QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:38 PM) So how many people here facebook? As much as I hate the whole concept (and I know everyone always says that), I'm on it....

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:23 PM) No, I definitely appreciate the knowledge, KJean. See, a major like Accounting or Financing seems to be right up my alley. I believe that's what my mom majored in, and Math has come pretty easy to me always. The problem that I have is I don't apply myself -- the whole solving equations thing to me just gets boring, but it's easy -- and I can see myself doing something with real-world numbers. Or, maybe I just have an ass-backwards view of what Accounting/Financing is... Yeah you def. need to like math to be an Accounting major. You're required to take fun stuff like Calc and Stats and such. For me it was easy, but I know a whole bunch of people who struggled with it. But the key is you have to really enjoy it or else you're just gonna be going through the motions. That being said Accounting isn't just math at all. If you go to MU and the college of business who have to take 2 semesters of it, so you'll get a good idea if it's your kind of thing or not, cause people either hate it or love it. The College of Business at MU is really good. Great teachers and a lot of connections with Milwaukee and Chicago companies.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 09:51 PM) Can I ask you what you're majoring in, and did you know what you were majoring in before your freshman year? I'm undecided as of right now. I have an idea. Do they (the university) help you w/r/t getting you help with deciding your major? I'm a Accounting and Finance major. I went there knowing I wanted to major in Accounting, but just recently decided to double major. The College of Business is great with exposing you to all different types of majors (well they actually require you to take a bunch of different classes in and out of the college of business) and it's "easy" to pick up a second major or minor the way the programs are set up. I can't speak from personal experience about the university helping with deciding majors. But they give you the flexibility to take a huge variety of classes that sound appealing to you, esp. if you're undecided cause then you'll probably go into the College of Arts and Sciences. My roommate started as a Journalism major but switched to Broadcast Communication this past year and she didn't loose any credits or have any go to waste. Plus it doesn't really matter if you're undecided your frosh or soph year, it actually can be quite good because then you can take a variety of different classes and such. Wooo sorry that was long, hope it helped.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) CS1, I'm looking at Marquette and University of Wisconsin right now. I've visited Marquette, loved the campus. It reminded me of Chicago -- except, a little bit shrunk down -- and I love Chicago. I'm also looking at UofW, because I've had a teacher who said she loved the campus and the whole aspect of it, and she's extremely down to earth, and fairly young, too. I want to be close to Illinois -- close enough for me to be able to drive home if I feel like it, yet far enough to where my parents will have to call if they're visiting. I go to Marquette University right now, I'm going to start my Junior year in a few weeks. I love it there. It's a great campus, the people are nice, and there are some great teachers at MU. And it's in downtown Milwaukee so there's always something to do. Plus it's away from home (Aurora, IL), but not too far away! Love it and can't wait to move back.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 10:14 PM) It was last spring training. Brian Anderson hit a foul ball that struck Joe Crede's infant daughter. http://www.dailystar.com/dailystar/printDS/13611.php OMG! I didn't hear about that! I was thinking "she isn't even 2, I hope she didn't get hit", glad everything turned out fine. Thanks for the link!

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 09:50 PM) didn't Crede's daughter get hit in the head by a foul ball in ST a couple of years ago? Ummm...she turns 2 in November, so I hope not!

I like Crede...a lot. Great article and it's good to see some Crede love around here.

He shaved them off! And on Elvis night too! How sad.

Guillen points his finger @ defense, not Contreras

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 10:22 PM) Whomever said it before is correct: Crede makes the most untimely errors on this ballclub. Someone with the means needs to find out of all his errors, how many led to a run. I'm estimating it has to be fairly high. I'm not overly critical of Crede, because his defense is stellar; but he sure bobbles/ overthrow baseballs at the worst moments. I agree with you that it seems like he makes untimely errors. But he also seems to get homeruns and RBIs when the Sox need it the most. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) gees, people. YOU CAN'T JUDGE THAT. Have you ever tried to bag a drunk, hot chick? If you have, you've failed your parents. :rolly Stupid analogy? Yes? But it's not fair to judge her ... and the only reason we're talking about it is because the media are whores. I agree with everything you've said. Everyone makes mistakes and stupid decisions, it's called being human.

YAY! I love his new sideburns. But I noticed in today's (Thursday's) game that he switched back to batting with the gloves. He seemed to be doing great without them.

I didn't go to Lollapalooza unfortunately But I have seen The Redwalls perform live when they opened for Keane a few months ago and they played such a great set. I had never heard of them before, but they sure caught my attention. Plus they're all 20-22 years old which is amazing and they're all from the Chicago area. I also got to meet them after the concert (I swear I'm not a groupie) and, even though a couple of em were out of it ( ), they were a nice bunch of guys. And I've also seen The Killers in concert too, and I agree with you. It might have helped that I was front row and with all the action, but nothing that amazing. Glad you fun!

I agree. I quite new here on Soxtalk and when I was reading everything people were saying after last night's game, I was wondering where the heck all the fans were. I'm thinking of staying away when we lose too. But it's good to see everyone happy when we win!

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) That sign about Joe is fricking awesome. Hope they showed it on TV and it makes the papers so Joe knows. The Joe sign was great and I hope he reads about it somewhere too!

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) If Crede makes one error every 45 games, I'm not going to b****. s*** happens, move on, Jesus. THANK YOU. My thoughts exactly.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:12 AM) Welcome to Soxtalk and I agree with your assessment of Joe Crede 100%. Thank you! And I have a question, if anyone is still reading this thread. I've noticed that for both yesterday's game (7/18) and tonight's game (7/19) Crede has been batting without any gloves. And as far as I can remember he always uses gloves at bat. Is there any reason for the change? And does this have any effect on his success at bat? Just wondering!

QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) I read somewhere the Sox want to upgrade third base. I hope if they acquire Randa or somebody then don't trade Crede, merely have another guy here to push Joe. I think Crede's a pretty good player. I don't think the organization should take his defense for granted. He's pretty valuable, don't you all agree? I would NOT trade him, not this year, not winning the way we are. I obviously think he's VERY valuable. He's only made 4 errors this entire season, the last one being on May 15th. And he makes tough defensive plays, like the two during the 2nd inning tonight, look easy. A lot of people point to his offensive as being a sore spot. It would definitely help if he could bring his average up. But it seems to me that when the Sox get themselves in a tough position, you can count on Crede to help em out in one way or another. I think it would be quite foolish if they traded Joe.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:41 PM) Looked spectacular on tv as well. He did indeed!

On another thread I said I really liked his new sideburns! And now after tonight we can definitely say that they are quite magical!
-
Did anyone happen to see tonight's game?!?! Yeah. THAT is why we love him.

QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 16, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Love him or hate him gotta like his new sideburns though..... damn...and that RBI double he just hit Awwww I love his new sideburns, seriously! They suit him well! And plus, he's the best third basemen out there...you can't mess with that! I heart Joe Crede
