  1. QUOTE(Pants Rowland @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) They must be frequenting Soxtalk. Who doesn't?
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Him, Uribe, Crede... all being showed off for trade. I wouldn't be opposed to any of them being showed off for a trade. I really wish we could resign Crede, but that isn't going to happen. The Giants have been horrible on defense so far this Spring, notably on the left side of the diamond. I saw them play the Scrubs yesterday a little bit and just awful defense. They actually mentioned the Giants possibly looking at Crede in the Cub broadcast. It surprised me.
  3. Hopefully everyone that gets to watch it can give us losers that have to work some good descriptions of the game.
  4. Sorry for the late response...but I am definitely in for another go around. 1) I have been a fantasy player since 2001 and have won a couple of leagues. 2) Head to head is my preference, but would do roto if needed a player to do it. 3) I was in League 3 and would join that league again (even though I got my ass handed to me.) 4) I would be willing to be commish if need be. Only commished 1 league before but think I can handle it if needed.
  5. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 10, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) I agree. Also, we have already seen what an extended season has done to pitchers the next year. Cleveland is due for a letdown from their starters. It might only be neglible, but that might be enough. Having Jenks is a huge upgrade over the Tigers and Indians. Borowski was brutal for a closer 5.07 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and Jones wasn't much better 4.26 ERA, 1.42 WHIP. Jenks had a 0.89 WHIP and .198 BAA. Jenks did that with basically no setup man either. Detroit has the best lineup, but could have the biggest drop-off from guys like I-Rod, Sheff, and Maggs. No one from the Sox really had a great year last year, so we will hopefully see some rebound. Very, very valid points, especially the closer situation. I could see I-Rod, Sheff and Maggs dropping off a little, but M Cab should pick some of that up for them. Should make for a very interesting year in the AL Central. I believe this has already been mentioned in another post somewhere, but the Sox definitely need to improve on playing the "weaker" opponents. Their record against the NL was putrid last year and they had that one easy stretch on the schedule where it looked like they could make up some ground and they choked against the likes of the Rays, Balt. and the NL. They had decent records against DET and CLE...need to beat up on the weaker teams more.
  6. This one is priceless from Oakland Fan Website: Lew Wolff moves one step closer to his goal of zero payroll...a revenue sharing bonanza! Jeffrey Loria must be jealous Income without fans...the Wolff/Loria model.
  7. QUOTE(shipps @ Dec 28, 2007 -> 01:04 PM) His hands arent soft, his reaction time is slow, and if he does dive and pick one he doesnt have the ability to smoothly get in a solid throwing position to make consistent accurate throws.I can tell each play takes 100% concentration on Josh's part from beginning to end.But he will be a hell of an offensive 3rd basemen put up atleast 30hrs so why be so critical about his defense? Most of that I think can be improved and worked on. He isn't a hack over there...watch Ryan Braun. That is a young 3b that has no chance over there and needs to be moved to LF.
  8. Will Bedard or Roberts get traded 1st? I really hope the Sox can get Roberts but I just don't see it happening.
  9. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 03:59 PM) Thta's because Dye, Konerko and Thome are professionals with ethics That is spot on right there. I had the opportunity to sit next to J.D.'s dad at a game last year. You can definitely see where Jermaine gets his class from. He was a very engaging guy.
  10. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) I just downloaded it. 409 pages It could become one of the most popular .PDF d/ls in web history.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) If KW really wants to put a winning lineup on the field, his best way to do that would be to sign Rowand and then trade Richar and Gio for Roberts. I just can't see how teams can stand there as the Cubs are rumored to have a chance at him with a package of Gallagher and Murton. I think that Richar and Gio beats out Gallagher and Murton in that trade...but maybe thats just me.
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 01:38 PM) Guillen moves to 1st in that scenario. They've been wanting to do that anyway. Thankfully he will move to 1st because of Renteria, not A Rod.
  13. Wow...great move by the Dodgers. What would it take..if they get A Rod...to get a Furcal or Hu do you think? Garland and a minor leaguer?
  14. QUOTE(RME JICO @ Oct 29, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) So Red Sox in 1916, White Sox in 1917 Red Sox in 1918, White Sox scandal in 1919 Red Sox in 2004, White Sox in 2005 Red Sox in 2007, White Sox scandal in 2008 Maybe it comes out that Erstad and Pods were using Levitra instead of HGH. Priceless.
  15. After seeing their Post All-Star slide, problems with their offense, starting pitching struggling a bit and bullpen problems does anyone else think the Tigers look like the Sox of last year. Both teams started off hot with the bats and cooled down during the season and although I haven't compared records between the two teams they seem to have similar problems. Am I crazy or could these Tigers be like the Sox of last year and now either Minnesota or Cleveland will win the division?
  16. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jun 29, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) Er I could be wrong but I think they go earlier than normal for Cubs/Sox. Yeah..you are correct on that. Scrub/Sox series the lots definitely open sooner. I thought that maybe you could come early for every series but was unsure...figured I should check before I tell everyone in my group to get there really early. Has anyone tailgated early this year in the Non Scrub/Sox series?
  17. Does anyone know if the lots open more than 2 hours before the game? I was hoping to get there earlier than 5:00 to start tailgating on the 5th. Or is there any other lot around the park that opens earlier? If anyone knows anything please let me know...thanks.
  18. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 09:58 PM) If the Sox can make it back to .500 by the All-Star break I'll feel comfortable declaring them back in this thing. As crazy as it sounds I kind of agree with this...even though I doubt it will happen. Remember to make the playoffs the Tigers or the Indians would have to fall...and I am not totally sold on the Indians. Carmona has come back to earth, Byrd has struggled and Jo Bo isn't that reliable. Anything can happen but it is still a LONG shot.
  19. Congrats Frank!!! Greatest White Sox player of all-time. Who was the last player to go into the Hall as a White Sox player?
  20. Seems as though everyone is as confident as me in this team right now.
  21. What a strange, strange game. Good to get the win. And you are right...last year we find a way to lose that game.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 09:14 PM) Good grief, his stuff isn't crisp so far. Any idea on his velocity? Yeah. Not so good.
  23. Get 'em on, Get 'em over, Get 'em in. Winning, grinder ball right there.
