SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
illinilaw08 replied to letsgoarow's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) This is September and expanded rosters allow managers to do this kind of thing. Who was it that had 13 relievers in their pen recently? I can't remember who it was. The Indians... Chris Singleton said they had a football team in their bullpen. -

QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) And again, if Ozzie did it, people would be calling for his head. And rightfully so, you don't bring a guy in to face 1 hitter in the 4th inning -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Thats actually a good point. As of right now, there is no reason that everyone but Garland should be open for discussion, maybe even Garland if someone wanted to sell of the farm(Doubtful I know) Get the best package you can find, and see what ya got. It is a good point, I just hope someone is willing to overpay for Freddy. I would love to head into next season with Garland, MB, Count, Javy and BMac as the rotation. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Let's say Freddy pitches a perfect game/no hitter today and goes on to end the season strong though the Sox still do not make the playoffs. Do you suppose KW would retain him for next year? I hope KW wouldn't. It would increase Freddy's value exponentially however -

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) Can't watch the game today...I'd appreciate as many updates and observations as possible. I will say that this 7-8-9 in our lineup is terrible. Agreed. I'm sitting in class following the game on Yahoo and would appreciate updates as well. -
QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Aug 27, 2006 -> 10:52 AM) The concern isn't that the Sox are only 1.5 games back of the WC race; the concern is that they have been slipping further and further back since the ASB now, and aside from a few flashes of brilliance, have shown no signs of turning it around. Unless Minn. and Detriot completely fall apart, the Sox' current level of play will lead to some golf outings in early October. While it is true that the Sox have slipped since the ASB, I think it's foolish for anyone to count this team out yet. Win today and the gap for the WC is .5 games. Liriano is already on the DL and Radke may be headed there next. At that point, the Twins rotation looks imminently beatable. These losses have been frustrating on us all, but this season is still far from over. Now let's see the MB of old and the usual Carlos Silva tonight and get back in this thing.

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 24, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) rain delay? Are you kidding me, I hustled my ass to the library so I could catch the first half hour before my next class. Shenanigans I second this calling of shenanigans. This rain delay s*** will not stand

7/29/06 White Sox v. Orioles

QUOTE(wsox08 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 05:21 PM) The home runs hit by Jermaine Dye and A.J. Pierzunski in the top of the 4th inning were back-to-back shots. Thanks sportsline I hear good things about this Pierzunski. And back to the topic of commercials, but I love the Southwest commercial where the guy is locked out of his car. "Step back" then throwing the brick at the window cracks me up every time. Leadoff single for Tejada, pitch around it JG -

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) Something something something POSSIBILITIESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great play by Gload saving a run! And I hate the fact that I recognize any part of that commercial. I despise it with a passion. -

QUOTE(Reddy @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 04:50 PM) no i know what ya mean, i'd miss em if they werent there, they're a staple of a whitesox game, but still... they're effing terrible! Bob Rohrman has high production values when compared to some of the low budget crap in Champaign. Also of note, Hawk and DJ with some solid analysis today. 8-4. Exhibit A on why Garland needs to get ahead of hitters -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 04:43 PM) He might have had the worst instincts on the bases I've ever seen. Yeah, my memories of Jimenez were that he had a high talent level, but he was just a head case. Great inning for the Sox, have to love the adjustments they made at the plate, AJ, Uribe, BA and Gooch all going back up the middle or oppo, I love it. Hopefully this will carry over -
Watched the game tonight at a friend's place and just got home, but I wanted to chime in. First off, as has been said often here, Ross Gload is a professional hitter and has been instrumental in 2 of the wins since the break (including the Texas game with the sac bunts). It is unfortunate that he can't play a serviceable corner OF position becuase if he could, he would be a very valuable sub off the bench. The back of the bullpen is nasty right now. I can't remember any Sox team that had 3 guys at the back of the pen that throw as hard as Mike McD (really think that nickname could catch on), thornton and jenks. The pen looks very very solid. All in all, a nice win (especially when Bedard was on the hill), and hopefully this is the shot in the arm the team needs to get it going again.

QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 27, 2006 -> 01:59 PM) I am thinking Madden, but I am not sure about another football game. For all the PS2 games, do you have to have a memory card or something to save seasons? Yeah, you need a memory card. I usually go either or for Madden and NCAA rather than both. Even though it isn't one of the sports you listed, the Tiger Woods golf series is awesome for PS2, especially for in the dorms

Remember in the 4th inning when it was a 3-3 game and Kyle Lohse was up in the bullpen? Those were good times.
-
The difference between these teams bats right now is the approach at the plate. Twins hitters are going up there with a plan, spraying hits, not trying to do too much, and when the pitcher makes a mistake, their power hitters crush the ball. Our approach is to swing for the fences... beyond that, I'm not sure what the approach it. But I don't want to pile on the offense here because the sox would be i a LOT of trouble without their first half. It's time for the pitching to sack up and get the ship righted.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:35 PM) Could you please post the score? And be more specific as to what just happened? I don't have the game available right now. 5-3. Morneau crushed a 2 run bomb Cintron lined out to right, Thome hit one to the warning track in CF, PK up with 2 outs

QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Buehrle nothing more than a Batting Practice pitcher right now-he should be DL'd-something HAS to be wrong Yeah, problems like MB is having now do not happen overnight. I am baffled Well, there was a line drive at least, but right at the RF. 1 out.
-
Very nice play by Castillo. Pods gets thrown out on those more than any fast guy I have ever seen Good inning there guys. Chase Silva next inning then enjoy Kyle Lohse out of the bullpen for a couple innings and avoid this sweep!!

Kyle Lohse warming up in the bullpen... I like

And there's a nice piece of hitting by AJ. Good adjustments this time through by PK, JD and AJ

QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:12 PM) LMAO. Looks like I picked a bad day to stop drinking. Hey, do you like movies about gladiators? Have you ever been in a Turkish prison? Attaway JD 3-2
