  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) Keep your head in the game. Beckham might foul bunt one to the corner of the UD. Nice. But I don't have to worry. If my me or my wife isn't looking he will come up and catch his own foul ball to save her.
  2. Wow....seems like lots of SoxTalk will be there. I will be in attendance as well....unfortunately in the way UD I believe. Hopefully the rain goes away.
  3. Count me in as well. Need to redeem myself for my awful fantasy baseball team.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 10:48 AM) Just announced on ESPN first and 10 on espn.com as well. For a PTBNL. Who goes out of the rotation? Liriano?
  5. I view him pretty much as a lefty version of Ryan Theriot. Theriot probably will hit for a little higher average but they are pretty much the same player in my eyes. If you have really good to great players at 2B and SS...obviously he is a great utility guy. But with what they are paying him...he has value to start at 2B. Depending on where the Sox decide to spend money in the offseason will show us where Getz's role will be. They will need to address the following needs and depending on how they address them, thats how Getz's role will be determined. LF/RF, DH, CF, 5th Starter, RP, 3B They could get a LF and shift Quentin to RF or get a LF. Crawford would look awesome in LF.....but not sure if we have anything left to make that happen. DH role could be filled be resigning Dye (hopefully cheaply). CF....who knows (organizational depth? JorDanks? maybe 2010 too early) 5th Starter (given the price of the current rotation (Danks extension?) probably organizational depth, i.e. Hudson or Torres) They already traded for Pena to save money (maybe Nunez can take the other spot?) None of those really make Getz a utility guy, but the last position might. If the Sox view Beckham as a long term 3B option, then they won't explore this. KW has always had a crush on Figgins and we all know how KW man crushes go. That would also allow the Sox to get a leadoff man, put Beckham at 2B where he would already be near Kinsler value and make our IF pretty solid. Got a little off tangent from Getz as a ROY candidate...but that is my view of his future status with the team.
  6. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:48 PM) You let them pick any four players in the organization. Buehrle-Old Danks-Floyd-Quentin-Beckham are totally off the table. They want someone like Lexi, obviously the package changes a bit, but again, those five are totally off the table, everyone else is fair game for Haren, If you can have a 1-4 of Haren-Buehrle-Floyd-Danks(R-L-R-L) for the next two-three years, you make it happen. I have already made that trade on MLB the Show...it looks good on the game. Of course on the video game it took far less than in real life.
  7. Congrats to Mark. What an accomplishment. And kudos to Wise for a remarkable play.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) Would Brian Anderson have that one? I am not sure he would. Wise being left-handed helped him make the best catch I have ever seen given the circumstance.
  9. D Wise what a play. He gets a pass for his average now.
  10. QUOTE (aprec32 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:44 PM) Yes, they'll pick it up when the Rays come to bat. Thanks. Thats what I figured but I didn't want to be missing out.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:39 PM) There's a FREE LIVE LOOK-IN at MLB.com webpage now. Are they only showing when Mark pitches? All I get is a background talking about Buerhle's game.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:35 PM) For those of you who can't watch. MLB.com has a free live look-in at the game. Is it still up...I don't see it on the scoreboard.
  13. Thank goodness Moose is out of the booth. Now I know what Cub fans have to listen to every game with Santo....just complete ramblings.
  14. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:15 PM) I was at that game. That was a nice quick game. Very. And I believe the Sox scored all of those runs with 2 outs in that 1st inning.
  15. This reminds me of the Tiger game I was at when we lit up Galarraga for like 5 in the 1st and MB had his mojo running into the 7th or so. That was about as good of stuff as I have ever seen MB have. It appears he has that same mojo today.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 02:00 PM) Easy 1-2-3 for Mark. Has all his pitches working today. I'd actually like to see Mark start to learn how to make his change move both directions, right now his good claw change moves away from righties, I've seen Rich Harden move his both ways, i think that could be an interesting thing for Mark to try out. That is how Harden is successful as a SP with only 2 pitches.
  17. Did Fields actually hit a fastball? He had to start swinging when the ball left Kazmir's hand.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) I started Kazmir on my fantasy team. I am sorry you still have him. Somehow I was able to get CC for him in a 4 player deal.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) 1-2-3 go the rays. how bout we jump out to a nice, big early lead. enough of these sweating it out games. ^^^^^^ This. We have actually hit lefties this year...so I feel pretty confident. 31-35 vs Righties - 18-10 vs Lefties
  20. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:33 PM) You can throw out every stat there is when the Sox are playing a team. Gomez and Punto will do more damage than Moreanau and Mauer in this series. I am not drunk or joking I seriously believe this. If that happens...we probably win 2 out of 3.
  21. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 03:23 PM) Guys, can I just say that I love the idea of this coming down to our pen vs. theirs. ^^^^^^ This! Maybe a Chris Perez sighting in this game?
