Well, the good thing about Loaiza is that we gave up nothing to get him, and we aren't paying him very much, so if he flops after 10 or 11 starts, we won't have lost too much. With Ritchie, we paid him a couple million, and gave up some young arms to get him. With Wells, we paid him a few million (not sure how much). With Esteban, we signed him to a minor league contract, and if he makes the squad -- which it's apparent he will -- we'll pay him about $500K and probably another $500K if he meets the incentive requirements. That's not much of a risk at all IMO. Loaiza was the opening day starter at toronto a =few years back... he needed a change of scenary it was a great signing...

His speaking to the pitchers is no longer a concern... but he lost valuable time in learning how to handle pitchers... thats the primary reason alomar was brought back... to hopefully help him learn those things... they will send him down to AAA for a couple months... get his head straight... his swing working again... and then call him up and have him learn from alomar...

Did you and the rest of the nation pick Anaheim last year? No, and I also do not make rational predictions based on hoping for a miracle or a fluke. The Angels were a fluke. They will not return to the playoffs. Noone said it was impossible. I said id pick the Twins, and the sox are slightly above average. Read the posts before you make yourself look like a dumbass again the angels were lucky... but certainly not a fluke. They had a GREAT young team with a lotta fire in guys like erstad and eckstien.... some nice young pitching (wasburn, percival etc...) The year before they went out and brought in 2 key vetern pitchers (sele and appier) That helped the young guys out.... lucky for them no really great injuries hurt them for too long and everything else worked as planned they got good years out of all the key guys and they caught on fire thru the stretch run... not to mention they had quite a bit of fan support due to the GREAT battle i the AL west...

Burke isnt going to make it. First of all he hasnt played full time catcher in his minor league career. Hes 31 years old, and hasnt really done all that great... Hes only here as a backup to be a 3rd stringer incase something happens to any of (alomar, olvio or paul) and to be at AAA since we have no one else for that spot... I believe rex has some great points about him being here....

Exacty right. If it was just the bat it could be overlooked. But he lost a lot of time in learning how to work with pitchers... due to language problems... Plus the organization has shown its willing to take its time and move young hitters along slowly, gives them more of a chance to susceed, and it also helps in that they dont reach FA till there late 20s early 30's... therefore they are more in there prime and we get more years of production out of them...

They have so many great prospects in there system. Chavez is just now coming into his own... i bet they dont skip a beat.... they have become a factory for elite players... everyone thought they were done for when gaimbi left... Beane is a freaking genius...

Thats exactly why i would rather they do this now and get it done with.... better then risking him compensating for the pain in his elbow, and hurting his shoulder or worse...

The other board i visit someone reported that Wright has a few small bone chips in his elbow. Said person wishes they would give wright another MRI since often swelling prevents getting a compelte picture... I bet he does have bone chips. And they are going to try and just have him pitch the season and get surgery after the year... kinda like a sasaki for the M's did last year... I would rather they just shut him down for the 6-8 weeks it would take and do it now... he'd back by may... its not like we need a 5th starter that much till then anywaz....

The reasoning behind this is they are saving all there money fior the big 3. I was reading elsewhere that beane is saving money each year... that the ownership will allow him to use in future contracts... hse doing this the smart way, hes going to pay his stud pitchers. WIsh we had given all the money we gave kong to bhurle...

He cant hit at the major league level. And his ability to work with pitchers has also been questioned.

Somethign i forgot to mention. One thing that i really hate about KW is his management of the 40-man roster... how the hell did we protect stiffs like Adkins and daellreo and not Majewski? that in itself should get him fired.
