Maybe Iguchi gets so much down time, because in the " immoral " words of Oz, "he is not one tough Venezuelan". You know those Japanese can't tough it out. Ichiro probably gets 30-40 games off per season( interject sarcasm qualifier here ). Gotta get PT for Pablo and Willie, right??????? Ozzie shouldn't think. Anytime he does, we lose.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 15, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Can we fire Ozzie today? Why wait? Ozzie has blundered his way through these first 2 years. I have no idea how the Sox won so many games the first half. It was amazing to watch. One run wins, scheduling, other teams screwing up. It seems to have finally caught up with this team. They may hold on in spite of Ozzie, but it would be blind luck for Ozzie to win it. This team seemed to win in spite of him. Should he go. Hell yes. He never shpuld have been here in the first place. I really think he was an over seer while Jerry dumped payroll and things went crazy good for the Sox. Hell they will keep him around for quite a few years, because if this team goes into the dumps this year, I can't imagine how bad it will be for the next few and he will be the distraction Reinsdorf needs.

Ozzie calls meeting with Vets before Weds game

It seems as if Ozzie is rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. -
QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Me too. Krusty the Clown would be just as entertaining of a manager as Ozzie and perhaps the same baseball acumen. If you are looking for an argument, you will have to change the subject.

Just amazing how out of touch with reality Pro players are. Greedy, selfish, egotistical. Watch me, love me, adore me. They just whooped up on the worst team in baseball by a 1 run margin in each game. The only one who should be concerned about attendance is Jerry. It's entertainment folks and maybe the Sox do it with vanilla. I love the Sox, but some times it is equivalent to watching paint dry. But, wtf, I am an out of towner and just observing.

QUOTE(bkmoney @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Wait hold on now. Selig was on PTI last week I think and they asked him if there were any more big names that have tested postive, and he said specificly said there was one young player who had tested positive. Now was Selig just not telling everything? or is this report not true? Because there haven't been any more announcements to my knowledge about that player. The appeal process must have been very very fast for the stories to work together. .... if Bud didn't deny "others" then what he said about one young player could just be considered "evasive dialogue". It's like switching gears. " are there any more big names......" " there is one young player " non denial denial.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) May I ask, whyClemens would be so shocking? The guy has gotten bigger and bigger as he's gotten older and older. He's over 40 and still huge. How about the 'intensity' on the mound? Intensity is one thing, throwing a broken bat at Piazza for no reason could be roid rage. I essentially said the same thing on another board about Clemens and got my ass blistered for it. I'm sticking with my perception. The guy has Bonds syndrome. Big, mean, surly and getting older/better. Screw these cheaters.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Way to endear yourself as a new poster. Try admitting you're wrong and move on. 2 different opinions, you just decided to make it personal. Guess that comes with 1,706 posts. Never can figure out why some would rather argue the person and not the point. -

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) The offense isn't great.. but if you're going to attempt to argue money spent at the very least try to use facts to back up your claims. I deferred to you, the expert. Enlighten us with your wisdom. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) I don't think the Griffey Jr. trade is about money. If it's true the potential Reds ownership buyer won't make an offer without Griffey Jr. on the team, then he's not going to get traded. I am talking about cheap all year, not just Griffey. Jerry took Maggs, Lee and Valentin money and flipped some of it over to the pitching staff and pocketed the rest. Bevery Hills staff and a bargain basement offense. I really think Jerry's problem is he is a risk free guy. He just won't hedge his bet. His budget was his only consideration and Kenny thought the pitching would carry the club. -

Right now K.C. may be the only team in the division who are not a threat to the Sox. The rest of the schedule is loaded with inter divisional match ups. Woe is us. 3 better teams chipping away at Sox, "insurmountable" , lead. Can't complain about the Sox offense.......because there is none. Hey Jerry, you cheap SOB, way to blow another one. He just sucks the life out of Sox fans. -
It has gotten to the point , for me, that I will watch the opponent's feeds on DTV before I will watch the Sox Broadcast because of Hawk & DJ. I am an out of towner, so I get this option. The Hawk rants are just so over the top. He has become nothing but a JR spin doctor. Is this latest episode over the Ozzie "homosexual/pedophile" blurt? If Hawk is defending that one, I am totally lost on this guy.

Minoso & Fisk is not as inspiring as Ruth & Gehrig. I honestly don't understand either statue's significance. I'd rather see one of Shoeless Joe.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) Oh Damn WCIU...game's not carried by DirecTV. Guess I'm hanging out in my office with the network connection for an extra couple hours tonight. I hate WCIU. I've gotta do the Gamecast thing on ESPN.com.

Which Sox Prospects do you Think Are Untouchable

Jeremy Reed and Michael Morse. Oops. -
QUOTE(Bighurt52235 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Anyone else freak out watching him try to catch flyballs? That one last night where he bent over and stuck an upside-down mitt straight out was ridiculous. A high popfly..... Me. me... me,me. Pick me, Timo is brutal in the field. Last year when the Sox came South to play the Marlins, I watched the 3 game series from the First base /RF lower boxes. Timo was in right for the series. I never knew anyone could play RF so badly and be in the majors. Slow to break on the ball. Terrible angles to the ball. No arm. My friends who didn't even know who he was ragged on him the whole series. Timo spelled backwards is OMIT.

is anyone as tired of konerko as i am?
wallyburger replied to thelatinoheat_30's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Nope. Paulie is just fine with me. Makes me laugh though when Paulie's lack of speed is brought up against him. Someone please provide a list of the all time fleet footed 1st basemen or even current ones. Can we just b**** about Timo? -
This thread is way too long to read all the way through, so I hope this is not redundant. Saw the game on Fox Sports Detroit. The Tiger play by play and analyst gave this take on Jose. He hardly throws strikes. Most pitches are out of the strike zone and if batters are patient, he has to come over the plate and many of those are meatballs. Sure looked like it in the 6th. That game could be the blueprint for opponents in future outings. That is a fair analysis of the style taught to Cuban National players. Junkballs off the plate.

Does Gload get paid major league contract money or minor league contract money at Charlotte?
-
Good guy. Might have something left in the tank. Where is Cal Eldred when we need him? He can have Harold's seat between assignments.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 12:45 AM) Well, this article can be summed up like this: If Gload was a latino player, he'd be on this team. Everyone knows that Timo is basically Uribe's translator. It's not like we're a team loaded with young latin players. I thought Ozwald Jr. was the translator. Timo spelled backwards is "omit" which is what he should be on the roster.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 14, 2005 -> 10:27 AM) I won't even go that far. I wouldn't bring up Borchard just because Timo sucks. If JB is not going to be an upgrade, then don't do it. I really do think Joe is an upgrade over Timo. He is not as much of a dropoff from the starters as Timo is. If Timo was any good, I don't know that we would be talking about Joe being brought up. With a sore arm, I don't see Ross playing any outfield. Teams will run on his arm and the Sox are supposed to be built around pitching and defense. Even if Joe is brought up to showcase, then fine. I would rather take the chance on him up here than down in Charlotte. There will be a lot less pressure on Joe if he is brought up into a healthy outfield than if he is brought up if Dye pops a hammy or Aaron knocks down a wall.
