That applesauce recipe takes too much time and attention for me. I just slice up as many apples as I’m in the mood for preparing, removing the cores, leaving the skins; put the pieces in a glass bowl and splash them with a little real maple syrup; put the lid on the bowl and put it in the microwave; punch the number sequence on the microwave for ‘sensor cook, soft vegetables’; and return when I hear the buzzer in maybe 5 minutes. I usually bypass the blender phase, sprinkle some cinnamon on the cooked fruit and just eat it then and there. If I’m going to make real applesauce, I might add a little water and cook a few minutes longer, and then puree the results in the blender. I always have a big bowl of various fruits out in my kitchen, with the result that some pieces occasionally get buried at the bottom and over ripe before I catch them. The microwave treatment means nothing goes to waste. It also works great for when you misjudge the ripeness of something like a pear and cut into it too soon. Nuke it!

Hi Kyyle - Stop and think about what you just said. It implies that every day you begin your life all over again with a tabla rasa; that you respond to everyone as if you knew nothing about them. Life (online and off) just doesn’t work that way. Now, if you mean being unwilling to let go of some past personal conflicts with someone or bringing up subjects which have no bearing at all on the current discussion – yes, I agree, not nice. But neither of those situations apply in this particular case, do they? I’m always interested in the dissonance between what we say, what we say we believe, and the ways we actually behave.

All I “know” about you is the words you’ve posted here for everyone to read and comment on. And all of them are in play, and will continue to be. Same as for me.

Speaking in gereralities, however, and if I’m reading the laws correctly, this 16 year old could have legal sex in Florida with a 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, or 24 year old. Yeah, when I saw the first popular press account of this, I stopped reading at “13 feet long.” This guy was just a little pischer, relatively speaking. It must have been a slow news day, or these folks have good PR people on the job. The modern fossil-hunters are as competitive, I think, as those from the days of Roy Chapman Andrews. Still, I’m always happy when this type of story breaks through the usual dreck.
