As my good friend Danny Mac says: Prospect = Suspect. For every Jeff Bagwell for Larry Andersen there are the trades that help both teams. Can't really think of any...because we only really remember the bad ones. This one gives both teams a little of what they need. But i digress. Remember back to last year when Kenny addressed every need we had. He is back at it again adding the lefty bat. He has a plan my friends. I believe in Kenny Williams and really think this is a good trade for various reasons: 1. We have a plethora of OFers and can afford to lose some to get what we need. It is much easier to replace ARow than say Garland or Contreras. (Which we might still lose one anyways) 2. As stated earlier....Prospect = Suspect and you have to give up good players to get good players. 3. This makes our team better, given a healthy Thome, and it actually increases our chances of bringing back Paulie in my opinion. He gets some protection in the lineup. Think of what this offense did with a healthy Thomas. Thome can do that plus.

I can't believe Comcast did something right for once. I am sooooo excited!!!!

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 16, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) They need to try harder then. When we were there in August it was disgusting. I agree that Fenway was very dirty, seats hard to sit in and the bathrooms were awful but my most disappointing experience of Fenway was they actually did the wave when I was there. BOO!!!! Yankee stadium was pretty dirty too...but way too cool to call a dump. (i.e. Monument Park) But nonetheless, I enjoyed both of the parks and would definitely recommend both to any baseball fan to visit at least once. Back to the post, I voted for Hump dome although I have never been there, domes and baseball do not do it for me. Baseball not played on real grass is a travesty. Also the place is hard to play in and I have heard stories of the Twinkies trying to cheat in there with fans blowing and whatnot.

QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 03:36 PM) Well, I guess since the expert has spoken, there's no reason to follow the hot stove this offseason. lol. I don't think Paulie will sign with the Carmines anyways. Angels or Chi Sox in my opinion. But what do I know...I don't work in Bristol, Connecticut.

When I was a caddie at Olympia Fields CC I met and caddied for numerous athletes/celebrities but the best story was defenitely when I caddied for Paulie Konerko. OFCC used to have this March of Dimes tournament where lots of athletes and celebs come. In the year 2000 I Paulie picked who was not that widely known yet. I picked him because, I of course, was a huge Sox fan. Paulie was a very nice and engaging guy and decided to walk instead of ride so he could talk to me...I don't think he liked the other guys in the group anyways. They didn't really know who he was at that point and I did. He didn't even have his clubs with him, he was using Greg Norton's but he played well nonetheless. Then came the par 3 third hole, which was about our 15th hole, with everyone starting on different holes. He looks at me and says what do you think...7 or 8-iron? He had been swinging pretty well and with a nice tail wind I said 8. He hit a great shot and we are all thinking...man that might have a shot to go in. Goes in the hole. Paulie hits a HOLE-IN-ONE!!!!!!!! Unbelieveable...we all go crazy. That hole was sponsored by someone that was giving a free trip to Ireland. So it was safe to say that I got a real nice tip that day and a memory that I will never forget. I have talked to Paulie since then and he still remembers the event...not really my face but a great memory nonetheless.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) Correct me if I am wrong, but the Ozzie plan is a savings of $1 per ticket...right? So in th end, I save 13 dollars, but am atleast going to see one Sox/Cubs game and one game of each post-season (if I choose to buy). Right? Series tix are NOT included. Yeah 1 Sox/Cubs, and all of ALDS. No ALCS...at least that was the way it was this year.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) So wait, they complain about how Bo was trotted out to throw the 1st pitch in game 2 of the W.S., yet they don't even bother to note who threw out the first pitch of the first game of the playoffs? Agree about the first pitch thing but it is great to see that someone cares about how great Frank Thomas is as much as we do. I don't know if he will get 1st ballot but he should be a HOFer without question.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 31, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) When Timo was going to show the number of outs in the inning on his hand but instead gave Uribe the middle finger. Also, when Buehrle nailed B.J. Surhoff with a pitch as payback and got ejected before completing 6 innings and Hawk went crazy on Brian Gormin. That Hawk moment was classic and Ed Farmer was going pretty crazy as well. But i think my favorite was that Pablo swinging at that pitch while the catcher was throwing. I believe it was John Anderson on Sportscenter that couldn't stop laughing at it.

