  1. Not to toot my own horn on this one but when I was watching the game tonight I thought back to this post I started and thought to myself........this team is rapidly climbing the charts not for regular season statistical reasons but for it's postseason accolades. Since the midway point in September, even though they lost a couple of those games due to no offense, this staff has been dominate. Count in both starts, Mark and now Jon have all been lights out when it has matter the most. This has definitely been the best summer/fall of my life seeing over 30 games myself in person and I hope to see a couple more!!!!
  2. QUOTE(juddling @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 10:56 PM) Since the Angels fans are still b****ing and moaning about the Sox 'cheating' i would like to have seen Ozzie do one thing tonight. When Donnelly took the mound...ozzie should have walked to the umps and had them check his cap, his mitt, and his pockets. i think it would have screwed with their minds (and their fans as well) and sent a subtle statement about the difference between 'cheating' and taking advantage of a blown call. i reminded a few chirpy Angel fans about donnelly getting suspended for 10 games or so for having an illegal substance on his cap earlier this year. it shut them up quick. GO SOX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good thought, but I agree do not give them anything they can use as motivation. Keep talking about how much you respect them and how much they remind you of yourselves.
  3. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) Forgot about Marte, forgot about Colon On the flip side...the Cotts trade was not a rape. Oakland lost Foulke after the year...but we got some guy named Billy Koch? Haunted the Sox for a year and a half before our savior, Wilson Valdez, came along and rescued us from the nightmare. You also forgot one of the worst trades the White Sox have made in quite some time...Todd Ritchie nearly lost 20 games for the White Sox in 2002...he had about 15 or 16 in August when he went down with a "shoulder" injury. I don't care that Wells is mediocre, that Fogg is mediocre, that Lowe was on 3 different teams in 2002...that trade was horrible. Every GM makes bad trades and signings. Colon? At the time that was a huge trade and was the right idea. Marte? Until recently had been a very effective lefty out of the pen...sure he would be scary but he had scary stuff as well. Boomer Wells was a great signing in 2001 (I believe) as well but it just didnt work out. Sometimes things work...other times they do not but no one can keep KW from getting credit for teaming up with Ozzie and starting a vision for this team. This is not the end of the road either my friends....they are just getting started. I heard someone chirping I believe on a big network stating earlier this year before the playoffs that this team reminds them of the '98 Yanks. If JR opens his wallet just a little bit in the offseason, which may just happen and they can sign a couple of people, namely PK, look out AL, the Chi Sox will be coming hard for years to come.
  4. QUOTE(sox-r-us @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 09:33 PM) So should KW write a book (Billy Beane style) for: Raping Ed lynch to give up Garland Raping Billy Beane to give up Cotts Raping Colorado management to give up Uribe Raping Mariners GM to give up Garcia Raping Cashman to give up Contreras ---------------------------------------- You know, KW might actually make it to the series with this team, and Beane has never even got there. Shoot....Beane has not won a playoff series yet!!! Screw Moneyball...we have Ozzieball!!!!! And Mark and Jon complete domination. Looking good.
  5. QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 10:20 PM) actually my bet is Litke will write you back; i've met the guy and he is OK, though I agree that article was horses***. So what if there's no white sox nation. There are plenty of cool stories on the south side, diehard fans living in Mt. Greenwood, Beverly in the old mansions, etc., who live and die with their Sox. Screw you mr. Litke. Enjoy the same ol stories; the country is getting Sox vs. Angels; nice little series between the also rans (Dodgers dominate media and fandom there; Cubs here). true about the angels. they get no love and have been very good, if not great for the last 3 years. better than the yankmees at least. hopefully the sox turn into the angels and win the series and have a couple of great years themselves. go sox!!!
  6. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) So, I am really the one in need of praise. I'm on a 5 game streak. Me too!!! I'm on a 5 game streak and will be there on Tuesday!!! Go Sox and keep it up!!!!
