  1. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) Kind of sad when a guy that does not throw above 90 MPH can strike out 6 of your first 12 batters. Seems to happen to us a LOT.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Most important thing I'm seeing is more patience at the plate. Yeah, they've popped out a lot, but it's far more important in the long run if the lineup gets into a habit of making pitchers work and getting deep into counts. Alexei and AJ aside of course. But that'll be that way all year. Agreed. I was thinking of that until I saw all the pop-ups...let's see how it progresses throughout the game and if they keep the same strategy.
  3. I know it worked because they scored...but I am surprised by the bunt there. Both Andrus and Kinsler have owned Danks. Why give up the out in the 1st inning? I guess I am just too anti-bunt.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 01:15 PM) Adam Dunn OBP: 1.000 That AB...and most of what I saw in the spring he just looks like a different guy. Much more comfortable at the plate and much more confident. Hopefully it will last and hopefully he will be supported at home games to keep that confidence up.
  5. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 01:14 PM) Well De Aza steals second like Pierre did LOL. Yeah that wasn't so good.
  6. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 01:12 PM) Was that AB by De Aza better than any Pierre had as a White Sox player? You know I was going to say that when i posted the base hit but i bit my tongue. It was definitely hit harder that most of JP hits and it went full count so I would say better than most JP Abs.
  7. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 01:10 PM) Gotta bunt here. I hope that was supposed to be green. No more giving up outs!
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 6, 2012 -> 12:43 PM) Zombie Dust? I believe it is a Three Floyds beer.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 3, 2012 -> 09:45 PM) Wilkins with a very impressive swing off of a big league pitcher. It seems fairly obvious that Santiago is going to be the closer. In a few games where Ventura has managed the bullpen realistically, he had Reed/Thornton setting up for Santiago. I was very, very impressed with what I saw from N. Jones tonight. Thornton looked terrible though, as his fastball seemed way off. Hopefully he was just preserving his arm. Do you think Robin is leaning that way? If they were going to go rookie I would have thought it was going to be Reed...would be an interesting choice.
  10. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 3, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Very excited about Wilkins this season. He's got a nice lefty swing. Should take over for Konerko in '14 if Kenny doesn't trade him for Ichiro or something stupid... Not to compare him to Josh Hamilton..but his finish is very Hamilton-esque.
  11. Who is this Wilkins guy? Anyone familiar with him in the minors? Don't know much about him but he has a nice looking swing.
  12. Beckham Basher's Keepers: Miggy Cabrera Matt Kemp Jose Bautista Jered Weaver Jon Lester
  13. QUOTE (BuehrleTheAce @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) I vote for Thursday March 22 @ 8pm Central for the draft. Let's get this resolved. Anyone else have a preferred date/time for the draft? That time and day works for me. I should be home from by then no problems.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) Dayan goes from 0-2 to a BB. The day just keeps getting weirder and weirder in Sox world.
  15. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 02:55 PM) Dunn hit his double off of Michael Kirkman who is a LH. No way....it isn't April 1st yet is it? Seriously, does anyone remember how many hits he had off lefties last year? 2? 3?
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) According to gamecast it was a 93mph 4 seam fastball. Thanks. Hopefully that lighter bat will work out for him.
  17. Does anyone know if Dunn hit the homer off a fastball? That would even be a better sign. He was sooooo late on every fastball last year.
  18. I don't post many topics but I found an interesting piece on Fangraphs talking about the Sox 2 biggest issues, Rios and Dunn. Not sure if this was already posted...mods just delete the thread if it was, but I figured everyone would find it an interesting read and then possibly throw up at how 2 players are costing us at a chance at a division. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/t...ayer-problem-2/
  19. You must have been reading my mind when writing this. I talked to this with my father and father-in-law at the game yesterday. I told them to watch how the Yankees approach hitting and how the White Sox do. They were actually amazed at how different the approaches were. The only hitter on our team that can routinely do this right now is PK. He has the most confidence and pure hitting ability. If Beckham had some more teaching on how to do this at the ML level, I think he could do it as well...but he looks more lost than he did his rookie year. (When you should be lost..not in year 3). I am usually against getting rid of coaches, but Walk and/or Oz need to go at the end of the season. This team needs a new approach and outlook.
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 25, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) It must be hard to DH everyday. Or hitting lefties. Does he have a hit off a lefty all year?
