  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 11:33 PM) His speed is overrated on this board. He doesn't seem to get out of the box very quick. I would say Getz gets from swing to first base just as quickly as Owens. I bet Lillibridge does as well.
  2. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 11:29 PM) More bunting crap from Jerry Owens. What else can he do? Need a cutoff man to throw to 2nd? Oh yeah he can do that too.
  3. As Hawk and DJ would have said last year...he got a cookie. Or is that Farmer that says that?
  4. Is Angel Guzman still considered a prospect at this point? Seems like he has been in the minors FOREVER.
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) 97 on the first pitch fastball for Poreda. Saw that. He seems to throw a lot like Thornton, only like 4 inches shorter.
  6. QUOTE (scenario @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) mlb.com game notes Thanks. I have never seen the presspass before...lots of great info on that page.
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:45 PM) Wasserman is just not good. Hopefully we don't see him on the big club this year. Don't worry....at this rate he will not be on it unless someone gets injured.
  8. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) ugh, Wassermann. I hope he's only pitching this inning. Was their anyone besides Link and Poreda?
  9. Does anyone have a good source to get pics for their sigs? I was looking to get some pictures of Dayan in a Sox uni but couldn't find any good ones.
  10. What was Fonenot doing on that? If Owens or Betemit catches that ball he scores running backwards.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) I hate you Jerry Owens. So does everyone else. How does Kenny and Ozzie not see how bad he really is? Just look at the numbers...it isn't even close.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:29 PM) Are we seeing the Josh Fields that was on pace for 50 homers and 100 +RBI's only two years ago? I don't think so, but what we are seeing is a more well-rounded hitter. It is possible, he did have that 2 double game the other day where he did not seem to be swinging for the fences.
  13. Jes, I had visions of JD hurting himself on that play.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 4, 2009 -> 10:10 PM) I don't see why not. If Getz could jut hit .280 with a .340 OBP he'd be a more valuable player than Owens and allow the Sox to put a defensive specialist in centerfield to help out the 2 below average defenders in the corners. That was kind of my thought process. Otherwise you have 3 below average OFers out there.
  15. That is what Getz can do for you. Could he lead off over Owens? Couldn't he have a higher OBP and OPS than Owens?
  16. QUOTE (SAVVY18 @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 04:25 PM) Owens grounds out. Inning over. In to pitch...Mike MacDougal. There goes the 0 walks streak.
  17. QUOTE (scenario @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 04:19 PM) I've got some old notes I compiled on him from various sources. 22 year-old Venezuelan righthander Clevelan Santeliz heads the ranks of sleepers looking to surprise. His slider had been his best pitch until 2007, when his fastball jumped from the low 90s to the mid-90s, touching 96 mph at times. The 6-foot, 190-pound Santeliz also has a plus changeup. His development has been slowed by both his control and the lack of a consistent breaking pitch. He has been used more as a reliever than a starter but Bell switched him into the starting rotation after replacing Alan Regier as farm director. He's expected to compete for a starting spot at Birmingham in 2009. "He's got as good of an arm as anybody we have," one staffer said. White Sox minor league pitching coordinator Kirk Champion compares Santeliz to Diamondbacks reliever Juan Cruz. "When he can stay under control, he can be impressive out there," Champion said. "He's tall, thin, and we know he'll mature. We need to see consistency from him over the course of a summer." Nice work.
  18. One thing I have been impressed with thus far, it could be from most guys throwing all fastballs and changeups, but yesterday and so far today.....0 walks.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) If Thome goes on the DL for an extended period of time, I think we see #35 back in a Sox jersey. Really. That would be a sight to see. If that were to happen, sign me up for that first game.
  20. Tony Clark came back this year? I know he got traded to AZ last year but didn't think he would come back.
  21. Just for the sake of argument. If Viciedo just tears it up in Spring, but Fields does pretty well himself (doesn't play himself out of a job), does KW then really think about trading Dye for some pitching and put Viciedo or Fields in LF? Or would they consider keeping him on the roster, like they did with Alexei, or would that really hold him back on his growth?
