QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:33 PM) Is he going to be ready for the 1st round, and if there is a chance, do you place him on the roster? I'm guessing no, he won't be ready and not on the roster.

QUOTE (DABearSoX @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 08:48 AM) Buchanan is voting Obama.....did you see him spooge over his speech last night? It was hilarious That may be a requirement for MSNBC employees.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 08:26 AM) It's Palin, according to Fox. You have to wonder if this move was made with the focus on getting Hillary's voters to vote for McCain. Clearly, this was the biggest motive for the pick. It also helps that she's a staunch Republican who has a lot of similar qualities to McCain in regards to wasteful spending, reform.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 07:52 AM) PS: If it's Palin... now THAT is inexperience. She's only been in office for 2 years (Obama has 12+ years in state and national service). That moots McCain's "Obama's not ready" argument. Obama could throw it right back at him. I don't think he will because Obama still remains inexperienced.

Why not give Broadway another start? -
I hate that we can't watch these Chicago TBS games because of the blackouts.

I think Broadway may have been sent back down.

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 7, 2008 -> 10:22 AM) A month ago I would have thought slim to none with slim on the first flight out of town. But now, he seems he has earned some playing time back, plays the best defense of anyone on the team, and most importantly has not caused a distraction with his benching. With the market tight for MI and OC as good as gone, what are the chances Uribe is brought back as at least the utility player that Ozuna was meant to be this season, and maybe as the starting 2B? He has one of the worst offensive approaches in the game, but pitching and defense contributes just as much to winning as hitting does. I am going to add the disclaimer that is not my preference that Uribe returns as the starter, but Beckham may not be that far away depending on when (if) he signs, and signing another MI long term may not be cost effective. Considering that Alexi Ramirez is the only IF (outside of 1B) who we know will be starting next season, and with Joe Crede & Orlando Cabrera's return both in serious doubt, I think there's a solid possibility of Uribe returning at one of the IF spots, almost similar to this season where he's either a utility player or a stop gap starter.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Aug 3, 2008 -> 02:59 PM) The sox play 16 of their next 19 at home. the Twins go on the road. thoughts? If we don't pitch better, it won't matter where we play at.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 07:31 AM) Griffey doesnt play CF anymore, and hasnt for a few years. He is a corner OF'er/DH. That's true, but I don't think they traded for him to be a late inning pinch hitter. He's got to play CF if he's going to play down the stretch.
-
Griffey will play in CF, Swisher at 1B, and Thome DHing. Konerko will be on the bench. Saying that, the White Sox aren't about to run Griffey into the ground so he'll get 1-2 days off a week in CF. When that happens, Swisher will be back out there, and Konerko will get time at 1B. Same goes for Thome - he's been hitting better, but when he does have a tough matchup, Guillen will probably rest him, and insert either Griffey or Konerko into the DH spot. My biggest concern is OF defense - it isn't very good, and about the only thing we can do is get Anderson out there in late innings even moreso.

QUOTE (beck72 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 04:32 AM) Seems the sox are making a last pitch for Street, though it would have to be a 3 way deal. With the questions surrounding Street, I'd say he'd come cheaper than we first thought. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...-ssep31.article If he's coming cheaper than we first thought, yet the White Sox still can't get him, what does that say about our minor league system? Street scares me some - I've heard a lot of the baseball "experts" speak on him, and most aren't really convinced with the questions on him.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 04:12 PM) Theo Epstein has said he will deal Manny Ramirez if Manny would waive his 10 and 5 rights. Manny has since said he will waive his no trade rights should the Red Sox work out a trade. With Ortiz just coming back and still a bit of a risk because of the injured wrist, might the Red Sox be interested in a package built around Konerko? Possibly something involving Poreda and Getz? I know Manny has quite a bit more value than Paulie right now, but considering Manny's $20 million options in 09' and 10' may need to be picked up in order to make a trade work, as well as Boston's desire to really rid themselves of him this time, I think his value comes down a bit. Swish could then move to 1b, Quentin could move to center, with Manny taking over in left. Would that OF defense be decent enough for this to be a positive impact? Would Manny's antics scare Kenny and Ozzie away? Would the Red Sox trade him within the American League? Would this lineup scare the s*** out of other teams? 1) OC 2) AJ 3) Manny 4) Q 5) Thome 6) Dye 7) Swisher 8) Alexei 9) Crede/Uribe/whomever Thoughts? Sorry, bored on a Sunday after a loss... No offense, but the White Sox have a better chance of signing me than trading for Ramirez.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 03:20 PM) Floyd + Fields for Halladay... I think both sides would be happy with that one. The Jays get two guys who contribute immediately to the big club with pretty decent ceilings, the White Sox get a SP who cements them as World Series contenders. I actually would really like this. Toronto wouldn't be.
-
QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) I assume you meant Roy Halladay. $10 million in 2008, $14.25 million in 2009 and $15.75 million in 2010. Halladay isn't going anywhere.... From J.Stark's column: Interestingly, other clubs that have spoken with the Blue Jays say they'll talk about anybody. But when the conversation turns to, say, Roy Halladay, the conversation ends fast. "He likes it here," Ricciardi says. "He wants to win here. And he's signed for two more years. So if we trade him, we'd be giving up on the chance that we're going to be a good club in the next two years. And we don't feel that way."

QUOTE (Go_Go_Sox79 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) Since this being reported by Joe Cowley I think it is safe to ignore this rumor...I don't think he has a clue! All he did was throw more speculation in the ring. There doesn't appear to be any substance.

What pitcher are we going to trade for? I'd rather gamble with a young guy than go after what's left on the market, especially if it's going to cost Fields.

Sox Option Russell, Call Up Clayton Richard

QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 09:10 PM) The Twins entire rotation is made up of minor league pitchers. Interesting. You could say that all rotations are made up of minor league starters by that logic, but, in reality, Minnesota's "minor league pitchers" are doing quite well by major league standards. -

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 08:29 PM) The same Texas team that just scored a whopping 3 total runs in the last 3 games? They clearly hit much better in Texas, but I still like them against a minor league pitcher. -

What's is Street's contract status? What about Brian Fuentes?

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 6, 2008 -> 08:53 PM) The opportunity to trade for Cabrera and sign Ramirez didn't come about until after the 4.5 mil option pick up. The team could have gone into Spring Training with Pablo Ozuna as its shortstop if Ramirez signed elsewhere (and he was unproven) and Garland hadn't been dealt. It was kind of important at the time. I realize that they would have been left without a starting SS, but Uribe is not a starting SS anymore either, and the off-season was early enough for Kenny to find a replacement who could have least been an equal to Uribe, but for less money.
