  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 08:35 PM) It should be: C: Joe Mauer (MIN) 1B: Travis Hafner (CLE) 2B: Tadahito Iguchi (CHW) SS: Miguel Tejada (BAL) 3B: Troy Glaus (TOR) OF: Manny Ramirez (BOS) OF: Vernon Wells (TOR) OF: Jermaine Dye (CHW) That is pretty spot on to what the all-star game should look like...but unfortunately won't.
  2. You can also try the ticket exchange on the whitesox website. I have seen some decent deals depending on who they play...minnesota shouldn't be that pricey.
  3. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) I also remember that he hit them off the same pitcher in the same inning. I believe it was Chan Ho Park...could be wrong but pretty sure it was.
  4. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) I never liked the idea of kids singing at games or announcing lineups. All these additions for kids takes away from the game. I hate all the little gimmicks parks do for kids, its places like Yankee Stadium and Fenway that show the true game of baseball. The time I was at Yankee Stadium they had a kid announcing the lineups for an inning or 2. I dont know if this was already mentioned...I didn't read the whole thread.
  5. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) The Tigers aren't going to lose four key pitchers in the middle of the season. Look, this Detroit team is good, in my mind there is no doubt that we are better but these guys are going to hang around for a while. Agree...I do not understand all this the Tigers are not that good...blah blah blah. Stats don't lie and they look a lot like we did last year. Sure I think that the Sox are better up and down and we have proved that when we play them, but by no means are the Kitties going to fold up and go home.
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:10 PM) The more important question is should this really count as a post since it was completely devoid of thought? .....BUUUUURRRNNNN!!!
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 11:03 PM) Would not surprise me one bit if it was Eric Casillyass. I usually enjoy listening to him until he starts talking about the Sox...then he always inserts foot into mouth. Going back to the stealing of signs...I was listening to 1000 earlier this afternoon on the way to the park and Bruce Levine was saying how stealing signs has always been a part of baseball and was giving scenarios on how using a camera would actually work to steal them. While it is highly doubtful that the Sox actually did that, he went on to say it isnt the first time the Sox have been accused of this..they were in the old stadium as well and that nearly every team is accused of cheating. It is a part of the game.
  8. I was at the game today when the wave unfortunately broke out in about the 6th or 7th, my memory evades me and for some reason I get embarrassed as well...someone mentioned that in a previous post. Luckily, my section in the UD...542 started the "stop the wave" chant. I was very proud...and glad that it stopped. YASNY is right...it should be a man law. "While attending a sporting event, a man should not attempt to start, participate in or in any way be a part of 'the wave.' If a man is caught doing so by any of his buddies, family or colleagues he should be forced to spend a whole sunday afternoon shopping with his significant other when otherwise he would be watching sports."
  9. One thing we have to keep in mind while watching games this year....this is not the 2005 White Sox. Kenny has constructed the team so that we can play less 1 run and low scoring games. He knew that the Sox couldn't win that many games playing that way again...not to call it a fluke but you cannot have a 2 year stretch winning that many close ballgames. He got a more well-balanced team to take the pressure off the pitching so when our pitchers are not pitching up to their capabilites....like some have not thus far...the Sox can still succeed.
  10. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 02:26 AM) Someone's gotta start an Online Petition about this guy, or a web-site. Just someone do something please. I agree...does anyone know of an email address to write to this guy? I would like to give him some of my baseball knowledge...whatever that is worth.
  11. I could be wrong but I think that Ozzie closed that email account because he was getting too many emails.
  12. This is a situation where people do not understand Ozzie's approach except for his players and Sox fans. Everyone one at ESPN blew this way out of proportion, like we have all said on this board. Although he didnt have to do it in the dugout, Ozzie tells his players how it is to their face..man to man. Coddling players and telling them everything is ok, like one Dusty Baker, does not work because the player becomes comfortable with the fact that mistakes are ok and do not need to learn from them. Ozzie tells you when you f'up and makes you learn from them.
  13. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 22, 2006 -> 09:39 PM) Even with our pitching staff at 75% of where it was last year ( which is where I think it is right now ) we own this leauge. I totally agree with this statement...it will nearly be impossible to match last year's pitching performance...that was a career year for a pitching staff. Kenny knew that coming into the year and upgraded the O.
  14. Sweaty Freddy with a gem...within a half game of detroit and charging hard. Watch out Kitties....here come the Chi Sox!!!
  15. Watching the replay now and I am going to time the Sox half of the 3rd inning out of pure boredom. It started at 1:45 a.m and ended at 2:14 a.m. Damn that was a fun inning.
