  1. That's a good question...I didn't even notice that. He hasn't posted that low of a WAR since 2014.
  2. I can go with this plan on RP. I am not a huge Puig fan, but depending on his price and willingness to platoon I am good with bringing him aboard.
  3. I don't get this article. If they are using WAR as the premise to NOT be afraid of the White Sox, then their argument doesn't make much sense to me. White Sox currently are 2.7 Wins behind the Twins according to Fangraphs (https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=Team). I am willing to guess they were far greater than 2.7 wins behind the Twins at this point last year. I know the offseason isn't over and the Twins will probably sign 1-2 more guys at least, but the Sox may sign some more as well (RP and possibly another RF).
  4. He will find a way...lets not kid ourselves. That brings up the question, with the accelerated rebuild here...can Rick handle this and should they have been looking for a replacement there too this offseason?
  5. Furthermore, Mazara would probably rarely ever play against LHP. If Castellanos hit LH I would be more concerned with having Mazara and BDN on the roster together.
  6. Not if you think you can unlock something with him. I wouldn't think of it as we acquired him to be a 4th OFer, but getting someone else like Castellanos or whoever is just depth and insurance in case Mazara really can't make adjustments like the Rangers think. I think the opposite...if we planned on Mazara to play regular RF that would be a mistake.
  7. That really isn't that out whack of a theory IMO. It is easy to just plant some stories.
  8. It is a really bad look, but it isn't like they don't have a top 5 MLB payroll...they just don't want to go into the luxury tax. They are just being killed by the bad contracts of Heyward and Chatwood. Lester is a bad contract now, but I wouldn't consider that a bad deal. And that Kimbrel one is going to turn out to be horrible I think too. Too many BIG swings and misses hurting them.
  9. Would Cubs need to work on multiple deals with teams depending on how the grievance works out? They are getting quite screwed by this because I am sure teams want to see how long they would keep Bryant. And I wonder who the market still is for him other than Braves. Phillies still?
  10. 100% this. It will just create depth as long as they don't give some ridiculous contract, which based on the Grandal and Keuchel deals they are not going beyond 3-4 years.
  11. Nope. That is why you have both on the roster IMO. I would do a platoon, but not a strictly lefty/righty platoon. Depending on matchups, I would play EE 3-4 games a week and Collins 2-3 depending on how many games you have. Cubs somehow got all their players to play and they didn't have a DH...I don't think it will be hard to get everyone playing time. Outside of the young players, Abreu, Grandal, EE (if signed) shouldn't be playing every day.
  12. Honestly I think the guy in this scenario that gets the least amount of ABs is McCann. He is your primary backup C and right handed. EE takes his DH spot and some of Collins but he should get more than 30 games of PT. EE shouldn't play every day at 37.
  13. 100% agreed. The key to any of this is depth, both hitting and pitching. EE probably can't even play 135-140 games anymore (even at DH) and yes we would be taking away some from Collins but he would still get plenty and should be kept on MLB roster (barring any additional moves beyond EE) because of that extra 26th man. I feel as though if you spread everything out for everyone it would keep guys fresh for the LONG season.
  14. Home run celebration alone is worth it for both real life and MLB The Show.
  15. With the 26th man on the roster I see no reason why EE and Collins can’t exist on the roster together. Having a 3rd catcher option will allow lots of different lineup constructions. Sure Collins will get less ABs that way but it helps you guard against bad offensive stretches when key guys struggle and you have absolute garbage to turn to.
  16. I am greedy. Give me Dickerson, EE & a RP. A platoon of EE/Mazara at DH. I know they probably won't go that route, but I think the more bats the merrier.
  17. I like the McHugh idea as a swing man as well....I have liked him as an option from the beginning because you can never have too many guys that can start or at least go 4-5 innings. Rays have proven this. I like the idea of EE as well, but what about Dickerson? I think he is the most underrated LHH on the market. Play Dickerson in RF (he is a good defender) and platoon Mazara at DH with a RHH....maybe still EE depending on cost?
  18. Also Eno Sarris pretty much nailed it for the Sox. He said Keuchel 4 yr $80M and Gio Gonzalez 1 year $5M.
  19. I will take that. A slight over pay but kept it at 3 years and 4 if he is good. Get a DH and this is a really successful offseason.
  20. Not a bad 4th/5th starter. Third time is the charm for Gio. Hopefully Sox can still get 1 more SP in here and some bullpen help then I call this a successful offseason.
  21. Eno Sarris had a good article on the Athletic today about what some teams should do with their biggest needs. One of the teams he highlighted was our White Sox. He also says that the Sox are a climbing team and has them at 17...I am guessing those are his rankings of teams? He calls that impressive considering how poor the White Sox SP staff is. Here is a snippet of what he thinks we should do: The moves: Sign SP Dallas Keuchel to a four-year, $80 million contract Sign SP Gio González to a one-year, $5 million contract He says the Twins should sign Rich Hill & trade for Jon Gray and Murphy. Four years seems like a LOT to me, but I guess it is the price of playing poker? Better than trading for Price in my book.
  22. Agree on both of these. I like Miley a lot....obviously not as a 1/2 type of guy, but a good complement to what we have. What we need to find is our Charlie Morton. Would would have thought when the Rays signed him he would be so good?
  23. 100% agree. But this is one thing I can't fault Hahn on, unlike Machado. They put a good offer together and he chose somewhere else...nothing you can do about that.
