  1. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) The only value I see Cabrera has to the O's is the draft picks at the end of the season. The way I understood it, we would send the Dodgers Cabrera, the Dodgers would send over prospects to the O's, and we would get back Roberts(and probably send over a prospect of our own). That would seem the most logical: Sox get Roberts Dodgers get Cabrera Orioles get two prospects from both the White Sox and Dodgers I wouldn't mind the Dodgers throwing in Chan Ho Park in that deal as well. A decent long reliever that can also spot start if someone goes down & has proven to pitch well in that role. It would be the Sox version of Chad Gaudin. Have no idea what his contract is though.
  2. I agreed with DJ on that whole argument. DJ seems to have gotten some balls knowing he's gonna be out the door after this year.
  3. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 27, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) every time Jim Edmonds does bad, he is injured. Every time he does good, he is completely fine. It's called the "loser's limp", kinda like when a cb gets burned for a long touchdown and starts grabbing his hammy afterwards. I don't think it applies to Edmonds in this case, he's been pretty damn good in a Cubs uniform.
  4. QUOTE (rowandrules83 @ May 29, 2008 -> 11:36 PM) Just curious, have you actually been to Tropicana Field? I went there for last month's series, and I didn't feel it was nearly as crappy as I had been led to believe. It was a very friendly, comfortable environment. Good deals on tickets as well as drinks/food, and the ushers pretty much let you sit wherever you want. I couldn't figure out why attendance isn't higher. I do agree that the new ballpark by the waterfront, combined with their young core of talent, will likely draw many more people. Non-retractable domes just suck in general. It seems like it makes football and baseball games less exciting. Interesting tidbit about Tropicana field I never knew: "Built in 1990, Tropicana Field became the home of the expansion Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1998 after a long fight to bring Major League Baseball to the Tampa-St. Petersburg area. The domed stadium, originally known as "The Suncoast Dome" and "The ThunderDome", was constructed to lure an existing baseball club to Florida's Gulf Coast and several teams nearly took the bait. The Chicago White Sox were about to move before an 11th-hour deal produced a new Comiskey Park."
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 28, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) they were bummed out - especially rick manning. i like listening to him but he's too convinced that the tribe is going to break out of this funk any old day now. Kinda like Hawk last year.
  6. QUOTE (rangercal @ May 28, 2008 -> 02:10 PM) that I guess Ozzie is afraid of a walk. Intentinally walk him
  7. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 28, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) E5 another game changing Crede error!? Nice play in the 8th though.
  8. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 26, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) At the time I was thinking " hmmm kind of a short stint for your long man" since the game was in extra innings and you never know how long a game can go. But you can't really consider it bad managing when everything worked out for the best. How do you know if he had left Masset in Cleveland wouldn't have scored off of him ? Bullpen pitched 6 innings and gave up zip. Can't complain about that at all. Even Steve Stone was extremely puzzled by that move and I would take Stone's logic over Ozzie's any day of the week. With two anemic offenses the Sox could have ran out of pitchers in a hurry. Luckily it worked. FWIW, Linebrink has been ansolutely filthy, hitters weren't even close to his stuff today. Seems like he hit a new gear in the last two weeks.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ May 26, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) Wow, extra innings and the only people left in the pen are Wass and Jenks. Horrible move by Ozzie there, if he didn't plan on Masset pitching a few innings, he shouldn't have brought him in. Exactly. How miserable both offenses are this could last awhile.
  10. QUOTE (G&T @ May 26, 2008 -> 08:20 PM) Oh god. Logan? Please no. Another Ozzie move I just don't get.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ May 5, 2008 -> 08:16 PM) I basically have been doing that. The last week, I have been streaming FA pitchers in fantasy going up against the Sox. Worked like charm so far... Thanks for making me money Sox... I used to do that with the Giants, maybe the Sox will be my new team.
  12. QUOTE (Cowch @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 03:14 PM) Yeah I don't know what made him think it was a good idea. Oh well, Why can we only rally with 2 outs today? Isn't Alexei the guy Hawk raves about his baseball IQ? But then again this is the same guy who got boners from Darin Erstad. Nice dp though.