  16. QUOTE(peanut33tillman @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:26 AM) Yes they're related father son I believe and the other Duncan is in a Yankee uniform too i think? Either way I'm glad Riske manned up and did his job tonight...way to solidify your role on this team kid Yeah I was there as well and we all knew he was going to do it...just didn't know which guy. After every ab in that inning AJ went to the mound and I figured he went out there to discuss who to hit. Sox beat them on the field and defended their teammates. All in all...a very good day.
  17. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jun 20, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) Minimum: 65 IP 1. Pedro Martinez 0.93 2. Johan Santana 1.00 3. Roy Halladay 1.03 4. Mike Mussina 1.04 5. Jose Contreras 1.05 6. Curt Schilling 1.06 7. Dan Haren 1.09 8. Jason Schmidt 1.09 9. Chris Young 1.10 10. Kenny Rogers 1.10 11. Brandon Webb 1.11 12. Bronson Arroyo 1.12 13. Ervin Santana 1.14 14. John Lackey 1.15 15. CC Sabathia 1.15 16. David Bush 1.16 17. Brad Penny 1.16 18. Jeremy Bonderman 1.16 19. Josh Smoltz 1.18 20. Chris Capuano 1.18 Francisco Liriano has a 1.10 WHIP in just under 60 IP. I see him and Johan going heads up for the AL WHIP title. God damn, the AL Central is f***ing insane. Eric Milton has a 1.16 WHIP in just under 60 IP, which boggles my mind. We're talking about a guy who put up a 6.47 ERA/1.55 WHIP/.302 BAA line with 40 HR allowed in 2005. Chris Capuano has 14 quality starts in 15 games! He has walked 23 batters through June 20, as opposed to 40+ at this time last year. His raod WHIP ratio in 2005 was 1.43. This year, it's at 1.26. Huge improvement. Danny Haren just continues to get better and better as the season progresses. He is 2-0 with a 1.23 ERA and a 0.89 WHIP ratio against the Yankees this year, and both of those contests took place in the Bronx. He also baffled the Texas lineup recently. This dude appears to be a legitimate big game pitcher. How is that Angels pitching looking? Weaver, Santana, Lackey, Colon, Escobar? Not bad. The BAA rankings: 1. Carlos Zambrano .187 2. Pedro Martinez .194 3. Chris Young .203 4. Jason Schmidt .214 5. Jose Contreras .214 6. Josh Johnson .215 7. Jeff Francis .215 8. John Lackey .216 9. Barry Zito .222 10. Matt Cain .224 11. Johan Santana .227 12. Mike Mussina .227 13. Derek Lowe .228 14. Mark Hendrickson .229 15. CC Sabathia .231 16. Brad Penny .231 17. Jeremy Bonderman .234 18. Tim Wakefield .235 19. Kenny Rogers .236 20. Ervin Santana .238 Like I said last time, Chris Young has to be the most underrated starter in the league. A .203 BAA and a 1.10 WHIP? He has a 0.91 WHIP on the road, and a 1.28 WHIP ratio at home, so you can't just merely chalk up his success to Petco. Mark f***ing Hendrickson? Matt Cain continues to show signs. His other numbers blow, but he has a Top 10 BAA through June 20. Cubs fans don't deserve to have Zambrano. Maybe he'll come to the Sox, Venezuelan mang that he is. Impressive stuff..nicely put together there Hammerhead and once Liriano is qualified there will be 12 AL pitchers in the top 20 which is amazing considering they are facing a DH and a legitimate lineup day in and day out. This just shows the AL dominance so far this year.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:03 AM) Just for the hell of it: The Indians are closer to the Royals in the standings then they are to the sox and tigers. I noticed that today...quite sad actually.
  19. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 12:52 AM) A Zumaya for Smoltz deal would be awesome... ...for the White Sox. Yeah I do not mind losing Zumaya from the Central considering he will be their closer probably as soon as next year...and he throws GAS.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) The replay of tonights game is now starting on Comcast, it is in HD where available, hella sweet. Oh yea...too bad I don't get HD.
  21. Anybody have any updates on MJH? My afternoons are not the same without the afternoon drive without the last neighborhood corner tavern.
  22. The Marlins have been most impressive and seem to really understand how to develop young talent much like the Braves have over the years. Obviously not at the same level as the Bravos yet but they seem to draft, trade for, pick up and develop young talent with the best of them.
  23. QUOTE(Felix @ Jun 17, 2006 -> 12:52 PM) Oh don't worry, Griffey would just be on the DL, so there would still be room for Sweeney and Owens. Good point.
  24. This may sound weird but I think if Smoltz goes anywhere it will be Detroit. He is from Detroit, the have some bullpen to give ATL....like Zumaya or Rodney and some other young players the Bravos could like. Watch for the Tigres to look to add another starter in my opinion.
