  1. People will complain about anything. Who cares about the two minor league pitchers - We didn't have to give up B-Mac to land Thome
  2. I would think it will be Marte and a low level prospect for Pierre His arm is suspect, but him and Pods will control the gaps
  3. Good deal I think this is fair for both sides. I am going to miss Rowand and he is going to be a great player. I do not believe anyone can judge this trade or any trade this early. Look at the Lee deal and now tell me how it turned out. For all of you that are complaining of the trade please give it time and I for one appreciate everything Rowand has done for the organization and the city of Chicago. I trust KW and he is doing what is best for the team. He has a player that can flat out hit and I would believe that Thome has a chip on his shoulder. He was pushed out of Philli for Howard and with all the injury talk he has a lot to prove. I will be buying my Thome jersey soon. As I posted in another topic I believe Pierre is next.
  4. Why move Cotts from the pen? Why screw with a good thing? He tried starting at one point and it didn't go so well. I love Neal coming out of the pen and if the club does trade Marte the value of Cotts goes through the roof. Try again
  5. Hernandez took the pen spot because it was the playoffs. I do not expect him to take the same position during the regular season. You do not trade Hernandez unless you are forced to trade Hernandez. The White Sox as of now are not forced to trade him. If you do trade him and B-Mac is our fifth starter who is our insurance policy? Cabrara was a very good third baseman before he was moved because of Mike L. You could see him moved back to third, but that is not a sure bet. He has been so great in the outfield that some say "Why mess with a good thing?"
  6. I think B-Mac strats in AAA and waits for an injury. The amount of innings that out starters pitched indicate that the odds of an injury to one of them is great. I think that Hernandez has to start during the regular season. He has earned it and he is an above average fifth starter. He will get hurt at some point and B-Mac will be waiting
  7. I agree Rowand44. By trading Rowand to the Phillies for Thome OR By trading Crede to the Marlins for Pierre You will not lose one of our big pitchers. You could see some minor league talent in the deals but not B-Mac. I also believe Marte has seen his last days in Chicago, but that is just me. I believe KW will try to make deals without involving our pitchers. Pitching won us the ring.
  8. I was not saying Mueller > Crede. Because of Scott Boras and arbitration I would not be surprised to see Crede moved. Mueller can fill in until Josh Fields is ready. Mueller may not be as good as Crede, but he is an ok replacement. He is a veteran with playoff experience and can still throw some leather. People forget that during the regular season Crede was one of the most frustrating players to watch. One night he would look like a stud and the next he looked like he didn't belong. My biggest fear is that Crede goes to another team and becomes a superstar, but with his agent Joe will leave sooner rather than later.
  9. I find it interesting that the Bill Mueller rumors have surfaced. If the Sox do trade their center fielder of today and tomorrow to the Phillies for Thome it would open up a space for Pierre. Florida has a big hole at third base now and I do not believe they would move Cabrera to third. With Crede being arbitration eligible and a Scott Boras client maybe the Sox would move him to Florida. The Marlins would be able to afford him and Joe is turning into a big time player. I know many here love Crede like I do, but I do not see Mueller signing here to be a back up. I would hope that we would also get a minor league player along with Pierre due to that fact that Crede is worth more now that he ever has. I am not saying I am for/against this, but it does make sense in a way. We will just have to wait and see. 1. Pods 2. Pierre 3. Konerko 4. Thome 5. Dye 6. A.J. 7. Iggy 8. Mueller 9. Uribe
  10. This would be huge. 1. I just do not believe Frank is coming back. Kenny has always been looking for a way to get rid of him. Now with the buy out and his health Kenny can do so and not look like a jerk. I have always loved Frank and I am happy he is getting his ring, but Kenny and I believe Ozzie doesn't just do not want him back. 2. I would think that a deal for Thome would get done quickly. His health is an issue, but Kenny has taken that chance before (Dye, Hernandez, Wells, Loaiza, ...). He would be the new super star in Chicago and I for one would buy a Thome jersey real quick. Everything I have read on the guy suggests he is a grinder. He comes to play everyday, he is great for fan relations, and he gets involved in the community. He would be a dream come true for Brooks. 3. Thome would be a killer at Comiskey (I will never call it the Cell). The home runs would land in the bar on a daily basis. Paul Konerko and Thome can exist together as well. I would think Thome would be a huge determining factor for Konerko to resign with the club. Who protected Konerko in the line up last year? Konerko would love to have that kind of protection, because he would see a lot of fastballs. Even if Ozzie decided to keep Konerko four and have Thome bat third Konerko is still better off. 4. Mr. Reinsdorf has the money and will spend it. The Griffey non-deal proves that. If Kenny can land a big named guy like he almost did Mr. Reinsdorf will "show him the money". I have learned to trust Kenny Williams over the years and who ever he lands by trade or fee agency (It may be good or bad in my opinion) I will live with it especially if it gets us another Championship.
  11. Bernie Mac sat across from me during game one and he is a nice guy. He had his Sox stuff on and he was really getting into the game. He did leave by the 5th inning to go upstairs for interviews.
  12. No - I am in section 136 towards the Sox on deck circle. I was shifted down one section this year because of the scout seats. They were offered to me, but I dont believe they are worth the money compared to where I am sitting. I am just as close as the scout seats, but I do not get the free food, lounge, or parking. I pay around 30 bucks a seat and have my red parking pass. Thats all I need.
  13. These scouts were in the first two rows above the "Scout Seats". 2 of the 6 were active the whole game. I would believe they were scouting the two teams for upcoming series. The other four only seemed interested when Contreras was pitching. Then Jenks got everyones attention. I know there are scouts at every game. Scouts could be there for trades, upcoming games, or even evaluations. I find it funny that the majority just seemed interested in Contreras. I have been a long time season ticket holder and it was just odd to see how the scouts worked that night.
  14. I didnt say the Sox were in, but I trust Ozzie and he has proved that you have to keep the bench fresh. In order to keep the "Chemistry" Carl needs his abs. I can not see Carl sitting for a week so Pods can play everyday. If you ask Dye to sit down most of the time you are taking away our best outfield arm. Rowand is a good defensive player and he as well needs his abs. To keep people happy and fresh you have to keep the outfield rotation for now. I hate it when Pods isnt playing, but it has worked so far.
  15. I dont mind the outfield rotation and Widger playing now, but closer to the plaoffs Pods and A.J. better be in there against lefties. They have to see lefty pitching sooner or later and lets hope it is before the playoffs
  16. I was at the game last night and there were six scouts there for Contreras. It was odd to see Jerry Krasue there representing the Mets. Usually in past seasons around July 31 I would see two or three scouts so it is hard for me to believe that a trade isnt on the horizon with all of the scouts at the game. It was funny to see them react to Jenks. He had three guns on his first pitch. After that all the scouts were on him.
