  1. I think most people want a new fresher perspective of how the team is run. More analytical driven. Age has nothing to do with it. Maddon is up there in age but he is more on the analytical side (even if his in game managing is a little strange at times) and I would take him over LaRussa in a heart beat.
  2. We need a puke emotion on posts. Thats what I would give this take. No offense Greg.
  3. I don't mind that at all. He does have a great baseball mind/eye....just don't think I want him in the day to day as a manager.
  4. I am getting concerned a little, but hopefully JR really does believe in letting Hahn choose. I feel REALLY confident Hahn would not choose LaRussa.
  5. Devils advocate on the don't hire cheaters thing....this was (still is?) a widespread problem in baseball. I am not condoning it, but just saying a blanket statement of not hiring someone or signing FA players caught cheating (Sox have had plenty on their rosters) you would be REALLY limiting your pool of candidates and players. Just adding fuel to the fire. ?
  6. It doesn't make it any better (he didn't stop it when he could have), but Hinch wasn't the source of the cheating. I personally know nothing of his character, or if he learned anything from his experience. I would expect that if he is hired that the cheating subject is brought up and I would expect that if he is hired that he gives the appropriate response. (i.e. this should never have happened under my watch, I was wrong that I didn't step in, etc). I believe people can learn from their mistakes should be given chances. If he was the main culprit (which based on what I have seen he wasn't) or cheating was in multiple places (I don't believe it was when he was in AZ) then I would call it a pattern. This doesn't appear to be a pattern. The bigger question is, how many games would he have won without cheating? We will never know. He didn't win in AZ, but I believe he said he learned from that experience and brought that to Houston. It will be interesting to say the least on what they do here.
  7. Same here. Brantley is a consistent pro year in and year out. And he is a different kind of hitter than what we have. Joc is just more of the same. I would even be in for putting him as DH and getting an additional RF...but I know the last thing we need is more DHs.
  8. Agree with this sentiment. Renteria seems like a nice enough guy...just in over his head as a major league manager on a team that is on the cusp of winning. Very surprised, but glad they are doing this now. Don't wait around and target guys you want. I am really interested on what their manager list looks like. Alomar? Would they consider Hinch? You have to interview some TB coaches I would assume.
  9. If you are the Red Sox do you do this? That seems like not enough even if after TJ for Sale.
  10. Bauer is my #1 target if I am Hahn. SP in general is my #1 target. I would sign a few if you can....going back to 162 games you can't have enough SP, the Sox didn't even have enough for 60. After pitching, I would look for a lefty bat. I know he is on the older side, and defense is probably lacking, but I take a hard look at Michael Brantley. I am guessing that the Astros don't bring him back with guys like Tucker still looking for a spot. He is a professional lefty hitter who can get on base. I would see if you can get a 2 year deal and hope to find a RF in the next few years for the long term.
  11. It was ridiculous no place for it in Little League, let alone MLB. I am pretty sure my 6 year old has more common sense than that. All that being said ReyLo definitely was in there an inning too long. Ricky strikes again!
  12. Unfortunately for Cease, I don't think he does it on purpose right now.
  13. Yes it did. Ball is carrying today to RF at least.
  14. That is an interesting idea. I haven't thought of that. Would you do Moncada 3 then?
  15. I would keep the playeres lineup with a minor tweak: Anderson Grandal Abreu Eloy Moncada McCann Robert Engel Madrigal Reason being split the lefties a bit and Grandal is a great OBP guy ahead of the big boppers. I don't mind Moncada 2 if you want to put best players 1st, if you want that then Grandal should be 5 not, 3. IMO. Anderson Moncada Abreu Eloy Grandal McCann Robert Engel Madrigal Very minor critique....glad they are finally putting the best possible lineup out there at least.
  16. That’s how it was with Mariano Rivera. Not trying to compare the two but his cutter was devastating to lefties. Righties has a better chance against Rivera than lefties.
  17. His last 7 games have been pretty good for Cishek. Closer to normal for him. I hope you are right because the bullpen could really use it.
  18. Honestly that would be best case scenario IMO. Best chance to win a series I would think. Except maybe against the Yankees only because 2/3rds of their team is always injured. Seriously, what is up with the Yankee injury issues?
  19. Fangraphs had him as a FV 70 for defense as well. 60 current value.
  20. With a depleted bullpen I actually think that was a good managers job by Renteria. First time I think he actually got it right. Like ever. I have to give him credit because most of the time I think he is not very good. Keep it going boys.
  21. What a great angle to see how far he really went. Just an incredible catch.
  22. They really need Lopez to figure how to throw from the bullpen. Is Ian Hamilton an option at all or is he hurt too?
  23. Agreed. And that is a perfect example of replay getting it right. 2nd base ump probably couldn’t even see he came off the bag.
