  1. Pablo is a .286 career hitter vs. Santana. 2/3 this year. Here's hoping the top of the order can scratch a couple runs across tonight. GO GO WHITE SOX!!!!
  2. QUOTE(klaus kinski @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) The best lead off man in history, Rickey Henderson, hit many lead off homers Rickey Henderson took a spiff load of walks as well though. Bad comparison to the free swinging Soriano

    Summer Vacays

Vegas next week after my summer finals are done. Drinking, gambling, and some more of each.
  4. QUOTE(SnB @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) now this new development just keeps pissing me off more. It just seems like ozzie cares more about settling personal grudges right now instead of winning ballgames. Can you imagine if we didn't win last year? He'd be as good as gone. I really do think upper management is having major problems with him as of late. Agreed, I can't imagine that he would still be around after some of the blow ups this year. Stuff with the media I can write off as Ozzie being Ozzie, but during the middle of your biggest slump of the season, against WC competition, you have to put your best damn players on the field!
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 03:46 AM) I've got it bookmarked and check it every day. BTW, question for illinilaw since he's a Chelsea fan...how bad was Kezman when he was with the Blues? I see how that post gave you the wrong impression... I was merely showing my contempt with people who decide to support Chelsea now. I'm a Newcastle supporter... unfortunately.
  6. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 07:40 PM) Laz Diaz is not a good umpire. Outside = strike a little bit high = ball I don't like how deliberate he is with his strike call. It bothers me for some reason. Javy needs to make a couple good pitches here, I would rather not see Mauer with the bases loaded.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) More specifically I think it would mean that we'd be moving Pods somewhere else who I do think has value. I just don't know what the club would look for. Young arms to restock the farm system? Or a real 4th OF that can play a solid defensive CF to give Anderson days off? Thats the only thing I could see. Furthermore, I have a 12 page take-home final due Thursday and was being quite productive today until the Soriano stuff started to break. For the sake of my grade, something needs to get done soon!
  8. QUOTE(soxpride77 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) But who do we flip him for? Soriano is an A+ player, I don't know who we would get that is better than or equal to him. Is it possible we could flip him for Ervin Santana? But of course in that scenario, who goes to the bullpen? I dont know, I'm just throwing this out there.
  9. QUOTE(minors @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 07:10 PM) My whole argument is the founding fathers believed in execution it was around when they wrote the amendment and it stayed around after it was written. Execution in there eyes was not against the amendment. And besides how can a leftist claim the constitution must be honored in every way but yet when it goes against there stance it becomes "Societal value change" and can be discounted, you can't have it both ways either we respect what the founders stood for completely or not stand with it at all. Well, as has already been stated, societal values do change, and the Constitution is amended to portray that. As there hasnt been any amendment on the issue of capital punishment, the current interpretation of "cruel and unusual" is based on the current interpretation of that aspect of the document. However, that is not the point of my post. In principal, I have nothing against capital punishment, some crimes are so horrific that the perpetrator deserves to die... BUT I can't reconcile that belief with the knowledge that an innocent person would be put to death in their place. The problem is systematic, often the defendants in these cases are poor and cannot afford adequate representation, so they receive state appointed counsel. Well, the public defenders in this country are already overrun with cases, and they arent always the most effective form of representation because they are often working several cases at the same time. I'm sorry but I would rather see hundreds of violent criminals serve in prison until they die than see 1 innocent person wrongfully put to death.
  10. Landis deserves major props for that win. He could have easily packed it in after that disastrous mountian stage, but then he turns it around and wins the whole damn thing
  11. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 05:55 PM) Honestly i don't know how anybody can not choose chelsea! They are stacked with talent and they won it last yr. Damn bandwagon jumpers. It's very easy to be a Chelsea fan right now, it is LOTS more difficult to be a Newcastle fan. On another note, Newscatle acquired Damien Duff from Chelsea. Solid move IMO.
  12. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) Definitely. The manager who led the team to its first World Series title since 1917 should get removed for yelling at a pitcher who can't complete a simple order. Yeah, yell at your pitcher as he's throwing a 1 hit shut out through 4 innings because he tried and failed to hit a batter. Ozzie should know better than to show up his own players like that... again
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) You won't see a manager berate a player in the dugout more than that. At least Ozzie cares more about winning than getting revenge. No kidding. Ozzie should be congratulating JG for getting Young to hit into a DP rather than being pissed because he missed Kinsler twice. What a joke
  14. That gets the job done. Sox score a run without hitting the ball out of the IF. I love it. Now keep it going Gooch
  15. THE SOX GOT A BUNT DOWN!!!!! And Gload was safe
  16. Cintron hit, time for a little small ball.
  17. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) what happened? i\'m at work? dive by pods? Yeah, diving catch on a little flare to left center
  18. Alright let's get some late inning magic here. GO GO WHITE SOX!!!
  19. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 08:24 PM) Javy doesn't know how to step it up under tight situations. I don't care if his stuff is 'good' or not. He cant cut the mustard. Get him out of here now. Alright, I'm pissed at the way Javy has performed this half of the season as well, but remember that Count was having these same types of problems last year at the All-Star break. Rome wasn't built in a day so hoprfully Javy still has time this year to fix his mechanical problems in bad spots (I watched the local feed, but it sounds like he does have fixable mechanical problems). Hopefully Javy turns into a dependable member of the rotation at some point this season (assuming he isnt traded)
  20. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Part of it has to do with Pierzynski calling for the wrong pitches at the wrong time. I dont think AJ put down the signal for "hanging slider" on 1-2.
  21. Wow, Hawk "Did Uribe cost the Sox a run that inning by not turning 2?" And Javy hangs another one to end the inning.
  22. Wow, thats all I can say about that play This is why KW needs to find another OF at the deadline is so Mack can be a backup corner OF and backup IF because you know Ozzie isnt playing BA everyday
