  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:54 PM) All of our top hitting prospects are having good springs so far. Nice to see. very nice to see...especially considering we have given a lot of good prospects away.
  2. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) Bases loaded... Ozuna with a 2-run single to left field. Play at the plate... Dye kicks the ball out of the catcher's hand and scores. 2-1 Sox! Pablo!!!!!
  3. Some people just have too much time on their hands to go and mess up what other people create....I don't get it.
  4. I am just glad to see there are dorks as big as me out there.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 28, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) Ok so I was bored the other day, and figured out something pretty cool on Google Earth. Obviously, you can zoom in on anywhere using it (including The Cell) but what I figured out is that you can do direct line measurements in feet. So I tried this out, doing it twice to assure accuracy (yeah I was really bored lol). I did my own measurements of the outfield dimensions at the stadium using google earth, with a line starting right at home plate and going out to the walls. I can say that using zoom capabilities, angles, and getting the same numbers doing this twice, these measurements are about 99.9 percent accurate. Here is what I came up with (all numbers are rounded within half a foot, ex 325.71 feet=326 feet or 395.17 feet=395 feet.) Left Field Pole=326 feet (marked as 330 feet on official website) Left Center Field Gap=369 feet (marked as 377 feet on official website) Straight Away Center=395 feet (marked as 400 feet on official website) Right Center Field Gap=373 feet (marked as 372 feet on official website) Right Field Pole=330 feet (marked as 330 feet on official website) Also of note, the deepest part of the yard are the 2 crevices (for lack of a better term) that are just to the left and right of straight away center, marking between 396.1 feet (left side) and 396.3 feet (right side). The area from the right field foul pole to where the bullpen bar/patio turns to bullpen is all between 330 and 345 feet (very favorable) but once the bullpen starts, the wall jettisons out pretty quickly to the 373 feet at the RC marking just past where the bullpen ends, and then again at a more modest rate to the 396 at the right side crevice. The area from the left field foul pole to the Comcast sign is between 326 feet and 348 feet, before jettisoning out pretty quickly to 369 at the LC marking in the midst of the retired players, and then again at a more modest rate to the 396 mark at the left side crevice. So what does this all mean besides I have too much free time (although I only needed about 15 or 20 mins to do this)? Not a lot, as the measurements I came up with are pretty close to what are marked. But it shows the markings are deceiving, as other than certain parts of the wall which quickly jettison so that the markings are accurate, the park has VERY VERY favorable home run distances. Also, IMO left field is a bit more favorable for home runs as it has slightly more favorable dimensions overall, and also IMO the fundementals deck blocks some swirling winds, allowing a more true flight of the ball to the favorable dimensions. Ok I'm done now, feel free to call me a nerd and such but I thought this was pretty fun. Wow
  6. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 20, 2006 -> 01:05 PM) According to the Sox, all 27 game plans in all sections are sold out: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...split_plans.jsp Pretty amazing. Just wanted to get this info out there for people to see - I didn't see it mentioned elsewhere. There are apprently still Ozzie plans, and full season plans are still available (though scout, club, premium lower box and premium upper box are sold out for all games, all plans, as posted previously). Wow....amazing what a World Series will do for a team. I can't wait to go to a full park all the time.
  7. If you can add more people to the league add me in please....thanks. Newbie to the league btw.
  8. I will be in as well...plus a 4 or so.
  9. I am definitely attending all three days with my new digital camera in hand. Hopefully I can get some really nice pics to put up on the forum.
  10. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...ack=1&cset=true Brutal. :puke my thoughts exactly
  11. I was left out of Opening Day as well....tuesday for me as well. We did our 2 seat Ozzie plan last week and got some games downstairs, but mostly in the upper deck. So definitely hurry up if you want it.
  12. The Jon signing is a HUGE surprise...just because of all the contract reports. I could see a trade happening now...but if it does not knock Kenny's socks off it probably won't happen until the season starts and teams are even more desperate. Kenny is in the best situation with his abundance of pitching depth but could sign another bullpen arm or 2.
  13. White Sox ornament...my mom gets us ornaments to signify the year...World Series definitely was the best thing of this year. Also, the SI subscription for the White Sox free gifts....which I finally now have all in the mail.
  14. Thanks for the post. Very good read. I don't understand the Gammons and Bruce Levine bashing on this forum. They are both very good at what they do. Gammons with his writing..despite his Red Sox bias and Levine with his reporting. Sure Bruce has some stuff that is way out in left field and is a bitter old man sometimes but he is a damn good reporter and is always the 1st in the city to know if anything goes down with our beloved White Sox. Sorry for the rant....good read.
  15. Great post fathom....I always enjoy and crack up over your sarcastic and negative game posts. Good to see a positive one from you. I just have a couple of additions regarding the suspects..i mean prospects. How many actual prospects do we have starting for our current team? 2 that I can think of...Crede and Buerhle. ARow was one I know. Drafting well and having a great farm system...especially in pitching and outfielders, which have been blessed with, allows you to make trades to improve your current team. All of your good to even great prospects cannot end up making your team. It is impossible. In today's baseball players do not stay with their teams their whole careers and the only one I would really want back would be Young....but if that allows us to sign Contreras, by putting pressure on him, or trade him or Garland to get someone else (a la Crawford) that makes it even more worthwhile. Do not judge Kenny until all the cards have been dealt. He knows what he is doing and has a plan...believe in KW!!!!!
  16. Rogers has been all over the Sox coverage lately. Good to see....better to read than that jackass over at the other paper. Not to name any names...*cough* Moronati.
  17. I agree with this assessment...but with Kenny you never know. I have a good feeling that he is not done yet. The Vazquez deal puts pressure on Contreras and Jon to strike a new deal before the offseason ends.
  18. To see Frank leave almost makes me as sad as when Harold was traded to the Rangers.
  19. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) The Score is asking if Konerko/Thome will be the best back to back (in the line up) Sox players ever. Even though most would not like to admit it...when Joey Belle was here, he and Thomas were the most prolific in Sox history. Joey had the best single season in SOx history that year.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) is there a press conference? I hope so.
  21. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) So...Kenny Williams is god. Anyone disagree? I definitely agree.
  22. Great Job KW!!! Way to get it done!!!! Kenny isn't done yet either. Expect more minor moves.....but usually his minor moves are some of the best in the league. IE Loaiza, Iguichi, Uribe, etc.
  23. Does anyone know if there is going to be a News Conference for this...like on Comcast or something? Or if AM 1000 is going to cut out of Patrick for one?
  24. QUOTE(daa84 @ Nov 30, 2005 -> 12:57 PM) podsednik pierre thome konerko dye iguchi pierzynski crede uribe oh baby I think I better go change my underwear after viewing that lineup.