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:45 PM) Marte better be gone, I don't want Ozzie to have the option of pitching him again this year. It might actually come down to who the Sox play. Anaheim, Los Angeles Orange County Angels Anderson, Finley and Erstad only tough lefties...but Politte might be able to get them out better than Marte. Yankmees Giambiotch, Tino, Posada(Switch) and Matsui is a little taller order as far as lefties go. I really do not want to see Marte at all on the roster but leaving him off might not be an option. Ozzie has a tough call to make.
  8. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) The 2005 magic continues. I yelled so loud on the final out that my cat ran into a wall trying to escape. Watched at the last couple of innings at work....absolutely amazing. El Duque was ridiculous....heard that part on my car radio. El Duque saved Marte's ass and don't blame Ozzie for that one....he had no choice in the 6th inning. Cotts needs to be saved for the 7th or 8th. Blame Garcia for not getting through 6...not Ozzie. Great job boys and keep it up...keep having the greatest season of our lives!!!!
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:09 PM) That phrase is redundant. How true. And Kasilias is a grade A douche.
  10. QUOTE(Spiff @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 11:54 PM) to quote Reynolds "Boston's lack of pitching is an advantage." How my head kept from exploding I'll never know. LOL. Usually I enjoy listening to HR and think he has some good things to say...but all of his comments about this series and the White Sox in general have been WAY off.
  11. I don't really know the numbers but the White Sox hitting with RISP in this series has to be ridiculous. I know some of it has something to do with the Red Sox pitching but it is a very good sign and very reminiscent of the Angels of 2002. They were not a great offensive club during the regular season but came up HUGE in the playoffs. Keep it up boys and those were the 2 greatest games I have EVER been too!!!!
  12. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) The ovation during the intros. The huge noise made for big frank. The excitment during the intro video/thunderstruck. Hanging on every pitch in the 1st inning w/ renteria on 2nd. Standing up with 2 strikes on ortiz. The silence during the confrontation of clement/pods on the basepaths in the 1st. The mosh pit it became soon after. The best experience i've ever had at a sox game: the loudest and clearest singing of NA NA NA NA for matt clement's exit today. The 4 different curtain calls, all deserving. I was so proud of sox fans today and it made for the best sox game i've ever been to. Pics are here http://community.webshots.com/album/468915527WVGADI to sox fans I was there too and will be wearing the same thing I did today and have worn the last 4 games....all White Sox winners!!! That was the best sports atmosphere I have been involved with. The energy definitely helped the club today and who says we can't play in front of big crowds? They have so much confidence and are not playing like a typical Chicago baseball team in the playoffs. Which is good... Keep it up boys!!!!
  13. Another reason not to listen to WEEI..overconfident bastages.
  14. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 11:10 AM) One of the hosts mentioned that the last 3 times the White Sox were eliminated in the playoffs, John Olerud was on the other team. He now plays for the Red Sox. Wow...that is actually kind of creepy. That needs change...THIS YEAR!!
  15. Wow...great news. Wasn't sure how Frank was doing or his position among the rest of the team. I guess everything is ok and I cannot wait to see it tomorrow...even if I am in the Upper Deck. The place will just go nuts and the team should really respond to the energy...good call having Frank throw out the first pitch.
  16. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:24 PM) TB WINS 1-0!!! 3!!! You gotta love those pesky D-Rays!!!!! Thank you sweet Lou!!
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Absolutely There is no other option.
  18. Sizemore soft liner out of the inning.
  19. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) Outside of Wakefield, yeah, it's bad right now. Luckily for them they have the big bats. Those bats can't save you every night. Have to keep the ball in the ballpark some of the time.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:40 PM) 2 on, 1 out in the 7th for the D Rays. double play ends the inning. bottom 7. 0-0
  21. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Vic Darensbourg has the single biggest head I have ever seen in any photo on MLB Gameday. LOL. I just checked it out...you are correct sir!
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Alex Rodriguez is pretty good. Yea...he crushed that too to the opposite field.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Better get at least one run this inning. There is your one run.
