QUOTE(valponick @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 06:41 PM) The good thing is we seem to play better at home when nobody is there. Maybe if we get everyone to wear blue during the playoffs it will create some sort of illusion. good call

I just wanted to voice my opinion that I would like to see a positive vibe at U.S. Comiscular this weekend. Let's not turn into Cub fans and start booing our team everytime they make mistakes (they do have a little more reason to boo) and cheer our favorite team to victory. I know everyone is frustrated right now..I know I am, but if we go out there with some positive energy, I believe it will help a lot. I will be there friday cheering the Sox to another victory over the hapless Tigers!!!

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) I do not think it is blind optimism to think the Sox will do well. All of the facts suggest the White Sox should do well, it is only those who want to look at a small sample size who write about gloom and doom. 1) The White Sox have one of the best pitching rotations in baseball. Pitching not hitting is what wins championships. 2) Every team wins 40 games and loses 40 games. The White Sox won many earlier this year that they should not have won. Eventually the ebb and flow will mean the Sox would lose some games that they should not win. 3) The Indians and Twins have to play each other, and the White Sox. Unless either the Twins or Indians (mainly the Indians at this point) blow out the other 2, there is no way they can catch the Sox. 4) The return of Pods. When a team is built on speed and getting leads early, losing that piece is devastating to the offense. Eventually the Indians will cool, lose a series, get swept, etc, and next thing you know the Sox magic number will be around 10 with us still having a 5 game or so lead. Right now 2 things are working against the Sox; 1) The Sox are playing bad. 2) The Indians are playing better than every other team in baseball. If either of these change, the division is done. SB great post!! you hit everything right on the head!!!

oops..i voted no but really have been to one....in 1993 i went to the sox DH i believe against the texas rangers THE DAY BEFORE THEY CLINCHED!! i remember they won the first game and the place was going nuts because they could clinch it if they won the 2nd game. joey cora came up in the 9th with a chance to tie it with someone on 2nd and hit a little floater to the centerfielder who made a spectacular play. we were pissed. but then the great Bo Jackson moment would have never happened...great doubleheader nonetheless.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 09:24 PM) Dye and Rowand with Pods getting on at the top could carry this team. They're looking good right now. I'm sticking to my guns, if we go into the playoffs with a few guys like this hitting, we're in good shape. right on!! does anyone else watch playoff games? all it takes is for 2-3 guys to get hot and with this pitching we can beat anyone in the AL! im staying on the wagon right next to ya Kalapse!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:59 PM) The team isnt done. Our offense needs to hit like they have today for the rest of september and into October. If the offense hits like today we will be ok. This was one of the best hitting examples I have seen since the Baltimore series. Our pitching will be fine. Maybe Ozzie can work Brandon into the rotation and go with a six man rotation and give our starters rest. Our starters are tired and probably overworked. My only worry is the offense, if that part can get its head out of its ass we will be ok. I have been saying that since opening day. agreed....everyone just needs to take a chill pill. if this was may no one would be talking about it..but because it is august and september people are worried. remember...PITCHING and DEFENSE wins in the playoffs. as long as we get our head out of our ass and catch the ball we will win...blum gave away 4 runs in the first game and yesterday tadahito gave away at least 3. we win those games if we play defense. hitting is streaky...it is never consistent. that is why we went to "smart ball" when we arent hitting well we try to scrap some runs together...sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. this is what we have and we have to deal with that. everyone keep your head up and enjoy the very magical year!!!!

BMAC Dye Sox offense?.....yes (keep it up!!)
-
yes...save some innings on buerhle and company. the innings have seemed to catch up to mark a little bit and possibly jon g. it is a luxury to have at this point in the season and we should exploit it. any contender in the AL would take any of our starters except maybe Oakland and the Angels.

very very impressive and good job ozzie of not pulling your best Dusty Baker and leave him in for the whole game

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:54 PM) Brandon to Bobby..we'll be seeing that a lot in the upcoming years.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 08:52 PM) When he was getting shelled earlier this year, it was because he had ZERO confidence in his changeup, the pitch that he used as his out pitch in spring training along with that nasty curvebal. This is very good to see. agreed...you could see that he made the adjustment with the turnaround in his numbers down in AAA. its encouraging to see a young guy like him make such a quick adjustment.
