talent, no matter what that source might be. Sticking DH types in RF ( see Jermaine Dye ) is a bad solution to a bad plan. -
I'm loving the choice. Now bring back Fisk. Robin can be his own batting coach.
-
Semi officially done and ready for the house cleaning.
-
Zach Stewart would get my vote, but he might do it for some other club if Kenny is still around to trade him for another aging washed up DH.

McKeon: "GUILLEN WOULD BE AN IDEAL FIT"

QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 05:15 PM) It's pretty obvious he will be their next manager. They want him and our fans want to run him out of town. Easy to figure. He'll be very popular in Florida. And we will begin the 3-4 year cycle of managers again. Who will be the first guinea pig to take the Sox job? Popular with who in Miami? The mythical Cuban/American/Hispanic fanbase, that Luria has built his franchise around? -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 13, 2011 -> 06:03 PM) Really. OK. Well, whoever it is, sorry. It's really not personal. Truly pathetic disclaimer.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) And you're naive if you don't think 99% of fathers or future fathers don't agree with me. I just come out and say it without trying to look like a nice guy. If I came home one day and saw my 6-year old son kissing another 6-year old boy, I'd go f***ing apes***. I'm not going to try to be understanding. I'm gonna be like WTF is going on and attempt to put an end to it immediately. Anybody who disagrees, I'm going to pull a Balta, you're lying to me and yourself. I know a family who had a 24 year old son come out of the closet. His father couldn't handle it, totally disassociated himself from the son , emotionally, socially and financially. The son was a working partner in the family business. The son ended up putting a dress on, literally going back into his bedroom closet and blew his own brains out. His note said, I am back in the closet Dad.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:01 PM) Hey, you gotta take the good with the bad when you make that choice. And I'll never believe for a second that people are born gay. GMAB. Mankind would end if everybody were gay. I believe it's a combination of environment, influences, lack of a strong male figure, boredom, curiosity (this is almost always the case with women), etc. Well, you are dead wrong on every count. I am now convinced that you don't believe what you are saying.
-
QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 11, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) lol David Cross has a great bit on the choosing to be gay thing, I'm too lazy to find it and post it though. But basically, if you choose to be gay then you're also choosing humiliation and depression for a good chunk of your life. Also, homophobic is the most misused term I can think of. Just because someone doesn't want to associate with homosexuals or jokes around with other straight people calling them gay doesn't mean that that individual is actually scared of homosexuals or believes they are lesser human beings. And I hate those goddamn commercials that tell you not to say the word "gay." f*** that. But, it is pretty gay to hate on gays or think they're lesser in any way because they happen to be very different. I've never actually met a gay dude or a gay girl that I'd call gay/f**/etc. but I've met all kinds of straight people that I've said that about. And I know about some of the reason why (there's a good Louis CK bit on that which I am also too lazy to post) but IMO there's nothing wrong with calling a straight person gay as an insult, or a gay person gay in a matter-of-fact kind of way. It's all about how you say it and who you say it to. So your mentors are comedians? That would explain much about what you are espousing. You really don't seem to understand the label " homophobic ". It is exactly what you say it isn't.