  13. I came on here just to say what the hell was that? Pitcher can't find the zone and swings at the 1st pitch, pathetic!!
  14. Hawk is an idiot. Cabrera has to get out of the way. Isn't that run down basics? Throw the ball, then get out of the way and then go to the other side.
  15. If anyone was listening to the score after the game, they had an interview with Cooper about the whole scenario. He said he thought of the idea of bringing in Jenks in and doing it in front of the home crowd and then called Jenks. And without any hesitatation Jenks gave an enthusiastic yes. When Cooper brought the idea to Ozzie, Ozzie shook his head and said no. Then Coop told Ozzie that you're going to have to call Jenks yourself and tell him that. Ozzie called and Jenks must've persuaded him into putting him in. So no, there should be NO props to Ozzie on that.
  16. QUOTE(BFirebird @ Aug 5, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) After seeing their Post All-Star slide, problems with their offense, starting pitching struggling a bit and bullpen problems does anyone else think the Tigers look like the Sox of last year. Both teams started off hot with the bats and cooled down during the season and although I haven't compared records between the two teams they seem to have similar problems. Am I crazy or could these Tigers be like the Sox of last year and now either Minnesota or Cleveland will win the division? Thinking the exact same thing the other day! Same with the poster that said the 06' Tigers=05' Sox.(minus World Series). 06' Tigers relied on great starting starting pitching to win games, and scored barely enough runs to wins just like the 05' team. Also they had a great bullpen similiar to the 05' Sox. Then last off-season they decide to get the big bat and acquire Sheffield to get more run support. Sound familiar? Like the Sox did when they got Thome? Now the 07 Tigers score a ton of runs, have inconsistent pitching, and a horrid bullpen that craps in their pants whenever runners are on. Sounds like a mirror image of the 06' Sox. The similiarities are endless.
  17. Quick question- Did Dye start wearing the high black socks just after the trade deadline?
  18. Following the game on Yahoo. What happened in the Uribe play? Was it bad judgement or was it a good play/recovery?
  19. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) No Way! We will see my friend. Well they just lost the series, another $200 down the drain.
  20. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 23, 2007 -> 02:22 PM) when does Blackhawk Training Camp open so I can watch Patrick Kane Hawks should've took Turris. He WILL be the better player in 3 years.
  21. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 18, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) I love it when Hawk jerks off an umpire when they give us the close bang bang play. Then I love it when Hawk about a half inning later, starts screaming about teacups and how they got jobbed on a similiar play that goes the other way. Santo with legs, thats our Hawk. Ahh you beat me too it. Ramirez safe by a mile and Hawk says the ump is one of the best in the game while watching the replay. Then DJ starts chuckling to himself.
  22. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 16, 2007 -> 12:14 PM) Are they that big? Wow. I didn't realize there would be a dog twice the size of a shepard. Then again, I know almost nothing about dogs.
  23. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 01:57 PM) RIP, I'd hate to die at 99, if I'm going to live that long, why can't I just make it to the centura mark. My dad was actually Berres doctor for the last 20 years and you would think he was a cripple for the last ten years, but that was not the case. He was in great shape mentally and physically and lived by himself until this last year and a half when he was finally placed in a nursing home. At the age of 96 he still drove by HIMSELF from his home in Twin Lakes, WI to my dad's office in Kenosha!! ( About a 30 minute drive and he did it every couple months!! ) When the Sox went to the World Series he tried as hard as he could to get me tickets and I will always be grateful for that. Its a shame he didn't get press here in the local newspaper(The Kenosha News). When the Sox were going to the World Series, I even sent a letter to the editor to interview Berres, a guy from Kenosha who was a legendary pitching of the Sox the last time they went to the World Series. I got zero response. And I can tell you directly from him that he was estatic about the 2005 World Series. Nice story about Berres here: http://www.journaltimes.com/articles/2005/.../iq_3722225.txt You lived a long and good life. RIP Ray
