  1. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 08:22 PM) Also friday for me is an institute day. NO SCHOOL! One of my classes is only a half semester and the final is naturally Friday during the game. Dont think I can rationalize blowing that off, as tempting as it would be to do so.
  2. Agree completely. While all the teams have definite holes, BOS and NYY both have serious pitching deficiencies and as long as BOS wins one of the first 2 games, those teams will just continue burning their arms. Both teams have lineups that scare me, but great pitching beats great hitting.
  3. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) my sentiments exactly Yeah, the last couple of innings have been way too quick and easy for Grilli
  4. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Dude, we have class every day. The Sox clinch a division what, once every five years if we're lucky? I'm still going to be watching it, and will probably disturb class with a victory cheer if the Sox hold on to win
  5. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 12:01 PM) Classes are overrated anyways. Sox take priority I'm going to have the game going on my laptop during my 130 class. Here's hoping I dont get called on at any point. On a game related note, Freddy looks very good today
  6. QUOTE(infohawk @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 11:48 AM) Aaron is really struggling to get any elevation lately. He must be rolling over on the ball. We've got to get him going!!! Yeah, outside of the homerun last night Aaron has really been beating everything into the ground
  7. Maybe the demotion in the lineup was all Carl needed. Very nice to see him hitting the ball hard the last two days.
  8. Not sure if this has been said already, but I like the idea of Dye hitting 3rd way better than AJ or Rowand
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 11:37 AM) You probably get a lot of funny looks, considering you're a U of I student. Just messing with ya. Haha. All joking aside though, the worst thing about U of I is that there is no good place to watch Sox games. Too many damn Cardinals and Cubs fans in Central Illinois.
  10. Just turned the game on. Great start. I'm sitting in the law school library with mlbtv going and have gotten some funny looks already. GO SOX
  11. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:26 AM) Haven't the Angels already said that PK will be their number one target in the offseason? We're going to outbid Anaheim? No, we're not. PK will get more money than he's worth, a lot more. And that will mean that we'll have to get a 1B (or possibly 3B) through a trade. That's fine by me. I've been saying that Konerko has had his foot out the door ever since he took a completely selfish approach at the plate the first three months of the season. The guy was and still is looking for a big payday, and I don't mean the candy bar, though that wouldn't surprise me either since he's a fat piece of crap. I for one dont care if the Sox have to overpay for PK. He has been the Sox only good hitter in the second half of the season and the FA market is weak at the 1B position. Without PK next year, I dont care how good the pitching and defense is, this team wont be going anywhere
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) The funny thing is that I saw more of an adjustment by Borchard in one AB than I've seen by some of the Sox hitters in a month. Exactly. Right now Borchard should get all Everett's ABs, and i have never been a Borchard fan
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Carl Everett is not bigger than this team. I don't understand the philosophy that a lot of people have that this team needs Carl Everett. There's one integral part of our offense, and it's Paul Konerko. I contend that when Carl is going well he is integral to this team. When Everett is hitting, he is the best option in the three hole this team has. While I think that right now he is no better than several other options, if Ozzie is going to play Everett everyday in the playoffs, the Sox need him to hit
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) Things Carl Everett doesn't believe in: - dinosaurs - homosexuals - demotions - line drives Hahaha! Seriously, Anderson/ Borchard vs. righties, Gload vs. lefties. Give Carl a few days off to try and get him back on track
  15. The lineup I like against righties now would have Gload at 1B and PK DHing. Gload is another lefthanded bat in the lineup, plays the field well, and can give PK a day or two off in the field. Thoughts?
  16. QUOTE(DonkeyKongerko @ Sep 26, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) You gotta love that Everett has been hit twice tonight. It's good for us for so many different reasons. Both times he has been hit I've thought of Major League 2. "Everett gets hit! And the White Sox catch a break!" That's right, Everett = Roger Dorn
  17. Last WCIU game of the year right? I hate being in Champaign for these games
  18. QUOTE(Wanne @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 12:02 PM) I know this was probably hashed and rehashed....and second guessing has become second nature...but I just sat there all night wondering why. I was wondering the same thing last night. Dye can be made to pop out far too easily (fastball in on the hands) for him to be up in that situation, especially with all the outfielders on the roster now.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 12:06 PM) That's the big question. If this team does fall apart and doesn't make the playoffs how many people could you keep around? Could you keep Ozzie and KW, or would the damage be too great? In my opinion, should the worst happen and this team not make the playoffs, even as a wild card, Ozzie Guillen will be done as manager. I cannot find too much fault with KW. He took a big gamble in the Pods trade and it paid off until Scotty got hurt, and as far as the lack of a deal at the deadline, it just was not a buyers market at all. Not a lot of fault with KW, too much of the blame goes to Ozzie for him to be the manager next year.
  20. The Sox need to offer Crede arbitration. There is no way that anyone inside the system is ready yet. Joe Crede needs to be a part of the team next year in my humble opinion.
  21. The problem is Cubs fans who dont know s*** about baseball. There are inteligent ones out there
  22. I honestly believe that AJ is the heart and soul of this team. He's a guy that gets excited when we win and pissed off when we lose. As many have indicated in this thread already, he is a fan favorite because he is as passionate about this team as any of the fans. I hated him when he was a Twin, but I love him as a member of the White Sox. He is the toughness and emotion that this team has been missing for years. As far as him stepping on Boone, I don't care if it was intentional or not. The important thing is that he scored the run. And the picture is definitely my background right now.
  23. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 09:34 PM) I still agree with taking him out. If Dye had singled or AJ gapped one the game woulda been over Agree. Had to pinch run for PK there
  24. I just wish this team could get an easy win. I'm not sure my heart (or my GPA) can handle many more games like this.
  25. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Sep 20, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) gonna be jenks they showed a shot of the pen on TV. marte was not in the picture. this will be the third straight day for Jenks to pitch and fourth in five days. cleve a tremendous fastball hitting team and gas is Jenks weapon until he throws the hammer for his strikeout pitch. i say jenks because the other two options are very shaky Playoff atmosphere, let's see if Jenksy can handle it. We need 3 big outs right here!
