  1. QUOTE(qwerty @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 03:10 PM)
    How about loaiza robbed himself? In september he gave up... 5, 5, 4, 3, 3, 1 earned runs.

    you act like giving up three runs is a bad thing. 4 runs is still below the league average. Even a Cy Young candidate is entitled to a few bad outings

  2. Speaking of slides, that slide by Blum was a work of art. How he pulled that one off is beyond me. I noticed that guys are adding a lot more finesse to there slides this year. Aaron has done them, Pods has done some. Ive seen more of those kind of slides this year than in years past. Do you think that this has to do with the umps sticking with the play longer instead of the old "well the ball beat him there so he's out" type of mentality? whatever it is I like it. :headbang

    I was wondering if any of you are the same as me.

    I have not missed a whitesox broadcast this year.

    If I am at work i listen to them on the radio.

    I the game starts befor i get home I have it on the tivo..

    Heck I sometimes even listen to the game in the afternoon if it is an afternoon game and than i get home I watch the comcast replay.. WTF!! Issues I tell ya...

    :gosox3:

    If your not normal than neither am I. I cant say that I haven't missed a broadcast, but I am always checking the score via the web on my phone. My wife even tells me that how the Sox are playing determines my moods. I think I have issues also :banghead

  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 04:11 PM)
    Actually having pods on base helps the guys behind him a lot, so I completely disagree with that statement.  Also we were scoring a ton more runs at the beginning of the season, so your point is off base imo

    I kinda agree with Jackie on this about Pods not helping with everyone elses hitting. But you brought up a valid point in your earlier post about guys behind Pods in the order seeing better pitches when hes on base and wreaking havok. I guess we'll have to wait and see

  5. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:27 PM)
    That bad part is he won't be coming back 100%. That sucks, he can go on crazy base stealing streaks if hes ok but since hes not its going to be harder. I think he said hed probably be back around 90% because a strained or pulled muscle is not something that can heal right away.

    He does add to our team wether hes 90% or 100%, hopefully he can get back to form and give us our good leadoff hitter back.

    If that is the case why bring him back? Is this a smart move?? I say let him get healthy, why risk him totally blowing out a groin and then missing the playoffs completely.

  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:18 PM)
    Wasn't Pods supposed to start playing tonight in the minors?  All I know is that he wasn't playing tonight, and he's not supposed to join Charlotte until Saturday.

    I heard he was on his way to charlotte today. He is supposed to play Sat. and Sun. then be back for the opener in Texas.

  7. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:16 PM)
    You make it seem like he is going to hurt the team. While I don't think Podsednik is to jolt the O to score 6+ more runs a game, but Pods>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Timo/Anderson/Ozuna.

    I also think it will provide a boost to the other players on the team, knowing an All-star at the top of the lineup back.

    He definately doesn't hurt the team, thats not what Im saying. But all I hear is that we have gone into a slump since Pods went down, and I don't see how him being back in the lineup is going to miraculously make everyone start hitting again. I hope I am wrong. Maybe its a chemistry thing. who knows

  8. When Pods comes back, if he is 100%, is this going to be enough to awaken our sleeping bats? I personally don't see how him being in the lineup makes the team start hitting. I see him as a threat that keeps the opposition on its toes, by forcing plays and causing pitchers fits but thats it. Am I wrong, what does everyone else think?

  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 08:59 PM)
    It's great to see and great preparation. Winning a division in MLB should be hard, right?

    I know many of you may not agree, but I don't think there's another pitching staff in the entire league that matches up with the Sox. Look at what Count, Freddy, Mark and now Garland have done this last week. Stepping up in big games, putting the whole team on their shoulders and saying let's go.  :headbang

    You are right, we are the only team in the AL that knows what our starting rotation is going to be come playoff time. I think we match up well with anybody. The only thing that remains to be seen, is did our pitching lapse when we were in Boston, or are they just that good that they could push around MB and Jon.

  10. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 05:17 PM)
    If they don't win the division it will be pathetic, horrible, humiliating, life negating, etc. Everything else I could probably stand them not winning--but not the division, not this year.

    I agree with you, since they werent even factored in the equation at this point. I will be happy taking the division. Everything else will be icing on the cake! :gosox1:

  11. QUOTE(BainesRules @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 12:26 AM)
    I am a frequent visitor to the boards, but rarely post.  As a long time White Sox fan, I have been conditioned to fear the worst.  However, I believe we have absolutely no chance of making the playoffs.  In fact, I will be shocked at this point if we even match last seasons win total.  Am I alone; am I crazy; does anyone else have any optimism left.  I always try to change loyalties; I wish I could give up Sox fandom and become a Yankees fan, so I can cheer for a winner, but no matter how hard I try, I always find myself going straight to stories on the Sox.  Forgive my unfocused rant, but I am just trying to make sense of why I keep wasting my time rooting for a team that will never, ever amount to anything better than second place.

    Do everyone a favor and go root for the Yankees. The Sox don't need fans like you

  12. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:05 PM)
    I can't believe some of you people.  Contreras pitches great on Sunday & now Freddy pitches great on Tuesday & you're jumping ship?

    After two fine performances like that how can you give up hope?  Were we expected to beat Santana in the dome today?  No.  But we made him work his butt off for the victory.

    If we keep getting great starts like this the wins will come.

    the thing that makes it frustrating is that we are going to have to beat pitchers like that if we want to make it anywhere in the post-season and we aren't doing it right now. I dont blame people for getting a little nervous because we have had it so easy all year long. We just have to hang in there and wait for the team to get back to playing the way they are capable of.
