QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) You must be talking about every BBT announcer who has had to change their pick, mid-series, so that they wont look wrong. Ravich sure didnt appreciate Gammons changing his mind, and let him know last night. I really dont think that ESPN has focused on the White Sox winning as much as they have focused on what the Red Sox have to do to come back and win the series. And I am getting pretty annoyed at ESPN pimping Bill Simmons book about the Red Sox during every commercial break. It really shows their bias, if you ask me. I'm really losing all respect for ESPN's baseball coverage. Listening to Berman, Piazza and Sutcliffe is PAINFUL. Everytime someone hits a line shot, Piazza keeps saying, "Wow. He hit that ball FIRMLY." Or, when Rowand makes a routine catch in the outfield, he "FIRMLY put the squeeze on that ball." Piazza sucks. Berman sucks even more. All he talks about is how "people know little about this White Sox team" blah blah blah. Newsflash, Boomer. You're the f***ing play-by-play guy. Know something about each team before you sit you fat, overrated ass in the chair before gametime. It just shocks me how these announcers stand for nothing. They announce these games so dispassionately. No matter how easy it is to criticize Hawk and no matter how bushleague DJ is, I would take those two guys in a second. And, I'm not just saying that because they're homers. I guarantee...GUARANTEE...that Hawk and DJ no more about the RED SOX than those f***ing assclown strokes in the booth for ESPN. ESPN, you know nothing about baseball. I f***ing hate you.

I cannot emphasize how important tomorrow's game is. We desperately need a win in Game 2. We won today, but let's keep our eyes on the next prize: GAME TWO. Go Sox.

QUOTE(rudylaw @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 12:07 PM) Here is a bit of useless information This year we have had 3 eight game winning streaks. Each one of those has been followed by a 3 game losing streak. So right now we stand at a 5 game winning streak. Which means that we will sweep Boston, lose the first 3 games in the ALCS and the win the next 4, go to the World Series and Sweep for our next 8 game win streak. Sound good to everyone. If history repeats itself, it was meant to be. rudylaw, that is the greatest post ever. it almost makes too much sense...i really could see this happening.

9-30 Game Thread - Charlotte @ Cleveland
GasHeGone replied to Heads22's topic in 2005 Season in Review
I'm glad we were able to steal one here. Let's get 'em again tomorrow. -
That's 'Sox Park' to you The best Sox fans insist on measuring a season by wins, not attendance counts. Attempts at calmly discussing the abundance of empty seats at U.S. Cellular Field during the regular season compared to that always-packed North Side ball park are taboo. "We're working-class guys, and the bottom line is when the White Sox get shellacked, it's hard to explain to the old lady why you're putting money out to go to a game," Ousley says. "When they go on a tear, it's easy to explain why you're going to the game." And no matter how much that cell phone company paid for naming rights, faithful will tell you ball games are played at Sox Park. Tailgating, not bar-hopping, is the pre-game ritual of choice. Inside the stadium, we drink Pepsi, Miller and frozen margaritas from a gun. Best Kosher, not Hebrew National, is our premier hot dog. We relax after the game in the right-field bullpen bar. Kids take swings at Fundamentals, a baseball clinic high above left field. In straight-away center, fans cheer from an elevated perch. We buy split-the-pot tickets, gambling for the good of White Sox Charities. Our security guards are off-duty cops. The lady playing the organ is Nancy Faust. We chant "Paul-eee" for our All-Star first baseman Paul Konerko. Daley -- Da Mare -- sits in the front row, inches from the on-deck circle and Ozzie Da (Sox) Coach Guillen. And our song's lyrics are easy When the other team yanks a pitcher or the Sox win a series, we serenade the losers with Steam's "Na Na Hey Hey (Kiss Him Goodbye.)" Novice fans better start singing that one in the shower, the team's most faithful followers suggest. It's a chorus they hope to sing at the World Series. "Because if you're getting on the bandwagon, you better get on all the way," die-hard Sox fan Sam Antkiewicz says in a warning. "Otherwise, we'll throw you off."

If the Sox win tommorow they clinch AL Central
GasHeGone replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ALL I WANNA KNOW IS THIS: IF THE SOX WIN TOMORROW, ARE THEY GONNA SPRAY THE CHAMPAGNE? If I had some faith and wasn't such a pessimistic Sox fan, I'd tell them to hold off on the bubbly so we can do it at the Jake in front of the Tribe...but I'll be just as happy if we spray the bubbly tomorrow. Go Sox. -
I love how Farmer prays for bombs...He just prayed for a Uribe bomb.
-
1-7. The only win I saw was Garland's gem against Boston when AJ and Uribe hit those clutch late inning homers in an 8-4 White Sox winner... Besides that, I saw them lose twice to the Tigers (by scores of 7-1 and 8-6), twice to the Red Sox (6-5 and 3-0), once to the Blue Jays (7-3), once to the Twins (5-1) and once to the Yankees (3-1). I did set a new personal record for most consecutive home games when I attended 5 Sox games in a row from July 19-23. Bottom line, I'm bad luck. The day I skipped town to come back to school in DC, we ended that ugly seven game skid. Needless to say, I'm not touching The Cell with a 50-foot pole (or the Chicagoland area, for that matter) for a while. Of course, if we make the ALCS...all bets are off. I'll be there whether you like it or not.
-
im trying to figure out who i want to play in the first round... because if cleveland wins the wild card, we get the angels probably...who just got off an 8 game winning streak and swept us a few weeks ago... but if we get past them, we might get cleveland in the ALCS...which i like more than boston or nyy... my reasoning? i'd rather deal with boston or nyy in 5 games than in a 7 game ALCS. they're playoff proven...the indians are not... my dream scenario is to play the AL east wild card in round 1 and another AL east team in the alcs...i really don't want anything to do with the angels... however i also dont think it matters that much who we play. all the teams are good.

