  1. With all the recent talk of the possibility of Andruw Jones to the White Sox that I've heard on radio and tv, I decided to find a little dirt on the internet. I know most of you don't find MLB Trade Rumors to be a very credible source (nor do I most of the time) but since I saw it I thought I'de let everyone know. According to the source the site spoke with the sox are close to acquiring Jones for Anderson and young pitching. Theres not alot more information than that provided, but I was shocked to see it and in all honesty, if this is credible, I would have no problem with the trade. Anderson will be a good player and he's still young, but I believe Jones is in his mid 20's and is probably the best defensive centerfielder in baseball, not to mention the power he has. Sign me up for it. What do you guys think?
  2. Today the sox aquired David Riske from the BoSox. Not a bad move. Riske was on the 15 Day DL earlier in the season and in limited work he has a 3.72 ERA, an 0-1 record, and 9 2/3 IP in 8 appearances. I wouldnt be surprised if the sox make another move. This will probably work out in the end, but I don't think he's our savior either.

    Comedians

I absolutley love stand-up comedy and I have a difficult time deciding exaclty who my number #1 favorite is. I can't decide between Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black, and Dane Cook. Dane and Lewis bring alot of energy, but Jim's delivery is great (and Beyond The Pale is hilarious) and I haven't watched Dane Cook's Tourgasm yet but I can't wait to see it. They all have their strong points and I had a difficult time finding one thing they all have in common but I managed to- alot of their lines are completly random. Post your favorites as well, I'de like to know what comedians people like. By the way, for the Gaffigan fans, does anyone else think its about time this guy got an HBO special? P.S.- I'm not a big Mitch Hedburg fan, is there anyone else who agrees?

    Spamalot

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 12, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) I was able the see it early in it's initial run in 2004 at the Shubert Theatre with Hank Azaria, David Hyde-Pirece and Tim Curry. It's a wonderful show, crisp and funny. Since I saw the show early in its conception, I saw two musical numbers/scenes that have been cut from show since that time. One was called "Burn Her!", which was a 20s style dance number during the Witch trial scene. Very funny, it inclused digs at the show "Wicked" Another was right before the cow launching. The castle turned around and the actress who playes the Lady of the Lake came out dressed as the cow and sang a French-style ballad called "Adieu" . A side note, My college buddy Jeff played Patsy in the current tour that you just saw. your friend was great, he was one of my favorites

    Spamalot

I was lucky enough to see Monty Python's Spamalot before it left town last week. I don't know what everyone thinks of the theatre, but this play was absolutely hilarious. Python fan or not, this is a must see. It's a Broadway play that actually makes fun of Broadway. They even make fun of the songs that they're singing within the song lol. If anyone else has seen it, post your thoughts. This may have been the best play I've seen, and, I've seen a few very good ones.
  6. I don't want anyone to misunderstand what I wrote. There's no doubt that I'de love to have Crede for the rest of his career if it would be possible, but Fields really could still fit in somewhere in the future, like OF, as we mentioned. I just think he's too valuable and I think it would really have to be a mega-deal for me to be OK with him leaving.
  7. I don't know why alot of people on here keep bringing up Josh Fields as a possible trade candidate. He's a top prospect and if they can't get a deal done with Crede, (lets remember he's a Boras client) then he is most likely your man in the future. BTW, I've heard his name brought up as a possible outfielder if they can't get a deal done for someone. I don't know about that idea, I'de still like to see a Clark or Crawford in a Sox uni.
  8. I don't know about the possibility of this, but I would absolutley love to see the Sox get J.J. Putz from Seattle. High 90s fastball and a nasty breaking ball.
  9. I was surfing a few sites today and ran into a few interesting names that might be able to help out in the outfield. The possible CF's were Ryan Freel, Joey Gathright, Juan Pierre, and Torii Hunter. Possible LF's were Alfonso Soriano, Luis Gonzalez, Pat Burrell, and Raul Ibanez. Personally, I find Ryan Freel the most interesting name on the board. His average isn't the best right now but he will steal a good amount of bags. Plus he can play CF, 2B, and 3B. He can also leadoff (as he does in Cincy) if Pods needs a day off. You might say we already have a player like him in Ozuna, but every play in the outfield is an adventure with him. I'm not sure of his contract status, but he's a young guy that the might be able to sign if needed (ex. Dye doesn't resign). Who do you guys think would be a good fit out of these candidates?

  13. Im a little upset that Munich was nomianted for best picture over Walk the Line, but at the same time im not surprised because the academy has a hard on for steven spielberg. Im also a little upset that 40 Year Old Virgin didnt get the nod for original screenplay. Best Picture- Brokeback Mountain Best Director- Ang Lee (dont count out spielberg, very tough pick) Best Actor- Phillip Seymour Hoffman Best Actress- Felicity Huffman Best Supporting Actor- George Clooney (Paul Giamatti might get the upset) Best Supporting Actress- Rachel Weisz Adapted Screenplay- Brokeback Mountain Original Screenplay- Crash (picking the favorite, but this catergory is wide open)
  14. We also have 6 starting pitchers. 5 of whom are under 30. I'm pretty sure we will get some good value out of our guys for alot of years.
