  1. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:27 PM) this umpire crew is a friggin joke They are awful. Last night was bad and tonight isn't looking much better from the umps.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:26 PM) I'm so impressed with the Yankees. They definitely go about offense the right way. IF, and I know it's a big if, they get Matsui and Sheffield back healthy, I think they're going to win the WS. I am still not that overly impressed with their pitching though. Bullpen is relatively weak minus Rivera and their rotation is not that strong either. Not that the Sox pitching has been great but I would still take our staff over the Yanks.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Another changeup hit hard. Nothing new. Every hard hit ball has been a high changeup.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:22 PM) If he keeps this type of development up, him and Mauer are going to be an amazing 3-4 hitters for the next 10 years. Also, if you want to know why the Twins are rolling, look no farther than their 1-2 hitters right now. Those guys have been getting on base at tremendous rates lately. 1-2 guys won't be able to keep getting on base at that rate...but Mauer and Morneau will continue to rake.
  5. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:21 PM) I think he was also on the Expos? Yes he was. Just looked it up on Baseball Reference.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) 2nd half MVP of baseball gives the Twins a 4-3 lead with a homer off of Zumaya. He has been on FIRE. Morneau is a monster.
  7. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:17 PM) I always forget that Pete Rose played for anyone but the Reds. Phillies right? Didn't he get his record hit with them?
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:16 PM) And they consistently beat the best pitchers in baseball. Yeah. That is the one that mystifies me the most. They have owned both Johan and Liriano.
  9. Damon left with mild stiffness in his groin...according to Farmio.
  10. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:11 PM) I smell some runs this inning. Need a hit first!!
  11. Inge homered...3-2 Tiggers over Twinkies in the bottom of the 7th.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) That 0-2 pitch looked like a strike. It was a strike.
  13. QUOTE(Wanne @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:08 PM) Pitching Bernie outside and Cintron playing him up the middle?!? Especially considering I don't think that Williams and his 94 year old body can turn on anything anymore..he usually hits everything to left field now...and up the middle.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 08:03 PM) Man is Dye slow out there. The way he runs makes him look even slower than he is...but he is still pretty slow.
  15. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) I was at the game yesterday and was seated two rows behind a pack of annoying yankees fans. What made it worse were they were cheering on the cubs as well(scoreboard watching). The entire game they were screaming like a bunch of wolves "the flukes play at this stadium". They were dancing around and standing up and screaming as the yankees took the 5-4 game. The main contributer wearing a brand new yankees hat got into a skirmish with a security guard for not sitting down while Rivera was warming up, and insisting on taking his picture. Finally as the bottom of the 9th began he turned to the sox fan behin him and gave the thump to the neck sign and just kept chanting 1,2,3. When Paulie hit the homer he got really really quite, but still was chanting "flukes play here". As the sox won the game, the entire section bombed him with insults, and this guy had to be held back. I gave a personal shot saying, dont run your flinging mouth at my stadium again, while making the talking hands sign. The best part they all took off their yankees jerseys after the game and put them in a bag....big fans Anyone else have any skirmishes? Definitely had to be Cub fans...sad really. I do not understand people like that but whatever.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2006 -> 12:01 AM) If I were a Yankee fan, I'd have wondered about almost as many moves by Torre tonight as I did about moves by the White Sox. Taking Myers out after not retiring a batter for example, when you've got the 3 weak guys against lefties coming up in the 8th, seemed to me like a mistake, but it worked out for them. Playing the outfield back late in the game like that with a RISP. There was something else but it's slipping my mind now. My buddy and I thought the same thing...no reason to take Myers out in that situation. The book has to be out that the Sox top 3 struggle against lefties.
  17. We just have to make Burnett throw a ton of pitches and then get into the burned out bullpen from yesterdays game. Burnett is a strikeout pitcher so lengthy AB's are more than likely. He won't last more than 5. Contreras just has to keep up the SP turnaround.
  18. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) Just thought that Sox fans eveywhere would like to know that the White Sox will be on national TV (ESPN) 3 times this week and on WGN once. Monday versus the Angels on ESPN Monday Night Baseball (5 PM MDT) Tuesday versus the Yankees on WGN (6:30 PM MDT) Wednesday versus the Yankees on ESPN Wednesday Night Game (6:05 PM MDT) Thursday versus the Yankees on ESPN Thursday Game of the Week (6:05 PM MDT) See you on the television! I'll be there on Thursday so maybe you will see me. Good exposure this week...hopefully we play well.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 6, 2006 -> 02:35 AM) I'd imagine Alex will be out there, who knows. And no, it ain't pretty with Pablo there either. Problem is that Mack thinks he's a goalie over there. Cintron is a much better option.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) It's a couple years off, but a rotation of Santana, Liriano, Garza, Slowey, and Swarzak is shaping up to be hell on the Central division. By then they might have to pay Santana and he might be gone..but still scary nonetheless.
  21. QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 02:04 AM) Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone was making the trip up there this weekend. I'm leaving tomorrow with a couple college buddies as a roadtrip before school again. Anyone recommend the bars or whatever while we're there? We're looking forward to drinking legally with the canadian beer Take it easy guys and I'll try to bring a White Sox Sweep. Have a Molson on me.
  22. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 5, 2006 -> 12:46 PM) That means our other starters have to start going 7 consistently or else our pen will be dragging. Does that mean when rosters expand, we'll see Tracy and Montero back? Probably. At least some extra help in the pen.
  23. That would be a lot of standing room tix...cause without it weren't they on pace for around 2.6 or 2.7?
  24. QUOTE(Bonderman38 @ Aug 4, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) WIthout that odd inning in Minnesota Bonderman's would not be that high.. ANyhow, I am not worried. Take Rogers out and it is near the Sox's. Too bad he is the Tigers number 2 guy.