Twins vs White Sox 9-23 Official Gamethread

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 06:46 PM) Because they're mostly s***ty hitters? More guys in the lineup tonight against Lohse have had success. 5 guys can hit him, 4 can't. Typical Sox fan...always looking at the negative. Let's f***ing win this thing tonight. -

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Oh good, I see Ozzie was watching the Bizarro World version of the game where Brandon was sucking. Stop ripping on Ozzie everyone. Can't you see that no one wants to get the f***ing job done for us? At the end of the day, it's the players who are f***ing things up right now. Ozzie trying to give Marte some confidence, and Damaso is blowing his chances. Good move by Ozzie to get Damaso out right away. -

Listening to John and Ed is great. Farmer always thinks every Sox hitter is going deep. Marte's 3-0...f***. -
I have a question... I just figured out how to do an avatar thing, but how do you guys pull off those banners? I'd like to jump on the banner bandwagon too, if possible.
-
Who's got two thumbs and has jumped on the Rally Crede bandwagon? This guy.
-
Freddy's struggles in the first inning have been well documented all year long. All I know is that if he can fight through the top half of the first without getting shelled, I feel as though Garcia is one of the most dominant pitchers around. It's just that damn first inning that scares me...and the fact that he doesn't pitch well at the Cell. But I'm gonna trust Ozzie when he says that Freddy is a big game pitcher. Freddy, we picked you up last summer for games like these. Get her done. Go Sox.
-
I know we've stranded too many tonight...but we're still in position to win this game. People on this board are so negative lately. Let's remember that we're 8-4 in Sept....soon to be 9-4 and we're playing the Central for the rest of the way (does 41-14 mean anything to anyone on this board?) I don't care how good Cleveland's playing...we own them this year. OWN THEM. Go Sox.

ozzie has big balls..Tooo big or just right?

QUOTE(One Pump Chump @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) To get back on topic... I have talked to redandwhite about this before. Ozzie is not the best manager in the game...not even close. Probably not even a top 15 manager. And, IMO, he is probably one of the worst, if not THE worst, in-game managers in the league...and while that is an opinion, the mass would agree. But without Ozzie...are the Sox 78-47? Is there any other manager in the game that could have the Sox at 78-47 right now? I don't think so. So ya, he is pretty much Ditka. These guys would run through a wall for this guy(or at the very least, into a wall), and you can see it day in and day out. Why do people hate on Ozzie? He has a passion for what he does, something which most managers lack...Francona? Torre? All those guys do is manage personalities and sit on their ass in the corner of the dugout all game. Do they even talk to their players? Actually, if I had to manage Manny "Being Manny" Ramirez or Gary "Poo comes out of my mouth when I talk" Sheffield, I probably wouldn't talk to my team either. Without Ozzie, the Sox aren't where they are today. He knows his team, and he goes with his gut based on his knowledge of what kind of effort his guys can give him on any given day. I'm getting so sick of people who have no faith in this team. I think our play in the last five games - winning four of those five - has shown that this team can overcome adversity and play their way out of a slump. My Yankees friends tell me the Sox will be done in the first round. Bulls***. You will see this team in the American League Championship Series and we will compete. Go Sox. -
Now it's time to rip Seattle a new one...
-
Crede should hold on to the ball used in his next major league hit because it will feel like his first...and could be his last.
-
QUOTE(alexgtp @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 01:47 PM) No matter what happens.. No matter how poorly we are doing right now.. I have liked them since day 1. Since they were in first place the entire season..since they had the best record in baseball..since they were the first team to ,20 ,30 ,40 50,60 wins even now that they are in their slump...which all teams go thru... I still like them . They are my team thru thick and thin.. with or without KJG JR.. I know the sox have worked hard to be where they are.. and we as fans should appreciate the fact that they have given us one hell of a season.. WIll i be back next season.. you bet I will...just like I have benn going back for 20+ yrs. We can all b**** and moan and complain..but right now is when the Sox will need their fan support the most. SO go SOX.. and I will see you all in the post season!! I couldn't agree more. When you're 2-8 in your last 10, you're bound to heat up. When you're 8-2 in your last 10, you're bound to cool off. It's a law of physics. People need to stop s***ting the bed and have a little faith in physics. Go Sox.

Sox v. Yanks 8/19/05 Official Game Thread
GasHeGone replied to bjm676's topic in 2005 Season in Review
As much s*** as I've given Timo in the past couple days, he's been great recently....Clutch ribbies against the Twins, a great throw to third which looked like he got him...a hit tonight.... Granted, the slut is still a B Team player but he's lookin' like a contributor on a White Sox team on which nobody contributes... -
QUOTE(knightni @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) Not if playing CF is contingent on him dropping his no-trade clause. I don't think Griffey would have any problem playing LF. No way in hell do you move Rowand out of center. Griffey plays LF until Pods is healthy, then platoons with Everett at the DH and gives Pods, ARow, and Dye days off every few days...He'll get his ABs and, more importantly, the Sox will start winning all the way to October.
-
With Pods on the DL and Timo about as useful as a lawn ornament, we need Griffey. I want him...bad.
-
Oh how I hate Timo Perez! Let me count the ways: 1) When he catches fly balls in the outfield, he hot dogs them with a one-handed swipe of the ball. 2) He can't hit for jack. 3) He's way too slow to bat leadoff. Example: He definitely should've beat out that bouncer to the right side in the bottom of the fifth. Why does this stroke ever play?