This was one of the most enjoyable summer/October of my life. Going to over 30 games with my dad, friends and girlfriend. I never thought we would be able to share the joy of a World Championship like this with all the people I love. From Opening Day to Joe Crede's walk-off against Cleveland. From Mark Buerhle's under 2 hour game to Iguichi's homer off of Boomer Wells. I was there for all these great moments and more and they will be imprinted in my memories forever!! This championship is for ALL of Chicago to enjoy...South, North and West sides. This one is for the 85 year old man that has endured so much joy and heartache watching the White Sox. This one is for the 10 year old kid who just became a White Sox fan, even if he does not quite grasp what he has just witnessed. This one is for Hawk, DJ, Rooney and Farmio who so eloquently bring the games to us. I will never forget this year for as long as a live. Everytime I go to the ballpark and see the 2005 World Championship banner I will have to fight back tears from thinking of all the great moments I enjoyed. Thank you White Sox for a summer I will never forget.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 01:06 PM) I remain skeptical about things said at parades. I recall Carmelo Anthony hinting he'd return to school after they want the Natl Championship. Don't put too much into something said at such an emotional and euphoric time. We'll have to pretty much offer a match to keep him but I think JR will probably do it. I don't think there will be a discount though There is a difference between kids returning to school and guys coming back to teams they get paid on. Carmelo WANTED to come back. He cried when he was told not to. I am not sure about May...but I am sure it was a similar situation.

Jerry Reinsdorf deserves a lot more credit in this city than he gets. He has now delivered 7 championships to this city......WAY more than anyone else can come close to. Yeah he had a certain Michael Jordan for 6 of those but you know what, he did something that NO chicago owner has been able to do since Comiskey. Bring a World Series to Chicago. Yes I am aware of his involvement of the 94 strike and his unwillingness to spend money sometimes but he has always wanted to bring this championship to Chicago. He has always said he would trade those Bulls Championships for 1 World Series ring. By the passion shown today and the bringing along of Kenny and Ozzie....he proved he meant it. Bringing his WHOLE staff to Houston to be a part of the celebration...thats class my friends. Tell me of another owner that has done that. This organization is a family, from Jerry at the top to the ticket guy at gate 3. Congratulations Jerry and may Moronati NEVER write bad words about you again!!!!

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 12:44 PM) OMG!!! PAULIE JUST GAVE IT TO JERRY!!!!! I thought Jerry was going to lose it.

What a classy move by Paulie. Shows what this organization is made of. I also liked the dig that Hawk had on Moronati. I think we have more of a chance of signing PK than I originally thought. He seems to be a guy that would like to reward the team that gave him the chance to play. Unless someone completely blows what the Sox can offer out of the water he should be back. My gut feeling.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 28, 2005 -> 02:15 AM) The 98 Yankees are clearly the best team of the WC era. But you can definitely argue the White Sox as the second best team of that same time period. Just because of the staff alone. If the Sox can find a way to sign PK they could be looking at some very good years and some GREAT battles with the Indians. If PK doesn't turn out to be an option I trust KW to come up with a good plan though. It will just be tougher without the rock in the middle of the lineup.

QUOTE(indyman @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:22 PM) Quote: "Yes, the games were close, but they weren't exciting. I'm calling it the third-worst World Series of the ESPN era (since 1979), behind the completely and utterly forgettable affair between the Orioles and Phillies in 1983 and the disastrous Earthquake Series in 1989 between the A's and Giants." David Schoenfield, ESPN My question .. Last year's games had Boston scoring in the first in every game...and had no lead changes in the whole series. But ... the 2005 was boring???? Just because it didn't have the Yanks or Red Sox? Who cares what they think...we enjoyed, the games were close, sox won them all. That is all that matters.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) I remember a few years ago we wore the 1917 jersey as an alternative Sunday home games jersey. That just got me to thinking, is there any chance that the Sox will unviel a new jersey just for this WS? It won't happen but it would be awesome if they did.

QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 08:19 AM) So how do we hit Petitie, Oswalt and Clemens???? Anyone have #s of our hitters against these studs? We will need our pitchers to pitch shut outs too. Good thing is Astros hitting is light.....but still we have to figure out a way to score some runs Anyone know who hits these guys well??? You ask and you shall receive. Numbers according to Yahoo Sports: Oswalt -------- Dye - 0-3 (.000) 3 k's Timo - 4-7 (.571) 2 2b's 2 bb's 1 sb AJ - 5-8 (.625) 1 2b 2 rbi Pods - 6-23 (.261) 1 2b 1 rbi 1 bb 2 sb Clemens ----------- Crede - 3-5 (.600) 2 hr 2 rbi Dye - 6-18 (.333) 1 hr 1 rbi Carl - 3-20 (.150) 1 rbi Paulie - 5-18 (.444) 2 hr 5 rbi Pods - 5-14 (.357) 1 hr 1 rbi Uribe - 1-2 (.500) Pettite -------- Crede - 1-2 (.500) 2b Dye - 6-18 (.333) 4 2bs 1 rbi Carl - 9-32 (.281) 1 2b 4 rbi Paulie - 9-23 (.391) 1 2b 1 3b(interesting) 1 hr 7 rbi AJ - 4-11 (.364) 2 rbi A Row - 0-4 Uribe - 1-2 (.500) 1 hr 2 rbi Despite their dominance of NL teams we seem to match up pretty well with their stud pitchers...much to my surprise. On a side note if we could play Harold he has hit Clemens very well in his career 2 hr's 9 rbi's and a .305 avg and Frank has killed Petitte with 3 hr's 12 rbi's and hitting .355.
