Yeap, Everyone wants to see him up now. But hes got some huge holes in his swing... and they wont go away with him riding the pine in chi-town...
-
Heheheh, At the other board, porzio is the whipping boy this spring. Although white is gaining ground quick...
-
At another board that i frequent this was posted... if its true then it looks like miles is in and harris is out...
-
His fundamentals arnt very good. He has huge holes in his swing, his walk to K ratios are pathetic. HEs got a lot of talent and hes going back to AAA to learn how to use it
-
Would have to agree with that, Harrris cant hit worth a s***. Miles is gonna get the short end of the stick on this one, no idea why the organization is so enamored with Harris. HE CANT HIT!

KW's idiocy debate.... always fun Personally i am not a very big fan of KW, Since hes taken over hes made MANY questionable moves. Trading away some great talent and getting back NADA! (we got adkins for durham... tyler houston fetched more then that at the deadline last year). Overall i would say that hes getting a C grade so far... and thats mainly because of the great off-season he had this year. Everyone is quick to point out the Colon trade. Lets not forget how the yankees jumped in to help us out on that one to screw over the bosox. Also lets not forget that minyana overplayed his hand.... A lot still remains to be seen on how hes done. I would say the thing that erks me the most about him is his consant interference in the clubhouse....

In baseball, its always been that your best pitcher is rewarded ans HONORED to be your opening day pitcher. be it at your own park or at another. You think Pedro or RJ care if they start there game at home or away? i bet they are honored just to be their teams opening day starter. HSC you also brought up a point about why have them pitch together. The post directly above mine makes that point just as well as i ever could. Having the two pitch together has them go up against the best 2 of the other teams... why take the garenteed win at the 4th spot... and take a loss at the 2nd? why not give yourself a good chance to win against each by placing your best up against them. Also HSC, great scoup last week on the MB contract talks

Joe B has shown flashes of dicipline. But thats it. The sox moved Crede throught very slowly, making sure that his stroke was nice and compact. it appears to be on the verge of paying huge divedends... crede hit 12 homers last year in a very small sample of at-bats. There have been numerous articles posted where borchard praised the sox on there handleing of crede. and how he expects to move along at the same pace. With that in mind what in the hell, makes anyone think that hes going to break camp with the sox? hes going to AAA. Hes going to stay there for ATLEAST 3-4 months, they are going to keep working on him to cut down his stroke and get rid of any holes in his swing. That in turn will cut down his K:BB ratio from about 3:1 to 2:1, thats about when he'll come up to the majors. If we bring him up now hes going to fail miserably. You dont spend 5.3 mill on a kid and then rush him up.

Its well documented that it takes atleast 2 years to get back to form. This is his second year back, and so far this spring hes pitching lights out. So thats very encouraging.
-
Agreed These games mean nuthing from a overall stand point... However they mean a lot from teh Individual stand point... right now its a interal conflict between teams... to put forth the best team possible

Porzio, is a AAAA player. so when depth is mentioned you will always hear his name. Problem with Porzio is that hes not cut to be a reliever... he give up to many walks. He would be a half decent 5th starter but the org wont give him that chance, his best shot is going to be else where. Wunch gets a lot of flak. And i must admit i too thought he was a one year wonder. However so far this spring hes proving me wrong and i am more then happy to admit that. Lot of people often forget that wunch was once a 1st round draft pick, hes got the talent. He changed his delivery to the side arm delivery the year before he came to the sox. He got hurt last year. and seems to have finally recoverd and picked up where he left off the year before. Wunch is better then atleast 70% of the other lefty specialists out there, Plus we have marte. And if wunch fails guys like munoz and stewart are just waiting for a go.

Colon is still in his 20's. Hes not that old, hes getting into his prime. A 4-5 year deal for him would be GREAT! IT might also help resign maggs and bhurle... becuase it shows we are commited to winning. If we are going to trim salary, i see it coming from Losing guys Lee, and maybe valintin (hes a FA after this year). Also I bet we dont pick up franks option after this year. Force him to use his... I would also rather see Kong shipped out before maggs is.

If you look at Ginter stats from last year, He pitched LIGHTS OUT for the first half of the year. In the 20 odd innings he was given a chance. Second half of the year he didnt do too well at all. Personally i think if hes given a chance to earn a spot and JM doesnt just let him sit on the bench when we have a 6 run lead, hes gonna be good. For the last few years i have read many a time where Ginter had one of the better arms out of that great 2000 draft the sox had. He just seemed over his head when he was with the sox, almost like hes scared of major league hitters. He might not have what it takes to get over that... but i have a feeling that he does. And that he will beat White out this ST and make the roster. At first we can use him for mop up, and early relief... if he does well give him some higher pressure situations and see how he does. We saw something in the kid to draft him fairly high...
-
Now that is something i would pay good money to see.

Daubach is one of the players that crossed the line in 1994, hes not part of the players union, so i doubt he'd be used as an example of colusion. From everything i have read, its not the PU thats crying colusion, its a few agents that are raising hell over it, trying to get the MLBPA to look into it. They have NO case.
-
I am sure they each put in thier time in the cages. And a few defensive drills. They might also hit the weight room for a short time...
-
Good to see Garland is having another strong outing. If he steps it up a notch... we are gonna be a HARD team to beat....
-
I have a feeling that Ginter will make the squad. Hes been pitching quite well. And if white fumbes, ginter is gonna take his spot.
-
As horrible as the north side team is. They do have some damn fine pitching. No matter how bad we beat em. Morrows headline in the cubune will undoubtly say something like "only 4 there to cheer as sox squeak past pennant hopeful cubs 28-1"
-
i would not want olreud on this team that hard hat would annoy the f*** out of me. not only that he doesnt hit for power. and he is in the high 30's why would u trade a uper 20 year old for a upper 30 year old??? I said i want a guy LIKE olreud... not olreud himself. Defensive first basemen are WAY underrated... remember that GREAT defensive team the mets had a few years back.. Once olreud left, the D fell apart.
-
What i really liked about cotts. IS he gave up 5 runs in one inning, however from the radio broadcast... they announcers said that he kept goin after the hitters... an got 3 good outs... Glad to see they dont give in....
-
With baseball's unlimited rounds I don't think he wasted much of anything. Didn't they draft the sibblings of Crede,Paul and whoever else, those 50th rd picks don't matter a lick. Baseball only has 50 rounds. And Mike Piazza was a 50th round pick... so no pick should be wasted.
-
a player is hit while swinging it is a dead ball and a strike This is one rule that i see the umps most f*** up. Guys start swinging get hit... and take there base...
-
I am not worried about Crede at all. In essence hes replacing Claytoons bat. I bet he can hit a lot better then claytoon. Also hes the best Defensive starting 3bman we'll have since robin left. It'll be nice to watch him play.
-
Hes only here because of his dad. However he did have some potential before the accident. And the players we gave up will never mount to anything. They wouldnt have even gotten a chance iwth the sox. We had to much pitching depth. So if it makes his father happier. why not? Duane shaffer has been quite a important part of the Org for quite a long time... Soxfest - I think this is different then when Schu wasted a draft pick on his daughter. In that we had no chance of her making the major leagues... Shaffer might still have a shot...
