  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) Wasn't he #31 with the Sox? Oh yeah....then #33 Canseco would have really looked stupid.
  2. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:33 PM) If I was going to get a player's jersey, it would be Fisk, Thomas, Ventura, Aparicio .... Guys that reflect the history of the Sox. Current players come and go to quickly. But, this is just my personal way of looking at things. This is actually true. Certain players are classic, and timeless. I have a Fisk jersey but I know it will always look good. Can't say that for a lot of other guys where you can't be sure how long they are staying or if you will always like them. But hey, to each his own. It's your money and if you want to buy #44 Koch, who am I to question you?
  3. Oh yeah..and #33 Canseco. LOL Way to go!!
  4. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Do you play for the team? #69 Smith means nothing to me. Congrats, you have a favorite number, and a last name. Well, #30 Ordonez means even less now. At least your name and favorite # will always remain!
  5. Get a Sox jersey with your own last name or just a # you like. I'm not big on getting current players because once they leave, which most inevitably do, now you have an outdated jersey. Unless you don't mind that.
  6. GMAFB. The only curse is the curse of having to listen to Chris Berman.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Props to the Cubs for doing that. Yeah I tend to agree. I mean, after Sox fans celebrated lavishly following the '03 Bartman debacle, they could very easily have a "go f*** yourself" attitude!
  8. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Sep 10, 2005 -> 03:54 PM) Did anyone else find reading this thread painful? Well the first post was ok but it went to hell quite quickly after that!
  9. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Isn't baseball weird? Two years ago I despised this guy as much as any player in the league. Stick a Sox jersey on him and I'm one of his biggest fans. What if Saddam wore a Thomas jersey to his first day of trial? That's because (as Jerry Seinfeld once said) we "root for laundry".
  10. No. Just turning 16 doesn't entitle anyone to s***. I agree that it's up to the parents to make the decision, but I think it has to be based on how deserving the kid is, or on necessity (kid will drive younger siblings to school, etc). But not on age alone; that's just silly.
  11. It used to be...."You bet your sweet ASS-percreme!"..until they changed the lyrics. Guess too many people were offended by it. I thought it was pretty damn funny.
  12. You can get all the information you need off the internet. Also, if you're buying new, ask them to show you the invoice price. I kept telling them I wanted to go to at least 1 other dealer and they just wouldn't let me go. Kept lowering the price. I eventually got them at $300 below invoice then I chimed in that I had $700 in GM points (they just LOVED that) LOL (Oh, plus my $4000 (?) cash back)....I think I got a really good deal
  13. Hey, thanks for not being a jagbag And I love talking baseball with anyone intelligent. Now unfortunately for you that does automatically eliminate far too many of your fellow Cubs fans but you are the exception that proves the rule.
  14. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:08 PM) big wheels! good call i had one almost exactly like this I had one that was black and green....it was awesome. I tell ya, kids today are missing out!
  15. That's easy... 1) Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots 2) Sit-N-Spin (damn, I loved getting dizzy at a young age!) 3) Big Wheels....those were the coolest things to ride and I swear if they brought them back they would SELL!! Bring them back!!
  16. QUOTE(Da Sox @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:31 AM) you think New York will steal the gong idea from us? Of course not. No one ever steals anything from Chicago.
  17. I've often heard the phrase, "It's better to be lucky than good", which is probably true but thankfully for us, we're both!
  18. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) That's exactly it. I want to believe they'll win it all, but then I remember how many times they've let me down. This is how I will feel until they record the last out in the World Series and finally bring a baseball championship back to the South Side of Chicago. The thing is, usually when you say things like this, people point out to you that you aren't enjoying the season. Quite the contrary--I am enjoying the season but I also realize that the playoffs are a whole 'nother season and everyone basically goes back to 0-0. That's when anything can happen. Hopefully, it's finally our turn this year. Wouldn't a 2005 World Champions banner look sweet hanging at USCF?
  19. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 10:05 AM) You mean Leather Tuscadaro, right? Pinky was better!
  20. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Aug 7, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) I want to dedicate this thread to Jeff Brantley who said before the season we would win 72 games and what ya know he was right. Maybe someone should e-mail that statement to him.
  21. As a band, definitely Heart. Solo artist, Pat Benatar.
  22. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 4, 2005 -> 09:52 AM) My wife LOVES Hall & Oates, and was actually SERIOUSLY considering paying the 55 to 65 bucks to see them at Skyline Stage next Monday. ...that is about 50 to 60 bucks more than they should charge... Are you SERIOUS? I'm surprised they aren't playing summerfests in the sw suburbs for $5 a pop!
  23. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 11:47 PM) although they both grew vaginas during the 80s sellout megahit days LMAO...now that is some funny s***!
  24. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 6, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) All credit goes to Clement in returning to the mound that quickly. He was resilient. He was feisty. He was double-tough. But he did not "look great" giving up 6 runs and 4 walks in 5 innings. Grampa McCartney could have complimented Matt's toughness and fighting spirit while acknowledging that Clement struggled. ....but it's the Red Sox, so..... "Grampa McCartney"...LMAO My brother constantly says Gammons looks like an older version of Paul McCartney!
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) Who would have ever of thought we'd be excited about going on the road to NYY and Boston? The only chance this team has of not making the playoffs is if we have a prolonged slump. We're playing good enough teams for the next few weeks that if we play bad, they will beat us. We're not facing bullpens of Tampa or KC anymore. Well, the way I see it, better to get any offensive slump out of the system now. We don't need that crap come playoff time!
