  1. Like already posted...loving the KW Ninja being back. Even if you give a couple Mildo to ATL...I cannot see this as nothing but positive.
  2. I am pretty sure a half asleep Manny Ramirez can still hit better than a 100% Mark Kotsay. Makes no sense to me.
  3. So if KW is still the GM in 5 years...will he try this with Twins players from the 2000's like he does with Indians players from the 90's?
  4. I will be there as well...UD behind home plate. Need to get there early to get the bobblehead.
  5. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 12:57 PM) Very important to win the season series vs. twinkies. Game 163 looms as a realistic possibility. We're 4-7 against them right now (thanks again, Bobby) with 7 more to be decided That would be pretty crazy if Minn is involved in a Game 163 3 years in a row.
  6. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 12, 2010 -> 11:59 AM) Wasn't the Ritchie trade pre-Kenny? Also, Hudson just moved to a more pitcher-friendly league and they haven't seen him before. Remember the end of last year...he pitched pretty well for us, too. Let him go 'round once and see what happens after that. I still think Hudson will have problems with lefties. I agree with the let us see how he does going around again.
  7. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 01:59 AM) It really is a big game for Jackson. We could easily lose 3-4 to Baltimore on the road. A split would be dandy. It's up to him, really. It is really up to the offense. The pitching has been pretty good against Bal thus far. We cannot expect our pitchers to continually give up 1-2 runs.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) If we didn't dominate Bergesen, Millwood, or Guthrie, I don't know how we can dominate Matusz. This offense needs to wake up. That is the most disappointing thing about those losses. The pitching staff did their part for the most part, just couldn't hit anything from garbage pitching except Guthrie. He is the only good pitcher we faced...and he still only marginally good.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 03:10 AM) Now that's a very CRUDE way to add and subtract payroll, as there is much more to that (bonuses, minor league players contract, arbitration, raises, ect), but at the bare minimum of cost, we have around $23M to get ALL that done. So I really can't see us keeping Peavy, Buehrle, Floyd, Danks, and Jackson together. At least 1 of them is gone, with Freddy taking the 5th spot, or Chris Sale if he does well in Arizona Fall League + Spring Training. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2010 -> 07:45 AM) If we wind up with $20 million in spending room this offseason...that's actually a lot of money and it's a recovery from the situation we were in earlier this year. With an injection of youth (Viciedo, Infante and Santos in the bullpen, the Stealth Elf locking up a bench/utility spot...and Lord only knows with Tyler Flowers at this point)...we're much farther from panic mode than we were earlier this year. There's room there to extend Konerko and AJ if we want, in addition to adding a bullpen arm or two. Interesting questions and inside looks at the numbers. KW will definitely have an interesting offseason that is for sure. At this point, I wouldn't mind bringing PK back at a discount but if we could have a lefty bat in his spot instead, the Sox may want that. Viciedo brings an interesting dynamic to the table as well because he almost seems ready. We have not seen him against righties and that may change our minds on that, but he definitely can hit ML lefties...no question. To our resident Payroll expert Kalapse...do you see the Sox being able to keep this rotation as is AND somehow get a productive lefty bat? Do they have the finances for that?
  10. Have to give Kotsay his props today. The only downside is he will now play everyday for the rest of this 14 games in 13 days.
  11. Ball game. That was a stress filled win. Good thing I am at work and could only see it on gametracker/Soxtalk.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:16 PM) f*** it. I'll say what we're all thinking. Santos should be the closer the rest of the way. Won't happen. But I think he will be next year.
  13. QUOTE (klaus kinski @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Is that Adam Kotsay or Mark Dunn? Nice.
  14. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:35 PM) Kotsay: "See, Soxtalk. I told you I could put up a .654 OPS while monopolizing the DH at bats. And you people wanted Jim Thome. Ha. Imagine a platoon of Tank and Thome. That would be awesome.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:31 PM) But, he has hit the ball hard with no luck so maybe he will snap out of it now Hard on the ground to the 2nd basemen.
  16. QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 02:30 PM) But its been a real hard two months. Well played. Don't stop now boys!
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) He's getting one weak hit a day now. Guess that's better than nothing. Maybe he should try to become a slap hitter...then Ozzie would love him even more! If that is possible.
  18. By the descriptions on yahoo...looks like Freddy is lucky Comerica is a big ballpark. Anyone see those flyouts?
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) Even he knows he shouldn't be playing. Too bad Ozzie isn't part of the movement.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) Leadoff double for Longoria after a horrible play by Delmon. Awesome.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2010 -> 08:59 PM) I remember Damon having some AWFUL at bats vs Jenks in 2005 postseason. A strike out in game 3, and a very weak foul out in game 2. And a bad AB against El Duque in Game 3 with the bases juiced!
